10 Klein Jägermeister 😈

Maria Peterson said:I feel like I've heard that somewhere too... read it in passing, maybe. Like they're intentionally messing up the numbers during translation.

Facts. I can deal with people messing up complex math or being too lazy to convert miles to kilometers or pounds to kilograms. But when they translate "five" as "three"? That’s just a broken internal database. No other way to look at it. 🙂

Still can't get over that massive blunder where Shackleton’s translator swapped an albatross for a pelican. Like, seriously, what were they thinking?

The note is just her adding context to her own piece. Yeah, she wrote the actual text, but that "hats off" comment? That part was all me. Is that still confusing? 😉

Anyway, enough with the off-topic stuff. Who else actually liked the movie?

Maria Peterson said:Ugh, honestly, you find mistakes like that in basically every movie... someone says "thirty-five" and some lazy translator just writes "55."
sometimes I think they do it on purpose

You totally used that term in the wrong context 😉

As for the numbers, I'm 100% sure they're messing them up on purpose. 🙂

Melancholy Beaver said:I can't really blame them for the translation issues. The whole movie is packed with wordplay that just doesn't work when you swap languages—like "Tupe" being "to pay" or "hair" vs "hare." It’s impossible to catch those jokes in another language.

Wordplay is my specialty... and yeah, some stuff just doesn't translate.
I wasn't trashing untranslatable idioms, just basic words. "Launch" isn't lunch, and "carrot" isn't karate. Even someone like me, who usually misses all the nuances in translation, can see they aren't even trying. It's just lazy.

Maria Peterson said:OP, hats off to you. Respect. 😁

Dammit. 😬 It should've been a thumbs down.

An op-ed should be attached to an original piece, not someone else's. 😉

Reminds me of my sister with those big eyes.😁

Great movie, actually cheered me up. Solid animation, funny bits, and surprisingly wasn't as predictable as I thought it’d be. Only downside was the subtitles—total garbage translations.

Oh, and what's the deal with the penguins from Madagascar? They were a total letdown.

Frank Howard79 said:Nah, where's the black panther?
I'm with him 80%. I'll skip the lynx, though—it's got a limp instead of a tail.

Black panther and the lynx's last stand 😬

Maybe risk a limp, but those cute little tufts on its face make up for the lack of a tail. 😍

1. Banana frappe with vanilla sugar and whipped cream
2. Cocoa with honey
3. Hot chocolate
4. Jacobs instant vanilla cappuccino
5. Cold goat milk

A Radiohead cover of the Beatles song "Something"... look, I love both bands, but that was just pure trash.

Melissa Collins41 said:just one damn Corto, man!!!

My bad, I should've said comic book superheroes instead of just comic heroes. 😳

But yeah, obviously Corto takes the top spot. 😍
And Dylan Dog would probably be right up there too... 🙂

lonebison37 said:Speaking of hot guys, did you see Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?😲 damn.
The guy drives me insane otherwise, though. Like, seriously.😳

Man, that movie blew me away... weirdly enough, I can't stand him or Kate Winslet, and Kirsten Dunst isn't really my thing either (Spider-Man's girl—who actually likes her?).

Top 3 sexiest comic book heroes:
1. Spider-Man
2. Phantom
3. Spawn
Ugh, just realized none of them show their faces... maybe that's why they're hot. Keeps things mysterious. 😳

Man, there are just a few movies where I can't decide if the lead or the supporting role was better (Fight Club or My Own Private Idaho)... and yeah, Johnny Depp absolutely kills it no matter what he's playing. 😍

California, the Pacific Northwest, NYC, and even Pittsburgh are where it's at.

Coastal vs. Midwest vibes.
🙂

I can forgive a coastal accent or some Midwest drawl, sure... but Pittsburgh? Please. 😲 Do you even have ears? 🤔

Rick Lee said:Found out Jawbox and Dismemberment Plan broke up on the exact same day—right when I was finally getting into them. Typical.😢

Timothy Jones85 said:worst islands I've ever stepped foot on

Martha's Vineyard. 😬

My crew used to joke that it was the only island without a cheesy tourism slogan. Maui—the ultimate party. Kauai—your childhood dream. Key West—where you find first love. Martha's Vineyard—period. Just Martha's Vineyard. Always just... period. 😁

Fast forward a few years in Washington, D.C., and I see this tacky poster trying to sell people on a getaway to Martha's Vineyard. It was this plain white sheet with greasy black letters saying "Martha's Vineyard" and some pathetic seagull silhouette in the corner.

Man. Martha's Vineyard. Period.
