Psycho vs The Shining in Movies ·

Man, you're trippin'. Rosemary's Baby is straight-up psychological horror, pure and simple.

Nah, I get where you're coming from, but I don't think it's like that. I was talking more about the whole visual vibe. Like, The Exorcist has those much darker shots, you know? It’s got way more explicit violence thrown at you. The actual look of the movie is just... grittier, more aggressive.

In Rosemary's Baby, almost everything happens during the day, and it’s got that specific urban atmosphere going on.

That's really what I meant.

Look, The Exorcist is just way more intense—it’s a direct, heavy-hitting horror movie through and through. Rosemary's Baby feels more like a psychological thriller where the ending hits you like a freight train, so comparing them head-to-head feels like a bit of a reach to me.

If I had to pick two movies to actually pit against each other, I’d go with The Omen versus The Exorcist.☕

What a sweetheart, what a smile. Way more engaging than that boring soap opera. Just a little bit of emotion and expression makes all the difference.

A lesson for women everywhere: stop playing the brat and just give a submissive little smile as much as possible. It’s much more pleasant that way. 👍

there is no way in hell he's taking that deal, even if he had to walk barefoot for the rest of his life☕

At first, I was thinking they’d just go with a flat rate
but
there’s definitely more to the story here ☕

Only someone looking at this on a surface level would say that, and from what I can tell, he's definitely not one of those shallow types.☕

man, just translate all that nonsense you rambled about into American English for me ☕

look, if you need something more concrete to chew on, just focus on the clash between traditional values and modern ways ☕

So you spend all this time acting like you’re too good for the West and looking down your nose at how Americans live, only to turn around and admit you've been munching on their most iconic 20th-century symbol this whole time. Real smooth.

Look, I’ll be the first to admit it—I’ve definitely downed my fair share of those local sodas. And honestly? They weren't even close to being worse than Coke. Not even a little bit. 🤷
bluecyclist64 said:It’s futile to lecture today's younger generation about those struggles. They haven't a clue what it was like back then, living through the dark days of communism when a dictator like Marshall could practically snatch the food right out of your mouth. Trying to explain it to them is like trying to teach Pavlov's reflex; once you see food, you feel this primal, desperate urge to devour it immediately. It becomes an instinct. You never truly know when the secret police might burst through your door and seize your last meal just to line the pockets of the elite—to feed the families of people like Špiljak, Bakarić, or Josipović.

Speaking of movies, I first started heading to the cinema back in 1974, usually with someone in tow, though by 1976 I was making my own way there. I remember sipping on a Coca-Cola and looking at the snacks they sold; honestly, that stuff was for suckers. They charged way more for a bag of popcorn than you’d ever pay at a local grocery store.
Growing up, I was always painfully self-conscious about any kind of bodily noise—whether it was the sound of someone crunching too loudly on food or, even worse, the social catastrophe of passing gas. It felt mortifying. But I suppose I can't expect myself to change now. I’m not going to suddenly transform into one of those typical American types who lacks any semblance of discipline, someone who can't make it through two damn hours without needing a constant influx of calories just to function.
Eating in a movie theater is absolutely revolting to me. I can't help but wonder if this distaste stems from my upbringing—being raised with such a staunchly secular, old-school American ideological background.🕺

For me, that whole complex was even deeper because I remember that specific feeling of pure bliss* whenever my relatives would fly in from Germany with suitcases packed full of the best candy, chocolates, and sodas. It was this weird, unclassifiable sense of 🕺

...I was drinking Coca-Cola...

I've been reading your stuff since ☕

*read: low standards
I love them best when they’re still steaming hot. Once they cool down? Total garbage. Honestly, I can't even deal with eating them one by one—that’s too slow for me. I just cram a massive mouthful in all at once, stuff is practically leaking out the sides of my face, and then I just sit there like some kind of caveman survivor, chewing and chewing and chewing...
Once I get going, there's no stopping me...
I’ll probably have the whole bucket of popcorn finished before the trailers even wrap up 🤦

Honestly, I'm pretty sure they did. I’ve always had that nagging feeling in the back of my head about it.

Even if all these trends are being shoved down our throats by some corporate machine.

Look, when something just feels good—whether it's touching your skin, looking at it, hearing it, or even tasting it... it just feels good. Period. ☕

If you haven't been paying attention to them by now, honestly, why bother? 🤷

The days when everyone was hanging on their every word are long gone. Trying to claim you aren't listening to them at this point is just a waste of breath.

Nancy Sanchez31 said:Well, nobody actually said that, I guess. 😁 My point was just that AC/DC has pretty shallow lyrics—which I love, by the way—and I don't really see much difference when it comes to Queen. Just my two cents, I suppose.

maybe from where you're sitting, you don't see anything out of the ordinary 🤷
but all I can do is back up what everyone already knows—this was a band that probably took more risks and experimented more than anyone else while still raking in the cash, without giving a damn about what the crowd wanted. whatever crazy idea popped into their heads, they recorded it, and honestly, that alone is why you have to fucking respect them.

not to mention they're just incredible musicians with killer songs.
