Of course the book matters. I mean, the more you read, the better, right? It just makes me look better too, since the headline will end up being: "hiddenpuma75 was so distracted by Jack Harris3 that even his book slipped from his hands..." So, seriously... just grab the best, most interesting one you can find. 🙂
hiddenpuma75 hit the nail on the head here, and honestly, it’s spot on: so, we've got this guy who just showed up on the forum—you know, the one with the massive ego, calling himself "Super Harvey"
who actually had the nerve, without an ounce of caution, wisdom, or actual insight,
to start labeling people.
And then I guess I'm disqualifying myself too:
(instead of just barking incessantly like Jack Harris3🙂 )
Harvey is judging based on posts, which is fair, I guess—but let's be real, Baphomet mostly just writes about craft beer. 😁 It’s easy to get the wrong impression from that alone. Jack Harris3 is just barking, sure. You're making judgments based on what you read online. But do you actually know them in person? Is he really that loud, or maybe he's the one pulling the strings behind the scenes?... 🙂
hiddenpuma75 said:(If you don't get the joke, just assume it's some weird reference to Oreo cookies, but honestly, don't ask me about it—go bother Jack Harris3 instead🙂 ) since she’s basically the boss here and I’m not even sure if she’s allowed to run ads for Oreos on this forum.)
Just so the haters don't go thinking I was that friend! 🙄 Seriously though, I have zero interest in taking credit for stuff I didn't actually do. 😁 Go ahead and promote whatever you want... you could even try selling bus routes at this point... 😁 Honestly, the best part of all this is knowing you actually read it while leaving the heavy lifting to whoever was doing the work... I always thought I was the only one who pulled off that little stunt, so it's a relief to know I'm not alone in that one... 😁
I’m with you on that. But let's be real, most people don't go looking for the new stuff. There's just something about that old, beat-up recliner... the one my grandfather used to sit in for years... it's just more comfortable. 😁
Kenneth Ward8 said:Fine. But honestly, what’s the point of all this sharing? Is it just some way for those folks on the 4th level to convince themselves they're the spiritual crown jewels of humanity?
Hehe, you hit the nail right on the head. 😁 Quote:

If we really take a closer look, we'll see more than just the fact that there's only one person in the world... we'll see there's actually only one single being... exactly in the same way our hearts know deep down that there is—only one God!
Let me toss a question back at you from that other thread we were having: do you think anyone (anyone at all) is actually going to wrap their head around this? 😁
Edward Fisher3 said:It’s basically a lost cause now that your DVD drive (on the PC) is locked up... there's no fixing it. You're stuck just watching those specific DVD titles it's currently locked to! But back before you had that option to swap in a movie from any region (which then locks you out), you actually had to go out and find some special "firmware" for that specific DVD-ROM drive...
Man, if only someone had warned me... 🙄 The thing is, I ordered a pamphlet online, but what showed up was a DVD instead... and in all that shock, it never even crossed my mind to ask about a code. When I tried it out, the option to switch regions looked totally fine right there on the screen, but it never once mentioned that it would lock you out after the fifth attempt. Of course, I didn't think twice about it; I was just sitting there, naively marveling at how cool it was to be able to watch anything... That little detail about being limited to five changes is buried way down in the "Help" menu, but who actually reads the help files when everything seems to be working perfectly? I only stumbled onto that after it already stopped working... And just like that, I went and completely messed things up... 😁
Jack Harris3 said:Maybe they could just swap him out for the actor who plays Gandalf, or even that legendary Bram Stoker guy...
haha, I actually suggested Ian McKellen to a friend once during a deep dive conversation, and he totally tore me apart for it. It’s funny because he absolutely adores the man and thinks The Lord of the Rings is pure genius, but we ended up having this massive, ridiculous debate about it... 😁 Eventually, I just asked him if he’d prefer Sean Connery instead... 😁
I don't think Bram Stoker would work, though. He just doesn't have that "good guy" look you need for a role like that. He's got that natural villain vibe, and Dumbledore is basically the total opposite of that...
Charles Sanchez6 said:Yeah, Phoenix is awesome!!! 👍 Honestly, even better than Potter himself!! 😁 😛
I mean, isn't everything basically better than the original Potter lately? 😁 Just another movie flaw: the lead is kind of underwhelming, but you still stick around just to see what the rest of the cast is doing. 😁
Keith Robinson2, I haven't actually read the book, but people tell me that Harry "grows up" in the novel too, so it makes sense that he looks older in the film. But you're totally right, those kids have changed so much since that first movie... As for whether Radcliffe is done playing Harry altogether, I haven't heard anything about that. 😕 Even if he's a bit awkward, it would be such a shame if it were true, because then it just wouldn't feel like the same world anymore. They'll eventually have to recast Dumbledore, which is inevitable, but the others are still around... 😁
Oh, I totally forgot about the snake! You're right, even that one wasn't really all that great... 😁 But man, that phoenix was awesome. It actually felt like the real deal. 🙂
No, no, I had to turn on the magic... who else is going to handle Dobby besides me? 🙂
Uh, what critics? Do you honestly think any of them are objective? Every critic is just as subjective as I am, if not more biased since they're basically on someone's payroll. Besides, movies aren't made for critics, they're made for the audience... I never understood why anyone thinks a critic's opinion should carry more weight than ours. Whatever. 😛
It's such a shame they have to recast Dumbledore... He was perfect. 😢
Blurry, just totally blurry. My memory is like a sieve, especially when it comes to the little things, and honestly, I couldn't make heads or tails of Snape's potion ingredients no matter how hard I tried... 😁
ruggedjackal46 said:A buddy and I decided we're definitely checking out the third installment just because Snape and Malfoy are supposed to have much bigger roles this time around... 👍
Yeah, my friends who actually read the book immediately tried to comfort me about it... 😁
I wasn't really planning on buying the DVDs, but since everyone else is, I felt like I had to just to keep up once they drop, so I ended up grabbing the first one already... Can you believe how annoying it is? They have these extra deleted scenes featuring Snape, but you can only see them if you beat certain video games... For example, you have to know exactly which bricks Hagrid hit with his umbrella to make that wall open up, or those scenes with Snape's potions... ugh, gross. I don't think I'll ever actually see those clips, and the only friend of mine who managed to unlock them completely forgot what the answers were... Looks like I'll have to rewatch the movie again, maybe take some actual notes while I do it... 😁
ruggedjackal46 said:How can the guy playing Harry be so unlikable and just... bad?
Gosh, I completely forgot his name... but yeah, he's totally underwhelming to me. 😁 At least Ron and Hermione are great. 😁
And Snape is a total legend. Honestly, the only reason I even sat through the first one was because I'm such a huge fan of Rickman... I watched the second one too, and actually found the second one pretty entertaining. 😁 I mean, whoever doesn't love Dobby? All in all, the movie is perfect for a goofball like me... 😁
I hadn't heard of Jason Isaacs before that, but I immediately downloaded Patriot online right after because my friends told me he's an even bigger jerk in that one, and they weren't lying. The movie itself is trash, but he's definitely worth watching. 😁
I haven't actually read the books, and honestly, they aren't really my thing. You hit the nail on the head, slylynx8! Some people just don't know how to switch into "adult mode," so everything feels boring to them. (ruggedjackal46, give it a rest!) The movie is actually great if you're okay with a bit of childish fun. 😁 And finally, someone else who appreciates Rickman. 😁 Ugh, Branagh... what a total hack. 😁 He just didn't fit the part at all.
And Charles Sanchez6 clearly hasn't a clue. He thinks Isaacs is mediocre, yet he calls Dobby a genius—not only does the character have eyes the size of marbles, but they look so glassy and weird... Ugh. Total amateurs. 🙄🙂
Don't even get me started on the Genie! That was the very first thing I tried to do, and I nearly fried my player for good. I managed to limp it back to life somehow—honestly, I have no idea how I pulled it off—just enough to get the RC1 working again. Then, being totally naive, I called up this computer repair shop to see if they could help me out. One of the techs there actually suggested that if I didn't mind risking the warranty, I should just download some Genie software from the web. Of course, I completely forgot that I'd already been through that nightmare once before. The guy wouldn't let it go, though. He ended up testing it on his own PC at home, and he ran into the exact same disaster I did. He actually called me the next day in a total panic, telling me "don't you dare" try it. After that, we tried to hunt down a player that came pre-decodered, but it’s like they don't even exist. At least, not around here in the States. So, here I am, still stuck using my old American imports. A standard player for the TV is usually decodered—it plays everything—but like I said, I'm not really a TV person. I have a massive collection of movies at home, but I haven't actually watched a single one of them yet. 😁 Only I could manage something like this...
Thomas Mendoza5 said:If you’ve got a DVD player hooked up to your computer, and then run that through your graphics card to your TV—it works fine without it, but honestly, there's no point borrowing a standalone player just to watch stuff on a monitor—you can just use the software to set whatever region code you want... as many times as you need...
Have you given that a shot? I did... 😢, and you can swap the code five times, but once you hit that fifth one, it sticks. Mine locked me out at Code RC 1., so now I can only watch US or Canadian DVDs on my PC. 🙄
I guess I’m one of those weirdos who actually prefers watching movies on a computer rather than the big screen. It’s much easier on the eyes. Sure, I have a few US imports, but most of my collection is local...
Most newer TVs should work fine, but I only provided the EU addresses because that’s where the color standards and the codes actually line up perfectly.
But since you brought it up, you really have to watch out on eBay... those are private auctions, and sometimes people list American movies without being clear about it, though they usually mention it. Code RC 1.
Charles Sanchez6 said:Man, I am telling you... Snape is absolutely top-tier. Honestly, if he were my uncle or even just some neighbor down the street, I’d be set...😁
I’m feeling that "something like that" vibe... Honestly, Rickman is just on another level for me... 😁😁😁
Not me!... 🙂 Honestly, I don't find it all that special... or even mind-blowingly good... not really... 🙂
You really think so? Like, it isn't just pure evil? Honestly... I think it's actually pretty cool... 🙂
It’s like you’re some kind of high-end graphics processor or something... if only we could see all those tiny little imperfections in his animation that most people just breeze right over... 😛 You managed to get totally into everything else, but when it comes to him... you just aren't feeling it at all. Come on, pull yourself together, please... 😁
Maybe they couldn't have done it any better, but then again, what I said is just my own take on things... It’s all subjective. To me, a trick only feels truly brilliant when it looks "real"... But Dobby is just so obviously artificial that it's a bit much... 🙂
Someone already mentioned that these levels are just way too broad. And honestly, I’m inclined to agree. It’s actually pretty hard to categorize this stuff at all. To me, it feels a lot like intelligence... some people just start with better advantages, and even so, they'll still end up learning from someone else eventually...
