So, I’ve been on Effexor for about five months now (taking 35.7mg in the morning). What makes this one unique compared to other antidepressants is that it seems to have a much shorter half-life—around 10 hours, if my memory serves me right. Over the last week, I've been dealing with this wave of anxiety right when I wake up; it hits hard, then slowly tapers off, especially about an hour after I take my dose. On top of that, even though I'm getting a solid 7 to 8 hours of sleep, I still feel completely wiped out and exhausted. I suspect the anxiety might be linked to that shorter half-life. I'm curious to know if anyone else taking Effexor, or antidepressants in general, has dealt with similar symptoms. Thanks!!
I just wanted to drop in quickly to share a bit of advice so you don't end up feeling as miserable as I do today after abruptly quitting my Velafax (37.5mg dose). Let me tell you, the side effects from stopping so suddenly are definitely not something you want to experience. Luckily, once I take my next dose, things seem to settle down within an hour. Seriously, learn from my mistake.
(Please, just don't ask me why I decided to do this... 🤦)
I really hope this isn't a permanent issue, because if it is, I think I'm going to have to jump ship from Velax. I can't even manage to write a single post without making mistakes; I'm constantly hitting the wrong keys. It's actually getting a bit scary... 😲
Over the last month, I’ve noticed a real decline in my cognitive sharpness. My memory is slipping, I'm becoming increasingly forgetful, and I even find myself blanking on basic names and terms more often than not.. 😵 Honestly, I have a nagging suspicion that Velax might be the culprit here. Is it possible that AD-ov could be playing a role in this? Does anyone have any insight?
I honestly can't believe we're still having this debate. It feels like every time I log on, someone is trying to reinvent the wheel or argue against common sense. At this point, if you aren't keeping up with the basic standards of the community, you're just making extra work for everyone else. It’s frustrating, frankly. kaže: It honestly makes zero sense. The VA has enough authority to prescribe things like antidepressants or benzodiazepines on their own without even involving a psychiatrist—and Oxazepam falls right into that category. Plus, once they do send you to a specialist, there’s always that chance they’ll decide to stick strictly to the psychiatrist's orders, regardless of any other treatments you're already undergoing. I don't see any logical reason why they wouldn't just prescribe Paxil instead. Usually, the standard practice is for the VA to stay out of the medication management once a psychiatrist takes over, but let's be real: those rules are incredibly flexible when they feel like it.
From what I've gathered, it turns out that primary care physicians aren't actually authorized to prescribe psychotropic medications on their own. It's a bit of a letdown, unfortunately.
Maybe you should try talking to him directly. Just tell him you're desperate for something to help with the insomnia and let him decide what he thinks is best for you. Since you can't get an appointment with your psychiatrist right now, that’s your best bet. If that doesn't work, you can always head to the ER. Tell them you haven't slept in days and that your PTSD is making it impossible to even close your eyes. They really ought to take you seriously. There is absolutely no reason for you to be suffering like this.
I laid everything out for them, explaining how much that Oxazepam helps—which, by the way, was originally prescribed to me by my old military doctor rather than a psychiatrist—but I still got nowhere. It’s frustrating. Honestly, it feels like you practically have to stage a complete mental breakdown just to get taken seriously at the ER, doesn't it?

Man, I really don't have the energy to deal with changing my firearms permit now. It’s such a headache... Who knows who I might end up running into if I'm not careful.
Brandon Mitchell said:Napokoon, this is actually a decent topic for once, but honestly, everyone here is such a total hack that nobody’s willing to contribute anything worthwhile. This is officially the last time I’m bothering to post a thread like this on this forum...
Hmm, have you considered that maybe the people reading this simply don't have an answer that would actually help you? They might not have gone through anything similar, so they'd rather stay quiet than spout nonsense. I get that you had certain expectations when you started this thread, but honestly, it isn't very polite to lash out at other members just because things aren't playing out exactly how you hoped. Let's just give it some time; who knows, you might actually stumble upon some solid advice if you wait a bit.
Look, I’m struggling to wrap my head around something here. If I was originally prescribed oxazepam for my insomnia through my primary care doctor—on his own initiative—but now that a new physician has taken over, he refuses to refill it without a sign-off from a specialist I haven't been able to see for two months... where is the damn logic in that?
Alright, so this would be this location. From what I gather, Master and Altec are meeting near the church, while Daisy will be waiting out front along with the rest of the forum members showing up.
@LoisKent I’ll actually be passing right by Kvatrić anyway, so if you want to meet up in front of your building and head over together, just let me know.
In any case, I’d love for everyone to be there by 8:00 PM—maybe even a few minutes early—so we can snag some decent seats. Based on the email, it sounds like it's a case of first come, first served.
Your reservation is officially confirmed. Please keep in mind that all bookings remain valid until 8:00 PM on the day of the show. The performance kicks off at 8:30 PM.
Many thanks, Laugh Studio
*P.S. If you arrive early, you'll have your pick of the best seats. The box office opens daily at 7:00 PM.*
*P.S.2 You can cancel your reservation as late as 6:00 PM on the day of the performance.*
Alright, the reservation is all set. We should have some feedback to look over tomorrow. Here is the list of folks who are officially in: lonefalcon41, restlesstiger49, goldengardener51, AngryNomad, me-going-crazy, Fitcher, Larry Lewis, Carl Rivera43, Saltillo.
I'll follow up later with the specific venue details and where we're meeting up.
Whew, I hope I’m not running too late with this. Anyway, I wanted to touch on the post by daisy-n. If you're interested, please shoot me a PM by 10:00 PM tonight—I'm heading to bed early, so don't take too long!

Not all the time, though. I actually promised someone my ear! 😁

😂
It’s just like Samson—all that strength comes from having long hair. Though, in my case, I think my intelligence is inversely proportional to my hair length. And let's be honest, it's all just overcompensation for having a small penis. That's why I grow my hair out and carry around a massive phone. 😂
