I told them right out of the gate that this was a recipe for disaster and that we’d end up exactly where we are now

Actually, I think we're looking at closer to 5%, and they already leaked that figure two years ago when that Super Cup game was played over in Cairo..

I honestly think we’re looking at a massive scandal here in America rather than just some investigation that leads nowhere... they've started picking off the heavyweights one by one, from the Dallas Cowboys to the Washington Commanders and the New York Yankees.. it feels like they're just stuffing their rosters with bottom-tier clubs to pad the numbers..

NBC just did a quick news segment about how 12 different clubs are under investigation for suspected match-fixing... we'll see how that whole mess unfolds. So far, they only specifically called out Siena and mentioned two unnamed players caught up in the scandal.

Jose Miller17 said:Yeah, maybe I was being a bit unfair by only throwing out "conditional" negatives about the movie... but honestly, it actually caught me off guard in a good way since my expectations were pretty low. That transformation of the family—going from all crammed together in that tiny bed amidst total chaos to finally reuniting around a hospital bed—was just brilliant.

Honestly, that whole idea about a multimedia communal grave? That’s easily one of the most twisted, messed-up jokes I've ever come across. 👍 Japanese humor really is its own special breed of weird. 😁

Story from Osaka... interesting stuff, though it drags on a bit too long at times and feels slightly inconsistent—maybe people just have a hard time relating to the yellow characters, who knows?😁)...

Story from Osaka is an absolute gem... I mean, once the narrator starts hunting down her father about a third of the way through, you start thinking it might go in a totally different direction, but by the time the full story finally unfolds at the end, you’re just left with this incredible feeling. 👍

And while you're at it, have Nicole Kidman pour you some ice-cold Bud Light while Halle Berry smokes for you.😁
Guys... this is basically 100% support for Monaco.. 😎
Chloe Palmer2 said:AS Monaco fans...? 😂 Honestly, it’s like life on Mars—people suspect they exist, but there's zero proof yet...😁

According to the latest scientific data, AS Monaco fans definitely exist... they just don't actually live in Monaco.😎
ruggedjackal46 said:Technically, that’s a mess because we'd have to scrap this whole thread just to start a new one.🤔
But honestly, I don't think we even need a poll. Everyone can just drop their take and explain why they feel that way. It works fine either way.🙂

.. okay .. you're right .. but hey, you aren't the only one weighing in here.😎

We could spend all day dissecting this movie and typing out essays about Swordfish, but at the end of the day, it’s just total garbage—a complete nothingburger. 👎 ..

I have this occasional lapse in judgment where I become way too tolerant of bad cinema (it happens to me from time to time 🙄 )... I was watching this flick on FOX... right at the start, when Travolta starts talking about "Dog Afternoon," you might actually be tricked into thinking there's a decent story here, but within seconds, once the flashy, overproduced trash hits the screen, it's obvious the movie has zero substance. It's pure naivety, man. 😎
Let's see how this plays out... after everything that happened, it’s Porto vs. Monaco in the Super Bowl, and honestly, it's hard to argue that either team didn't earn their spot 👍 .. so, who are you guys pulling for? Who takes the trophy? Personally, I think Porto has a slight edge, but my heart is with those absolute madmen from Monaco 🙂 🙂 ..

Hey mods, can we get a poll up? Porto or Monaco? Thanks

.. and maybe time it so people can vote right up until the day before the big game

.. in the meantime, just get me a Budweiser and some drinks for the crew 🙂 🙂

Emily Torres2 said:Well, since you're really twisting my words now: that’s exactly why I can't stand Mel's Passion, whereas I actually dig The Last Seduction, where a guy gets to get married, sleep with someone, and have kids (look at how gorgeous she is, like Linda Fiorentino, not Lovelace😁 )

I know who everyone is in Dogma, but honestly, you aren't going to find anyone better than Alanis Morissette (it's gotta be sexless, comprende?)

but man, I would do Jesus's cousin soooooo badly. Ugh.

Look, Scorsese gets Jesus... Mel is just weak. 😎

Well, that's just great... 🙂 🙂 You're totally tripping, amigo... Linda is just the last (well, second to last) descendant—basically Jesus's cousin, not God. 😎

Emily Torres2 said:Alanis Morissette is basically my God—if there actually is a deity out there, I really hope she's as cool as Alanis.

I'm with you on that, amigo, though I've always pictured God looking more like Lara Flynn Boyle back before she dropped down to like 80 pounds 😎 .. what do you think?

I'd definitely put my money on her being the more subtle one here, too. 😎

..back to Maristella 😈

So, I just caught Summer of Kikujiro, the first installment in that 5-film Japanese cinema series playing at the MM Center... the theater was tiny, but it was absolutely packed; people were literally sitting on the floor and crowding the entrance just to get a look.

The movie came out in 1999, which puts it just a year before the legendary Brother... honestly, Summer of Kikujiro is basically a road movie, but done in that specific Japanese way—or better yet, it’s a road movie through the lens of Takeshi Kitano. 😎 It kicks off during the summer break, and we quickly learn that even hardworking little American kids need a vacation every now and then. 😲 We follow Masao, a kid with a pretty heavy expression who lives with his grandma; he's miserable because his mom is far away, though his grandma tries to console him by saying, "She's working there, and when you're older, you can go visit her." But life in the city is dull for Masao, especially since there isn't even any summer soccer practice... so, he decides he's going to find his mother. Kikujiro's wife hands over 50,000 yen to her husband, the grumpy old Kikujiro (Kitano), to take the boy to the city where his mom lives. Being the practical guy he is, Kikujiro decides to try and make a quick buck betting on bicycle races. 😁 And that’s how Masao's big adventure begins—it’s a summer he won't remember for finding his mother (since she's moved on to a new family), but rather for the bond he forms with this unconventional, eccentric older guy he only learns the name Kikujiro for at the very end, and for all the oddballs they encounter along the way: a weird biker duo, a writer searching for inspiration, a young couple who hitches a ride with them, and even a total creep...
If you're a fan of Kitano's work, I highly recommend checking out Summer of Kikujiro. 👍 (7.5/10)

I'm a little out of the loop, if you know what I mean. 😛

Look, you aren't exactly winning any awards here, but consider this your one and only warning. A few more screw-ups like this and you're getting kicked off the forum. 😉

I'd say Dogma is alright, though I’m inclined to agree that Trader is Smith's best work and Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back is easily his worst... but hey, who knows? Jersey Girl Another solid movie in the making... though right now, it’s still a work in progress. The Green Hornet

My bad 😎 .. haha .. 😵 the only thing I forgot to mention was where this all actually takes place, so big thanks to Robert Wood2 👍
