Dealing with depression? in Health ·
Expecting people dealing with depression to just snap out of it is like expecting your buddy in a wheelchair to suddenly stand up and sprint across a football field.

Once you grow enough to realize this is actually a medical condition, you'll start grasping how it works and the toll it takes. Until then, I honestly don't see any point or reason to even bother talking to you.

Man, things can get so awkward sometimes. I’m basically useless at work right now because it’s easy enough when I’m just chilling in my office chair in front of the computer. But like, a few minutes ago I was out in the field and I couldn't even bring myself to plug in an Ethernet cable for some older ladies. Well, I *could* have, but the cable is probably busted somewhere and honestly, I just don't have the energy to squat down on the ground and try again. Might just call it a day and head home for a couple days if it makes sense.

Man, why do you keep harping on about using some razor? 🙂

In an area that’s already inflamed and basically a breeding ground for bacteria—perfect for every kind of infection imaginable—you really think I should be out there slicing at myself?

My dad deals with this annoying condition too. After what feels like twenty years, he finally got surgery done at the Mayo Clinic. He still has to be careful and get regular checkups, though, because it pops up again every now and then, just much less intense than before.

All my life, old folks have been nagging me: eat more fruit, eat more soup, don't sit on cold surfaces, carry a cushion when you're driving, watch the spicy and salty stuff.

Would you guys even listen to them if they told you that? We'd be such wimps if we actually followed all those rules, right?

Anyway, yesterday it started itching a little. My first thought was, "Ah, I probably just caught a chill," and I didn't think much of it. But last night, out of nowhere, I felt this discomfort and a dull ache. I checked, and yeah, there's definitely something there. There's this lump near the opening, maybe about a third of the way around. It's thick, about the size of two or three peas. It hurts like hell, honestly... it's so distracting. It hasn't bled yet, which I hope stays that way, though sometimes it feels like bleeding might actually relieve the pressure and the pain.

Why did this happen? Probably because a few days ago I went a bit overboard with the hard liquor. I'm hitting five espressos a day, barely touch any soup, and I'm obsessed with homemade relish, ketchup, mustard, and all that junk. Plus, I've been sitting on cold spots lately; I remember clearly sitting on a concrete floor a few days back while messing with some electrical wiring. And for the last few days, I've been hanging out at home, spending hours on a ladder. That's probably a great setup for something like this to flare up.

The only thing bothering me is, how fast can this crap go away?

Could you explain why you feel that way? Like, what kind of "symptoms" are we talking about here? Is it more psychological stuff, psychosomatic things, or maybe hormonal?

I know there are certain cases where hormone therapy can actually help manage things.

Give us a little more to work with, man. It’s hard for people to weigh in if you don't give them enough info to go on.
Does acupuncture actually work? in Health ·
So, my mom and my best friend both went for acupuncture to deal with their migraines. And honestly? It actually worked for both of them. The only weird side effect they mentioned was just being super hungry afterward. But yeah, the migraines have been way less frequent, and one of them says they've pretty much vanished. They told us we should probably head back every six months to keep the momentum going.

Richard Fox632 said:Isn't Total Care meant for soft lenses? Or am I tripping?

The pair I've got is actually for hard and semi-rigid (RGP) lenses. 👍

Yeah, Dr. Gabriel is the man. Honestly, best eye doctor in the US.

Also, kind of going off-topic here. After sticking with Alcon solutions for four years, I finally made the jump to Total Care two days ago, and I’m actually surprised by how much better it feels. My lenses just feel "lighter" and way more comfortable to wear.

The cure for all your problems? It’s called pure bliss. Honestly, you probably have massive blisters on your hands by now—either from working too hard or just from spending way too much time online typing out nonsense. 😁

At the end of the day, a human being wrote the code. No matter how slick an algorithm gets, a computer is never going to be able to predict every single little quirk or edge case.
Just some professional insight.

🤣 Does anyone know if that Chinese man has any cheaper GP lenses? 😁

Thanks for the good advice, but man... what kind of exercise is supposed to fix a -7 myopia plus astigmatism? Like, even laser surgery barely touches that, let alone some tiny little glasses. Honestly, if we're talking biology—it's like any other muscle in your body, right? You work it out, it gets stronger, you stop, it atrophies. So, isn't the effect from these glasses just temporary?
It took me about 10 days before I could even walk around my house comfortably and get my eye used to having something sitting on it. On day one, I could only handle 20 minutes, then maybe 30 the next, just pushing it as far as I could. But honestly, it took a full month before I felt okay wearing them to work, driving, and all that stuff.

Even now, like 3 or 4 years later, I still get those moments where things suddenly double, blur, or my eye feels weirdly "dry," which can be super annoying or distracting. Most of the time though, you totally forget they're even there. I’ve definitely tried to rub my eye before, completely forgetting I had lenses in.

I'm using Johnson & Johnson, but I don't really know what your experiences have been with them. If any other brand could actually make these semi-rigid lenses feel more comfortable, I'm all ears for your advice. And yeah, same thing here... whenever I take them out of that slimy solution and try to pop them straight in, everything is blurry and they feel heavy. But if I rinse them out and hit them with a drop of artificial tears before putting them in, everything turns out great and crystal clear.

Out of all the local guys, Malcom X is the only one worth your time—just steer clear of everyone else. Honestly, just head into New York City and try to track down Vlahović somehow; he lives nearby and he’s basically the gold standard for kids.

At 6 years old, you're way too young for laser eye surgery.
Red spots on skin? in Health ·
Don't forget about sun allergies this time of year. I've actually struggled with the sun myself—didn't have any issues until I hit my mid-20s. Usually, it just shows up as these little allergic spots on my skin. It feels like people are becoming allergic to pretty much everything lately, though.

My old man’s been dealing with this crap for over 30 years. Both internal and external issues. Seriously, he’s tried every cream out there, herbal teas, you name it. He even messed with his diet. Changing what he eats helped a little, but it didn't fix everything. It wasn't until he went under the knife about 9 years ago that things actually cleared up. If I remember right, it was Dr. Smith at a clinic in New York. Since then, he just goes in for an annual checkup and hasn't had any trouble.

I know he booked the appointment himself, but the doctor basically "handled" him before he could even get a word in edgewise. I think it was some kind of ligation method or something like that.
Anyone else dealing with hand tremors? :) in Health ·
Honestly, I’m thinking it might be a potassium or lithium deficiency. Obviously, you should check with a pro who actually knows their stuff. It also happens when your muscles are just totally wiped out. I used to get this all the time after hitting the gym or if I was doing heavy lifting without being in shape. Like, you’ll sit down to relax for maybe thirty minutes after working hard and suddenly your bicep starts twitching on its own.

Maybe worth seeing a neurologist?
Dangerous fungi to watch out for in Health ·
If thongs are actually bad for your health, then they’re definitely doing a number on men too.
The only way they could be dangerous is if you've already got a weak heart.

Honestly, whenever I see my girl in a thong, my heart skips a beat for real.😍
I’m using Johnson & Johnson. Honestly, I'm pretty happy with them. I just grab some artificial tears, cleaning solution, and the stuff for storage and softening whenever I need to. My little trick is that I always rinse my lenses after taking them out of the solution—it makes my vision way clearer and stops things from getting foggy, plus the lenses feel super slippery that way. Usually, I just take them out, rinse them off, drop a single tear into the lens well, and boom, they're ready to go. Been doing this for 3 years now and everything's been fine.

I wear gas permeable lenses because of my astigmatism, and I’m actually stoked with how they work since they slowed down my prescription growth almost entirely (my left eye stopped completely, and my right went from a 0.25 change per year to basically nothing). That’s a huge reason why I stick with GP lenses instead of soft ones.

Johnson & Johnson also makes these all-in-one solutions; a buddy at work uses them. It cleans, preserves, and stores them overnight... just one bottle does it all. I think the 300ml size is about $17.

I use Allstate protein removal tablets maybe once every 2 or 3 months when my lenses start feeling a bit "heavy" on my eyes or my vision gets slightly blurry. I just pop them in the case, drop a tablet in, and come back for them 4 or 5 hours later. Then I rinse them and put them back in the storage solution for a few hours. Just a hunch, but I feel like it's better to give them a good soak so those enzymes don't end up irritating my eyes if the lenses aren't rinsed perfectly.
Around here in Des Moines, most gyms charge about 100 bucks a month.$53

But seriously, what do you mean by asking which sport is "in"? Like, do people actually pick a sport just because it’s trendy? I don't get it. I think people should just do whatever they actually enjoy, whatever makes them feel good. From my perspective, I don't even buy shoes just because they're "in," so why would I pick a sport based on popularity? Still, I see it all the time at the gym—people who are clearly just there to be seen. They show up to look cool, chat for half an hour, strut around a little, do maybe half their workout, and then walk out feeling like they totally nailed the trend.
Migraine relief help? in Health ·
I'm with Max on this one. If it’s a physical issue, all that energy clearing stuff—like acupuncture or reiki or whatever—isn't gonna fix it.

I've got an ergonomic exercise ball at home if that's what you mean. I'm actually sitting on it right now. But bringing it into the office? Yeah, that'd be a bit much.

Look, things have actually been getting better since I picked up that Hespov anatomical mat and started using a Tempur pillow. Plus, hitting the gym consistently for the last four months has helped too.

My job basically requires me to sit slumped in an armchair like a total couch potato, staring at my monitor just inches away because I’m obsessing over tiny details. If I don't fix that, I'll be stuck doing this for years instead of just days.

Yeah, obviously my chiropractor can crack my back and get everything back where it belongs—that's part of the process. But if I'm constantly doing things the wrong way every single day, all the adjustments in the world won't help. I need a lifestyle change.

But hey, that's still just one of those many triggers for migraine and other headaches.

And yeah, I had the CT. They told me there’s nothing going on inside my head 😁 so... basically, it's empty space. 😎
