1. Fasting isn't the same thing as a detox.
2. Most fasts are actually pretty hard on you—depends on how extreme they get.
3. A real detox takes about three months, and it’s not even that punishing.

The trick is cutting out coffee and all that processed junk. You have to start the morning with fruit on an empty stomach, then move on to regular meals later. The rule? Eat tons of vegetables—fresh or steamed—just drizzled with a little olive oil. And cut the salt to a bare minimum.
You can still have meat and fish, but keep it simple. Boiled or lightly seared. No grilling, no burgers, nothing heavy.

Get rid of all the bakery stuff: donuts, croissants, bread, pastries—all of it. Gone.

As for drinks: stick to fresh-squeezed juices (not that store-bought carton crap), water, and tea.

Nettle tea is great for flushing out your kidneys and liver. Green tea and lemon balm are also solid choices.
One tip with tea: don't let the leaves or bags sit in the water too long. Steep them for a few minutes, then pull them out immediately.

There. That’s the gist of it.
Crook said:Do American doctors even run these kinds of tests? Or maybe they don't even know this parasite exists.
🙄
The thing is, the symptoms—swollen lymph nodes, weakened immune system—they just seem to come and go.
Bottom line: nothing to worry about.
😳

Of course they know.😁 It’s standard stuff taught in med school; everyone sits through Microbiology. I'm not entirely sure how common these specific tests are at local clinics, but I'm pretty certain you can find them at private practices.
How clean are your local dentist's offices? in Dentistry & Oral Hygiene ·
They should have been way more thorough with the cleaning, especially the drills and equipment like that. And that suction tip used in patients' mouths? Needs to be replaced with a fresh one every single time. I don't care much about the control panel; what matters is that everything going into a patient's mouth is fully disinfected. From what I've seen, some dentists even swap out the drill bits themselves.

Why were you squeezing those dots? 🙄 ? For what reason? Did they just vanish under pressure?
Emergency: My friend is pregnant in Health ·
I’ve been with my boyfriend for three and a half years now, and honestly, the idea of cheating or bringing anyone else into my life doesn't even cross my mind.
Education matters. The sooner—and the better—we teach kids about sexual responsibility, the fewer unplanned pregnancies and miscarriages we'll see.
I just don't know. Let's say it actually happens to you (I'm reading posts right now from girls saying their friends got pregnant while using 🙄 pills), but you aren't in a position to have a kid. You're working, you have no childcare, and you can't afford the monthly cost of diapers and supplies which, let's be real, is astronomical here in the States $1000—think about what an average retail worker makes. If you were a single mother? I think you'd start considering every option 😉. Look, I know I wouldn't ever have an abortion; I couldn't live with myself if I did. But if I were stuck in a dead-end situation with no long-term way out, I might do anything.

Am I living in a fantasy land? 🙄 Not even close. I have no idea what part of my argument sounded "theoretical" to you. Look, exceptions exist. If a guy walks out on you, obviously you aren't getting pregnant—I never said otherwise. Maybe you just missed my point, but people aren't monoliths. Not everyone is reckless enough to end up pregnant by accident. Obviously, a 16-year-old isn't going to be as responsible as someone who's 25, like
. I support abortion if there’s a valid reason. Honestly, who am I to stick my nose into someone else's business and their life choices? I couldn't care less what people do. To me, abortion isn't murder, and I'm never going to view it that way, nor will I judge anyone for it. It’s better for a woman to have an abortion if she can't provide for a child than to bring a kid into this world only for them to have nothing. I'd rather they didn't end up as just another statistic in the cycle of poverty and lack of education, or god forbid, stuck in the foster care system.

I stick to Gareth Bale deodorant sticks and Malizia; most sticks and deodorants out there are loaded with aluminum, but these work just fine and smell great. I’m careful about that stuff because there's a history of breast cancer in my family, and I'm not looking to mess around; our doctors gave us that advice, so I listen to them.
Anyway, here's a link for you. Do some actual reading. 😉
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dpd/parasi...oplasmosis.htm
You inhale dust containing bacteria in its oocyst stage. You can catch it straight from a cat if you touch their feces and then accidentally put your hands in your mouth; that doesn't mean you're out there digging through their crap 😉—it could be as simple as cleaning a litter box after they've rolled in someone else's infected mess, getting it on their fur, and then picking it up while you pet them. There are other ways too, like eating raw meat, etc...
granitebadger25 said:That was the old way of thinking, but it's wrong.
Only the yolk holds high cholesterol... but, interestingly, the whites actually contain a cholesterol absorption inhibitor.

So, if you want to dodge cholesterol, just eat the whole egg. 😉
As for Salmonella, heat treatment solves that problem easily enough.

Regarding "healthy" versus "unhealthy" diets—honestly, the fastest way to kill hunger is whatever gets calories into you (at least that's how it looks in Africa).

Life is too short to waste on these kinds of worries. There are much bigger problems out there.
We aren't immortal. Deal with it.

Whoa, I had no idea about the egg white thing. A cholesterol absorption inhibitor? Got a link or anything? That's a fascinating bit of info. 😁 Now I can finally enjoy a whole egg without guilt 😉 (I’ve always tried to skip the yolk).
Sure, you can kill Salmonella with heat, but there's always a risk—like in various dessert creams and stuff. Salmonella is one of the most common intestinal issues in America and globally. 😉 Even though humanity has mastered heat treatment. 😁 Heh.
Also, a word to the author: being careful is fine, but obsessing helps no one. You don't need a psychiatrist; you just need some common sense and to stop overthinking it. Eat what you want when you want, just try to cut out the worst stuff or minimize it. Just eat less junk.😉
analogmarlin41 said:Can I ask one thing? What’s the deal with eggs and hot dogs? 🤔

From what I gather, eggs are loaded with cholesterol, plus you've got the risk of bacteria like Salmonella on the shells. Hot dogs? They're just processed scraps—beaks, feet, whatever leftovers you get from a chicken. Basically junk food. But look, I'll respect the OP's wishes and won't go down that rabbit hole.

OP, first off, I am sorry for your loss. 😢 Second, if you've lost people you loved to cancer, this reaction is completely normal. It makes sense that you'd spiral into this kind of "paranoia" and fear. It's a survival instinct kicking in.
Look, forgive me if I'm wrong here, but it seems like your biggest fear right now is death itself. Nothing stops death. You can only delay it. Try living healthy, but that isn't just about what's on your plate. You need exercise, maybe some yoga for mental balance, moving out of the city, stuff like that. Honestly, living healthy is hard enough as it is; don't obsess over every single bite you take. It's a losing battle.
To answer your question: yes, there are others here feeling the same way. Luckily, I stopped freaking out about it because the constant thought that I was swallowing poison, bacteria, or parasites was driving me insane.
Just let go. Take care of yourself, but don't overdo it. Stressing out and being paranoid will wreck your mental health, and eventually, your physical health too.

I agree with you on that point...
Look, condoms break. A woman might forget her pill—maybe she’s rushing out the door, life happens, and suddenly she realizes she had sex earlier that day without protection. Even pre-cum can carry sperm. It’s incredibly rare, but theoretically possible, especially if both partners have high fertility rates (meaning the guy has fast swimmers 😉). There are endless scenarios where contraception fails. If you’re responsible and smart, it won't happen. If someone actually taught you how to manage your sex life, it wouldn't happen. You’re busy blaming all those irresponsible kids and their incompetent parents who failed to educate them about safe sex; fine, but everyone has their own reasons for an abortion. It’s one thing, but using abortion as a primary method of birth control is another matter entirely.
Even if someone decides to go through with a pregnancy during that three-month legal window, anything can change. She might change her mind because her partner walks out and refuses to help, she loses her job, or her finances fall apart...
It isn't just black and white. 😉 There are valid justifications for an abortion, but there aren't justifications for being reckless. That said, I highly doubt every girl who seeks an abortion is "irresponsible." Like I said, birth control fails. And the pull-out method? Not exactly recommended as a regular strategy, since guys can reach the point of no return before they even realize it's happening.
Emergency: My friend is pregnant in Health ·
Nancy Lee4... everything you just said goes right out the window when you wrap it all up with "live and let live." 🙂 If you truly believe in that philosophy, you’d apply it to the people choosing abortion, too. Personally? I don't view it as murder, but calling it an ugly, irresponsible act? Absolutely. I get why some women feel forced into it, and I'm not here to judge them.
We're talking about an 18-year-old girl here. She's pregnant, and she has her entire life ahead of her. First things first: she needs professional counseling. Someone to walk her through the consequences, the actual procedure, and lay out all her options clearly.
And look, balancing college and being a parent is doable. I've had several friends pull it off without breaking a sweat. Of course, having parental support makes a massive difference—though parents usually step up more naturally if the kid actually has a plan or someone to help shoulder the load.
What I can't stand is irresponsibility. I agree with Nancy Lee that with how common birth control and modern contraceptives are today, getting pregnant shouldn't be this easy, but I refuse to accept the excuse that it "just happens." It absolutely can happen, and it's often avoidable.

Yeah. I tried clicking change avatar, but then I hit that "if you don't want to wait, blah blah" option. It just kicked me right back to the home page, so I figured it wasn't working. 🙂

Look, that’s been common knowledge for ages 🙂 toxoplasmosis 🙂 so just stay away from cats 🙂
I’ve never dealt with bullying at school, work, or college because I simply don't tolerate it. Bullies are everywhere—on the street, in your own home, all over the place.
Back in high school, there was this girl who got targeted by everyone until she finally snapped during her senior year. Honestly? I felt for her, and I felt for the losers who got off on tormenting her. The administration barely lifted a finger, even though they knew exactly what was happening to her.
PMS madness: any tips for coping? in Health ·
[User Name] says:
I eat whatever is right in front of me. No filter. No plan. Just hunger.
Yesterday was an absolute marathon. I hit a prosciutto pizza first. Then moved straight onto sausage. By the time I was done, I realized I’d run out of chocolate. Just my luck.
Staying disciplined today. Just sticking to coffee, tea, and water. No more.

I'm wired. Completely hyper. I can't get a single thing done—my focus is all over the place.

What do you guys do when it hits you?

Go see your OB-GYN and get on birth control. It completely killed my PMS. Seriously, I'm so grateful—no more mental breakdowns every month. 🙏
