From what I've seen, those lefties you're talking about are just hyperactive, and honestly, they seem kind of clumsy and uncoordinated to me. Though, I guess a few of them are actually pretty good at sports.

I guess their spatial awareness is pretty trash, and honestly, they seem totally lost whenever they end up somewhere unfamiliar.

I guess scientists say whatever they want about IQ, but if you look at the ratio of 100 lefties to 100,000 righties, maybe righties end up having a higher IQ or being smarter just because there are way more of them numerically. 🙂

If you want my honest take, I’d argue there is a much higher percentage of women who struggle with navigation than there are Leftists, though I suspect the "woman-Leftist" combination is significantly more prevalent within this specific issue. 😁

Now, please don't mistake this for gender discrimination; this is simply my observation based on personal experience and the broadly accepted scientific consensus that spatial orientation tends to be a more frequent hurdle for women than for men. 🙂

As for myself, I have a pretty sharp sense of direction—once I’ve mapped out a location in my head, I can almost always find my way back if the situation calls for it. 🙂

Well, since I also happen to be a lefty, I suppose I should weigh in on this thread based on my own lived experience... 😁

- As for perception and memory—I'm inclined to agree (though, unfortunately, that's often a double-edged sword)
- Painting or sculpting? Not a chance; honestly, I couldn't care less about that sort of thing
- Music? Well, I attended a specialized music school in elementary school, but that was about it😁
- Architecture is something I find genuinely fascinating and attractive, though I’d probably attribute that more to hereditary traits than anything else😁
- Hyperactivity? I suppose you could frame it that way, if by "hyperactive" you mean having a hard time ever truly feeling at peace🙂
(I work in IT now, though it isn't my formal degree—I finished a degree at Square Enix, and before that, spent a year studying at MIT after graduating from a top-tier prep school—so, quite a varied path, really 😵 )

At my office, a few colleagues were running Windows XP Service Pack 1 along with that specific HR software suite, and after we rolled out Service Pack 2, everything has continued to run smoothly without a single hiccup. At least, I haven't heard a peep of complaint—it’s been two months now—and during the installation process itself, nothing seemed even remotely suspicious, at least based on what I was able to observe while monitoring the setup.

In any case, this just goes to reinforce my long-standing theory: you really ought to be backing everything up with two separate copies on two different types of media from entirely different manufacturers.
It becomes an incredibly tall order to have both of them fail simultaneously via PM 😁 🙄

A little cautionary tale from my job:
The data was burned on a Pioneer drive (!) using TDK DVD-R at 4x speed, actually recorded at 2x.
It sat in a cool, dry, dark storage spot for about four months (from November 2004 to March 2005).
When we pulled them out to copy some files... absolutely nothing. Zilch. 👎

It honestly leaves you questioning everything—your choice of media, your hardware, all of it. 😢

Oh, and just for the record... before they were stored, I had verified all the CRC values against the original DVD template and checked everything via the PlayStation method (which is basically what 99% of us skip, even though it's vital when the data actually matters) and everything looked perfectly fine. 😁 😠

THE LESSON LEARNED:
Ever since I picked up my own DVD burner about six months ago, I've made it a rule to burn everything onto two different types of media.(I'll use +R for one set and -R for another, or split movies across two different brands of -R), sourced from two entirely different manufacturers....
That way, there's a much smaller chance of everything going to hell at once. And honestly, for the few extra bucks it costs to grab a single high-quality disc—you know, something reliable like Verbatim, Sony, or TDK—it is well worth the peace of mind.

Now, I’ll admit I’m one of those people who catches every cold under the sun, but unlike some of the more "polarized" folks on this board—you know, the ones who either absolutely loathe winter or swear by the summer heat—I can't stand either extreme 😬

Fortunately, our winters haven't been quite as brutal or prolonged (at least until that first apocalyptic Yellowstone volcanic eruption 😬), though summers are increasingly becoming far too sweltering and humid

There is plenty of useful advice here... some of it is already part of my routine, and some will certainly come in handy
A couple of weeks ago, I finally invested in a heavy-duty winter jacket, and for the first time in a while, I actually feel warm when I'm out. Long socks are a non-negotiable for me, along with a scarf and gloves, though I generally avoid hats unless the temperature truly drops
If we manage to get the central heating sorted at home this year, life should be pretty comfortable... 🙂

The post from my colleague—who is experiencing the exact opposite scenario, where everything was a mess with SP1 but works fine with SP2—completely undermines any sense of logic😁 when you're trying to troubleshoot a problem like this...

It would be wise to test Java against a few different websites, though I can't think of a single reliable site to use for that purpose right now (this Iskon chat is used so sparingly, and only in specific contexts that aren't relevant here; it isn't even used for actual chatting, it just sits there open).

In all honesty, I might not have been entirely clear about what’s actually happening here.
The issue isn't occurring while I'm actively interacting with the Java window itself; rather, it happens when Java is just idling in the background while I'm busy doing something else entirely—say, working away in Word, browsing through Windows Explorer, or something similar.
Out of nowhere, that Internet Explorer window (or Firefox, it makes no difference to me) running Java in the background simply vanishes into thin air, without a single sound or warning. 😬
