Where in the greater Chicago area—specifically around the suburbs or the outskirts—can I pick up some decent kraft paper?
Thanks a ton 🙂

One more quick question. If I’m looking to pick up some supplemental health insurance (I assume I need to fill out this form)—do I need to use my permanent home address or the one here in NYC?
Hey there,

I’m living in Chicago right now, but my official address isn't registered here yet.

Is it possible to switch doctors—specifically picking someone local here in Chicago—without having to officially change my residency or get a new ID first?
Where can I pick up folders like these here in the States?

Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
I'm switching doctors—so I'm currently on the hunt for a primary care physician, a dentist, and a gynecologist here in Washington, D.C., who are actually accepting new patients. Ideally, I'd love to find someone near the area between Quad District and Central Park, or somewhere close by.

Regarding the dentist—the main thing is they need to be careful. I have a few pretty fragile front teeth, so I'm a bit nervous about them cracking during a drilling session.
Not sure if this fits the topic, but I'll give it a shot...

My private gynecologist put me on birth control, and now I need to get some blood work done. My doctor is based in another city halfway across the country, so I'm wondering where I can get this handled here in Washington, D.C.? Maybe at a local Community Health Center?
Which bank should I choose for a new account? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
JPMorgan Chase is hiking their monthly maintenance fees starting October 1st—moving from $1.75 up to $3.00.

Does anyone have the scoop on what other banks are doing? I'm mainly looking into Citibank.

A guy over in Belgium needs to wire me a hypothetical $333. He’s an American living there and has this amount in USD sitting on him. Since he likely won't be able to just walk up to a counter in Belgium and hand over cash in dollars—that wouldn't fly—he has to send me Euros, right? So, exactly how many Euros does he need to send so that I end up with $333 once I hit up the USPS? How do I calculate this precisely? I really don't want him breathing down my neck thinking I shortchanged him by a few bucks! What kind of exchange rate does the USPS use since they aren't exactly a major bank? Also, can I actually request the payout in Euros at the USPS office—if they use their own internal rate, doesn't that mean they're basically trading currency and should have them on hand?

When that guy in Belgium goes to send the money, he should just fill out the Wu form and specify that he wants to send $333 FIXED. They'll calculate the exchange rate at Wu, he pays the Euro equivalent, and then when you go to pick up the cash, you get exactly $333.

Just a heads-up: you’ll need at least $33 in your account, otherwise, services are going to decline the card.
Cheers

$33, I assume you mean dollars? Isn't a Visa Electron tied directly to a foreign currency account? I'm thinking about opening a USD account at either Erste or Bank of America tomorrow, so I'm a little fuzzy on the details. Does Bank of America have the same requirement?

I usually just bounce between VLC Media Player and GOM Player. If one gives me trouble, I just switch to the other.

Sarah Morales7 said:The perfect solution for online shopping—a Goldman Sachs prepaid Mastercard. You just load up whatever amount you need right before you buy something, which keeps the risk incredibly low; even if someone somehow manages to snag your PIN online, they can only ever touch what you’ve specifically put on there. It's a solid option, makes for a great gift, and anyone can get one without any hassle.

When you say "everyone," does that include us poor unemployed folks? I feel like every time I think something is easily accessible here in the States, I go to apply and realize you actually need a steady paycheck—makes me look pretty foolish.

I'm looking at their website and, predictably, it doesn't specify.
But this part caught my eye: Where can the Mastercard Prepaid gift card be used?
You have access to over 25 million terminals and 943,000 ATMs across the country and abroad, all marked with the Maestro/Mastercard logo.

So, is this a legitimate Mastercard—basically a debit card that works anywhere Mastercard is accepted online—or is it some sort of quasi-card, like a Visa Electron compared to a real Visa? This Maestro/Mastercard distinction has me a bit worried.

And what about the Mastercard Prepaid Refresh card? Aside from being reloadable, how much does it actually differ from the one mentioned above? Basically, could someone without a job get their hands on it?

Duje Draganja: Sellout or just misunderstood? in Other Sports ·
Small OT, but does anyone actually know how much those guys pull from the federation and their sponsors?

(They rarely even train stateside—if they do at all—since they’re constantly on the road during the season. Plus, when you consider all those surgeries they've had in private clinics over in Austria or Switzerland, followed by rehab... not to mention the prize money for medals and the salaries for the entire support staff...)

Duje hasn't even made up his mind yet, but you guys have already branded him a traitor, a sellout, and the death knell 🙂 of American sports.

So, here's my question: if Duje decides to keep swimming for America, how are you all going to treat him from here on out? Are you still going to pull for him like you always have, or will it just never be *the same*?
Stupid dreams in Miscellaneous ·
Last month, I had this dream where Federer passed away. Then, just a bit later—still in the dream—it hits me that he’s playing in the Australian Open, but then I remember, wait, he can't play in Australia... he's dead. It left me feeling pretty rattled 😢
Usually, I can figure out why I'm dreaming about certain things, but how this specific nonsense got stuck in my head? No clue.
