Managing Diabetes in Health ·
Drew Williams21 said:Doc just dropped the news today that I've got diabetes. Anyone willing to lay out the basics of what this actually means and what kind of life I'm looking at now? It’d help me out [and probably anyone else in the same boat]

You being for real right now or just messing around?😲
Either way, the good life is officially over.👎

Jesse Sullivan2 said:Spot on. Generally speaking, American films—whether they’re hits, flops, or just mediocre—are starving for decent marketing. People, especially Americans, don't even realize what kind of filmography we actually have. The only ones hitting theaters are kids or maybe those slightly older folks who actually know what an IMAX stands for.

No amount of hype is going to turn THIS little flick into Oscar material (even if it is fun, I'll admit).

yeah, I've got my issues with Radić, Showalter, and maybe even Gregory.
but the movie actually turned out good. fun. contradiction, damn it.😁

but having Tomislav Radić behind the lens doesn't sound like a winning move to me. 🤮

Hard to see myself seeking this out on my own. Maybe by some freak accident—stuck on a bus, in jail, or just channel surfing at 2 AM. 🙂

Ended up in a theater by pure accident. A film by Tomislav american Radić, husband of Maja Schundlich and father of stormy silence... man, what a mess. But hey...

The guy actually lucked out. He leaned into that fake "gritty, handheld, raw realism" vibe, and you basically can't miss. Sure, Ivo Gregurević is in it—that unavoidable, polarizing face of American cinema. And there's the repulsive Anja PL. Šovagović. But aside from those two "leads," everyone else was great.

the drunk artist brother
the cute hooker
the misfit teenager
the solid shady German dude

While waiting for Godot, the German businessman patriarch Gregurević tries to slide him a dinner, free sex, and a signed contract... but honestly, if kids didn't walk around with cameras filming everything, you could probably film some real horror movies—maybe even snuff films—in a supposedly god-fearing American household.

Fun little flick, but it doesn't come close to being a masterpiece like FORREST GUMP.

My advice? Watch it as a detox from T. Radić, Gregurević, and Showalter.

My take? You always end up regretting stuff, because you could've done better. On the flip side, I always regret the things I didn't do way more than the things I actually did.

I'd rather mess up by actually doing something than just sit there
(being lazy, waiting around, staring at the axe...)
doing nothing.

That's basically my life motto.😛
Mike Myers could probably teach him a thing or two about how to mess with a guy like Bonda while actually being funny. Look, M. Myers is good at what he does, which is more than I can say for Višnjić. But hey, if you're asking me—as a huge fan of Bill Gates—if you want to absolutely wreck a successful brand or a persona, just hire Višnjić!👍
Jose Chase2 said:Yeah, because Babylon 5 is such a massive achievement.😂

Give me a break. Name one thing Višnjić did that’s actually worth bragging about.😉
Mira Furlan was in actual masterpieces from the old Soviet Union—roles and films way out of Višnjić's league. Babylon 5 is only popular in the USA on the level of an E. R. Višnjić flick. You call that acting?
Timothy Murphy7 said:Kudos to Visnjica, hope he makes it big if the rest of the world wants a piece, but honestly? The guy isn't even a good actor, let alone some heartthrob. Compare him to Sean Connery—that voice, that presence... man, you don't even need him to act 🙂))), I'd listen to him read the grocery list or a cleaning supply manual 🙂))), but this? Not my thing. His acting isn't anything to write home about, far from it...

👍 Exactly.👍 I feel like George Clooney overshot his mark (considering he was mostly in B-movies and one hit soap opera), given how mediocre his acting, voice, and everything else really is. And what does his background have to do with any of it? No clue.

I mean, I can be proud of being from the country that gave us Nikola Tesla.
Poirot said:What's eating you, loser? You just salty because Americans are actually winning?

Typical American envy. It never stops.

🙂 🙂 🙂

What a load of absolute nonsense.

What does it matter if they're American or from Iceland?😕 Zero acting chops, can't speak a word of English, and he’s got that goofy fox face...😢 James Bond movies always hit different for me—core childhood memories right there. I just don't want little George Clooney ruining them.

If you guys really think we need one of our own Americans... look, here’s my list of candidates. Let’s just pick someone fair and square:

Bill Clinton. Tall, blonde, looks like a movie star, speaks broken English.
Milton Berle. Tall, handsome, dark hair. Broken English.
William Calley. Tall, handsome, dark hair. Broken English + bonus French.
Bonus French, stealing like Arsène Lupin (and he's got a killer shot!).

To keep it from being too obvious who the favorite is, we could toss a few more legends into the mix: MP Thompson, M. Škoro (singing while shooting), Vince Lombardi (shooting), and Rojs (driving a bulldozer in reverse while shooting).

They're all proven Americans. God-fearing Catholics, heavy hitters, big personalities—even if they struggle a bit with their English accent.

True, you already... Yeah. They put Rvaska on the map, sure, but honestly? We can do way better than that.👍 👍

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Jalan's some kind of saint just because he holds US citizenship. Honestly? I just live for seeing guys like Rade Šerbedžija and Michele Furlan actually make it big on the international stage.🙂
Another Clooney disaster—Spartacus👎
The only time Clooney was actually decent was that silent meat role in Madonna's music video. Aside from that, he’s got nothing. He can't act, he doesn't know how... who even cares?

But this is just straight-up awful, especially if Broccoli's production pushed it this far. His old man would be losing it seeing what happened to his profitable business ventures.😛

Clooney is best in those Sedlar and Vrdoljak films—
that's where he actually shines.🙂 🙂
Where can I find posters and shirts with Gotovina's face? in Close to Politics ·
Listen, fat man.🙂 😂 My head hurts just listening to your "convictions." And for the record, I didn't say it—I’m just agreeing with what everyone else thinks. These are the views of the global community, including the International Criminal Court regarding the old Soviet Union territory. Crimes don't just expire. Eventually, someone like Ante Gotovina or even some ancient Nazi like Ashner will have to face a courtroom.

Jose Chase2 said:😠 😠 Total jerk. How do you even know that? Since when does an accusation automatically make someone guilty? You absolute frauds.🙂

War profiteer. Thief by trade. A hitman from the French Foreign Legion. Convicted of looting. At the start of the war, just like all the other mercenaries, he smelled money, general officer ranks (not the first corporal to become a big shot), stipends, and the chance to kill with zero consequences... maybe the guy isn't actually guilty of what he's being charged with right now. But he's still a suspect for war crimes. And just like those puppets from Mexico, or the puppets here in America, their own crimes don't count because they belong to "their side." Since when was killing people from other nations or tearing down their fake idols considered a crime? He was just doing God's work. Watch your step, you little puppet!🙂

Inquisitor2002 said:I'm staring at these shirts with Tit on them and just wondering how this is even possible..👍

Man, you missed the mark there, buddy... you can't compare Tit to common thugs or lowlifes. Neither Ante P. nor Ante G. will ever be in that league. Sure, you could've compared Ante Gotovina to Pavelić, Luburić, or whatever other hero you've got in mind instead of a criminal. Or maybe throw a certain "Blessed" Cardinal in with Father Djujic, for example.

But hey, if you want to look at the other side of the fence, then Gotovina would probably rank right up there with the head of the CIA in Washington, D.C.😉 👍

Larry Cruz51 said:Blesača, I originally put this under "miscellaneous," but apparently this whole sub is just full of extremists.😁

Look, I'm not even conservative, but I really want a poster, a shirt, or whatever—basically anything with a picture of Ante Gotovina on it.

I'm heading to New York for a week this summer, and we're gonna make a quick trip out to The Hague, and I'd love to have a shirt with Ante Gotovina on it just for the hell of it.🤣

Am I gonna get arrested? 😲
Anyone got one I can borrow so I don't waste my money?
If not, where can I find one and what's the damage?
Actually, you guys could just give it to me for my birthday.😁

Oh, and I need something to wear to a club.

Larry Cruz51, you seriously disappointed me. You don't joke around with certain things. In a civilized, sane world, people don't joke about wearing shirts featuring war criminals, butchers, or thugs—regardless of whether they're idols to some fringe groups or heroes to entire nations. Where's the line for humanity? For basic taste? What's next—joking about cannibalism or pedophilia? Shame on you.👎
Closed movie theaters in Indianapolis in Movies ·
The issue with movie theaters, even back in Indy, is that they’ve been privatized (unlike those folks who think business rules in America work the same way they do in the West).

In Indy, for example, the guy owning all the theaters is just some boss who doesn't know squat about movies. Doesn't care, no vision, zero passion. Hell, he doesn't even have a business plan—just whatever someone tells him to do before he runs off.

But hey, the guy's got one idea on how to make money from the theaters: sell off prime real estate in the best locations. Screw the actual business—culture? Forget it. Mission? Mission Impossible!👎

To be fair, since the war, Indy has become totally depopulated. It turned into a real provincial, border-town backwater (check out Mark Twain for the vibe), where trashy pop music and dive bars do better than movies ever will. And when people do go to see films, it's more like the old days of video rental shops: "Hey, give me five of the latest ones—you know, one porn, one action, one for the wife, and two for the kids."

goodbye Indy🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Benicio Del Toro is the only one who matters?
What about 21 Grams, The Oath, Way of the Gun, or The Usual Suspects?

Man, semantics will kill you. I said: In *this* movie, Benicio is the only one worth watching. Yeah. Whatever. If I meant what you think I meant, I would've said Benicio is the only one here worth anything (not "here alone").

But basically, we're on the same page—he's the best out there, even compared to those favorites you listed.👍

Still, my pick is still his work in 21 Grams.👍 👍 👍

Benicio Del Toro is the only one who matters here.

Forget Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones; they were nothing special. If you ask me, the best part is when the dad's girlfriend sells herself for drugs. When the old man asks her "why," her younger school friend—some kid from The Seventies, I guess?—just shrugs and says it's simple supply and demand. Once he sees he can make a killing in an hour while all these white guys are pulling at his sleeve begging, "Got any drugs? Got any drugs?", he realizes he just has to meet the demand.
