Kenneth Hernandez67 said:It is quite an interesting observation that two extremely slender individuals in my immediate office circle—people I know for a fact maintain perfectly balanced diets and abstain from alcohol—have been flagged with alarmingly high cholesterol levels. These weren't just outliers on a home test, either; they were confirmed during specialist consultations.

Conversely, we have several noticeably overweight colleagues who indulge in poor dietary habits and excessive drinking, yet their lab results look as pristine as a newborn's. 😁

Perhaps those who are thin are thin simply because they are acutely aware of their genetic predispositions, leading them to exercise a much higher degree of self-discipline regarding their health.
Dealing with an emotional manipulator in Psychology ·
I’d argue that, as an individual, he simply lacked any decent role models—those people who teach you what’s actually normal versus what isn't. Perhaps his parents didn't quite know how to express genuine affection or care, choosing instead to just fuel this relentless ambition. In the early days of his marriage, he saw people behaving in certain ways, but it was all just superficial mannerisms; once things get real, he seems to lose his footing entirely. As for his wife, she might find some peace visiting a therapist just to hear that she isn't the problem here. And him? He might not be a bad person at heart, but he’s merely acting out the patterns he was taught. He’s essentially exposing his own "knowledge gaps" and defending himself using the only outdated toolkit he has.

That’s a fair point, but honestly, that is precisely why a doctor exists—to help you sort through everything going on inside that head of yours.😉
Kidney issues in Health ·
Back in the States, there was this whole mess where thyroid glands somehow ended up in the ground beef used for burgers, and people started dealing with some pretty weird "side effects." Honestly, don't even joke about messing with heart health—just stick to putting bovine thyroid in the meat. It’s a process 😬rustymoose54

So, the Indians are the ones at fault? It seems to me that the "white settlers" are just blowing smoke regarding how they actually conquered Indian land.

If you listen to any sensible nutritionist, they’ll tell you it’s perfectly fine to indulge in a little bacon or some sharp cheddar every now and then—it’s certainly not forbidden—but it shouldn't constitute the bulk of what we eat. The issue is that humans naturally gravitate toward the path of least resistance; it's biological. We go for whatever tastes better, and let's face it, a greasy burger beats a bowl of steamed kale every single day. That's where the trouble starts—when people consistently break their diet with junk. I even heard one nutritionist suggesting that you don't need to consume whole wheat flour at every single meal, which doesn't quite click for me. I’d love an explanation if anyone actually understands the logic there.
Then there are those New Age Hare Krishna types who swear by a vegetarian diet, yet everything they eat is deep-fried or battered...

Anthony Wood54 said:I want attention, but not from people who just don't get me... I believe if I could just find someone who would truly love me, everything would shift... I’d finish my degree and stop worrying about all this nonsense...
but let's be real...

finding someone to love you...
Do you honestly think that finding a partner would magically overhaul your entire life? It wouldn't. Because you’d still be you. You’d have that person by your side, sure, but you’d still possess the exact same skill set and temperament you have now—and since those are the very things that got you to this point, no one can just "pour" a new version of you into existence. You mention having a boyfriend you claim to love deeply, yet you follow that up by saying you haven't found someone who loves you. Perhaps there is a fundamental disbelief that anyone actually *could* love you, leading you to chase those who don't, while dismissing those who do as being "mistaken." Besides, you'll encounter plenty of people who will get to know you; some will like you, some won't. Even when someone does take an interest, it doesn't arrive accompanied by fireworks and a fanfare. You have to discern for yourself which relationships are healthy and which aren't. There is no official announcement.
As for what you mentioned regarding being bothered by the obsession with perfect looks—that’s understandable. Maybe you fear that if you aren't "perfect," you'll be completely rejected, left to "die" out there. Your rational mind likely knows better, but perhaps the irrational part of you doesn't. Just look at the people around you; you'll see both the "perfect" ones and the "imperfect" ones living the very lives you dream of. They are living what you consider to be normal and positive. You might have had a much harder time if you couldn't perceive human beauty at all, focusing solely on physical perfection—not so bad after all.😉
Pilates ball recommendations? in Health ·
cosmicpanther41 said:A friend of mine gave it a quick glance, and honestly? She thinks there isn't actually a coherent program in there at all. It feels more like she’s just using the platform to run an ad for her own Pilates studio rather than providing actual value.

Does anyone happen to know if there is an actual, decent Pilates routine available on YouTube?

Regarding Michelle Patel78, there is simply no such thing as cheap, high-quality chocolate—unless, of course, you happen to be working in a Hershey's warehouse.😉

I suppose I must be a woman, given that I am apparently satisfied with much less.😬

If there happens to be some brave enthusiast willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of science, I happen to know exactly where to find decent, inexpensive Hershey's.👋

nimbledriver81 said:It’s really not as overpriced as you’re making it out to be. A standard serving is about 8 ounces, which runs roughly $2.00, and you'd likely need 3 or 4 cans a day...

But let’s be clear: IV nutrition isn't the point of this discussion!

I have no idea what those medical preparations actually look like or what the price tag on them entails, but you're right—IV feeding is not the topic at hand.
Thought experiment in Health ·
People who have been sentenced to lifelong total parenteral nutrition don't just get a steady drip of glucose or plain saline. They need the whole works—everything required to stay alive. And if I recall correctly, this kind of specialized medical regimen is obscenely expensive. You can't simply rely on glucose alone; since it's dissolved in water, the body ends up flushing it out, which leads to a massive loss of electrolytes. If you aren't replenishing those levels, things go south very quickly. Honestly, even a candy bar has more nutritional complexity than that, though it lacks certain essential vitamins. I suspect any attempt at using chocolate as a substitute would be shut down immediately due to the inevitable gastritis issues.
Thought experiment in Health ·
Gastritis would likely be what takes him down first—all that sugar would trigger a massive acid surge, and since he’s barely eating anything, there wouldn't be enough food in his stomach to buffer or dilute the acid anyway.

Anthony Wood54 said:That’s the truth... when I pointed out to my boyfriend that his mother was basically the architect behind all of this—believe me, it didn't bother me nearly as much back when I was just a heavy kid and we weren't constantly at each other's throats—he just insisted she never said it, or maybe she did, but she didn't actually mean it like that...
Aha... sure you do...
Honestly, who gives a damn about her
She needs a massive reality check so she'll just shut up and leave us alone...
No, seriously, these mothers-in-law are definitely not playing by the same rules as the rest of us...

They're all part of some weird, non-normal club...

*waves goodbye* 👋

You mentioned somewhere that you tend to take the dominant role in your relationships—well, maybe give that a second thought. Do you really need that specific kind of dominance? Do you really want to spend your entire life dealing with someone who just ignores every single issue, leaving you to struggle through them all by yourself? Regardless of how much it drains you physically, mentally, or financially...

She's just jealous of me and her other daughter-in-law, that's all....
She was the catalyst for my bulimia...
I wanted to prove to her and her boyfriend that I could be thin... and that's why I did what I did...
Today she commented on how much weight I've lost; yesterday it was my sister-in-law, today it's a friend... they were horrified by how little curves I have..
And yet, it's still not enough for me...
I can go even further....
and I hate myself because of it....
I can't stop...
I haven't vomited in days... but then again, I barely eat anything besides soup and a few grains....
Oh, goodness, people... this is such a mess...
kisses to everyone, love you all...
THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT...👋

Anthony Wood54, sometimes the people in our inner circle simply aren't capable of living up to the image we hold of them in our heads. To children, parents are everything; kids need to perceive adults as more competent, smarter, and more balanced... purely for that sense of childhood security. Unfortunately, reality doesn't always work that way. Sometimes, someone close to you—someone who should be your rock and role model—just talks nonsense and acts completely unreliable, leaving you feeling like you've had to "carry" them since you were little. Occasionally, your family or those closest to you just aren't people whose opinions you can actually trust. It isn't your fault that they are this way. I know it's exhausting, but please, stop relying on the perspective of someone who isn't even capable of forming a healthy opinion.

Look, don't go treating everything like some personal tragedy or a targeted attack; not everyone is out to get you.
And yet, the comment is just sharp enough to sting—but hey, that's her issue. What are you supposed to do with your own 🙂
