I have to share a little win from today—out of nowhere, my husband told me he’s planning on heading out to the protest, and honestly, it just made my whole day. I was actually quite surprised, because I had this assumption that he’d only bother showing up if I were right there by his side, probably after some gentle nudging from me, especially since I'm just not feeling up to the physical demands of it myself lately.

If we’re being logical about this, there should be way more people standing up for the right to life. At the end of the day, we're talking about unborn babies who become actual human beings... people who deserve to grow up and spend 8, 12, or 16 years in school.
Besides, this isn't just about supporting educational reforms. It touches on a huge issue in our society: whenever experts try to implement something professional and transparent, politicians and trolls step in to sabotage it.
It’s ridiculous to think that a political party—which probably wouldn't even hit the required threshold if they ran independently—should be the one deciding the future of our education system. Why should expertise take a backseat to politics?
I am honestly crossing my fingers and hoping for the exact same thing. If the number of witnesses keeps shrinking like this, I might actually break down and have a good cry over it. 😢
I caught a post on Facebook saying that Rodney is organizing a protest this coming Wednesday, June 1st. I’m all for it, honestly; if I weren't pregnant, I’d definitely be right there with them.

And am I the only one who hasn't had those crazy "hangry" episodes yet? When does that part of the madness actually kick in?
By the way, when do you guys usually find time to check in here? Should we maybe pivot to a different topic so we don't go too far off track from the main thread? I'm pretty new to this group, and man, some of these thread titles are intense 😱 it feels like it's nothing but talk about aches and pains and stuff like that 🙄
I’m in the exact same boat as you. It wasn't until I hit the 36-week mark that I had my first real hormonal meltdown, where I just started crying for absolutely no reason at all. My appetite has also only really kicked in now that I'm nearing the end of the pregnancy. If anything, I’d say I’ve been much more mellow since becoming pregnant; I find myself picking fewer fights with my husband and things like that.
I did have one rather strange experience, though—a waitress who saw me for the first and last time reached out to touch my belly. She was all euphoric and kept asking if the baby was moving. To be honest, I was more caught off guard than actually annoyed by it. Aside from that, only my family and close friends have touched my stomach, and usually only because I invited them to.

One thing that drives me absolutely up the wall is when someone tells me I need to eat more because I'm "eating for two!"
Then there's the second thing—every single time I voice an opinion that happens to clash with theirs, I get hit with the classic: "Calm down, don't get worked up, it's just your hormones talking!" Honestly? I'll show them "hormones" if they keep being that stupid. I'm perfectly capable of losing my cool regardless of what my biology is doing! 🙂
And if you really want to know what pushes me over the edge: "You're almost four months along, how do you not have a bump yet?" Well, maybe it's because I'm nearly 5'11" and weigh 185 pounds, so it's a lot harder to see a bump compared to someone who's 4'11" and 100 pounds! What, am I supposed to deliver an 18-pound baby just to compensate for my height and build???
I honestly feel the exact same way about that. It used to drive me absolutely crazy during the early stages of my pregnancy, too—everyone would constantly pester us with questions about what we were going to name the baby. It felt like I had to give the same explanation over and over again, just telling everyone that we hadn't actually settled on anything yet. We finally picked a name recently, so thankfully, they've finally left us alone.
As for the whole thing about leg hair... 🙏 I guess I should just be grateful to the little one in my belly, since I barely grow any hair at all. 😁
I watched it and honestly, it was pretty powerful. You can't help but feel for those dolphins once you realize the actual reason behind such a massacre. @ Laura Booth6: The movie is devastating and heavy, but I don't think you have to sit there sobbing through the whole thing because a huge chunk of the documentary focuses on the crew's mission to capture what’s actually happening out in the Gulf. It keeps things intense and engaging enough that you're really rooting for them to pull it off in the end. For me, the only moment that truly hit home was when the activist described seeing a wounded calf trying to make a break for it, but just couldn't quite make it 😢.
I just got my latest blood work back, and honestly, I’m feeling pretty discouraged 😢. After seven months on Yasmin, my cholesterol and triglyceride levels have shot way up. My cholesterol is sitting at 8.1 (where the upper limit is supposed to be 5.0), and my triglycerides are at 8.23 😲 (compared to a normal limit of 1.70). My gynecologist told me I need to take at least a three-month break from the pill immediately. I’m feeling really down about this because I’ve actually been through a break before; after taking Yasmin for three years, I had to stop for eight months due to high lipids, and everything eventually leveled out. Aside from these lipid numbers, everything else looks perfect. I don't experience any side effects from the Yasmin at all. I was really hoping to stay on them for another year or two, and I just can't seem to get used to other options like condoms. Has anyone else dealt with issues regarding blood lipids while on birth control? I was wondering if switching to a different type of extended-release pill might help, though I'll definitely be discussing this further with my doctor. I'm just curious if anyone here has gone through something similar. 😢
I'm starting this thread because... ...the Atheist Rap concert is coming up fast 🙂 Honestly, out of all their shows I've ever been to, the one at the Spider was easily my favorite.
Also, just a heads-up: the concert announcement on the site has the wrong date listed. It isn't October 17th, it's actually October 16th. I tried to flag it earlier, but I think I just got lost in the shuffle and was ignored 😳
Anyway, just letting everyone know I've got tickets 0001 and 0002 😲
Honestly, I’m not even stressing about it anymore... It was dark for a day and a half, then things started looking more typical, and now it's turned red. I’m wondering if it might just be related to my cycle, since my OB-GYN mentioned during my last checkup that I have a cyst that should clear up on its own by my next period. Ugh... honestly, dealing with this whole female reproductive system thing can be such a hassle sometimes...🙂
I noticed some black discharge today (it was thick and had little "clumps"). I don't mean dark red, but actually black—sort of like the color of black coffee, if you know what I mean. Does anyone have any idea what that might signify? 🤷
This is my first period since I restarted birth control pills (after an eight-month break), and it’s never been this dark before. I'm wondering if it might be linked to that pale, almost invisible spotting I started having about a week ago.😕
Sarah Jones70 said:I ended up getting my period after starting the pill... and then I got another one right after that, though it was a day or two late. Now, I was supposed to get it on November 2nd and still nothing... I've been feeling nauseous and really jittery this whole time, plus my ovaries are aching. My period just won't show up, and honestly, I'm starting to lose my mind a little. I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant... I guess I'm just more frustrated that it isn't arriving on schedule.
Ugh... I wish I were in your shoes, being only ten days late... mine is LATE BY TWO MONTHS!!! I feel like I'm going crazy... I went to see my OB-GYN for some advice about a month ago, and she told me it’s perfectly normal when you're coming off birth control, so I scheduled a follow-up appointment, but it isn't for another week! I'm seriously losing it; I was so certain it would arrive before my appointment, but now it feels like it's never coming. I've already taken two pregnancy tests, both negative! But still, nothing. I mean, I get those occasional twinges in my ovaries or a little stinging sensation in my abdomen every once in a while, which gives me a tiny glimmer of hope, but then it just disappears again.😠
Just wanted to give a quick update—I finally made it to my gynecologist yesterday to figure out what on earth is going on with my cycle, since I'm already nearly three weeks late. I actually managed to catch her right as she was heading out for the day (I had this idea in my head that she stayed until 8 😵), and she was incredibly patient, letting me vent before explaining everything in such detail. From what I gathered, she mentioned that the uterine lining needs to thicken up enough to shed before a period can start, but mine apparently isn't quite there yet because of how long I've been on hormonal birth control. She used a specific medical term for why it's not thickening properly, though I'll be honest, it totally went in one ear and out the other. She did reassure me that it’ll just take some time for everything to get back to its natural rhythm, but she insisted I schedule a formal follow-up regardless. So, I'm all set for an appointment, though the earliest opening they had wasn't until November 17th. 🙂, oh well, at least I'm feeling a little more at peace now.
I could really use some advice here. On August 21st, I took my very last birth control pill after being on them for three years, since I have to take a break due to some cholesterol issues. My period came along normally on August 23rd, but based on the fertility trackers I've been using, my next cycle was supposed to start around September 19th. It still hasn't shown up, and I'm getting close to being two weeks late. I took a pregnancy test this morning, and it came back negative.
Should I go see my OB-GYN right away, or is it pretty common for things to get a little wonky like this when you're pausing the pill? I'm wondering if I should just hang tight for a bit longer.
I honestly intended to just watch the first ten minutes to help me drift off to sleep, but I ended up getting so hooked that I sat through the whole thing. It was actually quite a nice experience, and I'm really glad I stuck with it.

I honestly just love them. Everything about them hits the right note for me—from their songwriting to their stage presence—and the guys seem like such genuinely friendly people. Their show at the Spider last year was absolutely incredible; easily the best concert I've ever been to 👍, so naturally, I had to go ahead and grab myself a t-shirt 🙂
From the Kset website:

Self-proclaimed as one of the biggest punk-rock bands in the region, they are making their debut at KSET. Their signature strength lies in those high-energy, raw performances and lyrics that truly stick with you—which explains why, even after 18 years, they’re still packing out clubs. With a full two-hour set featuring plenty of hits from their entire discography and a promotion for their new DVD (which will be available for the first time here in the US), there’s plenty of reason to hurry up and snag your tickets.
Tickets are available for $12 at Dirty Old Shop, Dancing Bear, and KSET. At the door, they will be $15. Doors open at 8:00 PM, and the show kicks off at 9:30 PM.
Oh my gosh!! I was actually there just last week, and it really looked like they were putting the finishing touches on everything. They’ve added even more couches and armchairs, and honestly, the outdoor area with all those logs looked absolutely lovely... Does anyone know when they're officially closing down? I'd love to squeeze in at least one last farewell drink before they shut the doors for good...😢
