It feels like every time a big-name player signs a massive deal, there's some shady investigation waiting around the corner. At this point, I'm starting to wonder if the rulebook is just a suggestion for the teams with the deepest pockets. Does anyone actually believe the league's oversight is effective?

Elementary school teachers
in Students & Teens ·
Back in my day, our parents didn't just hand over cash whenever the school organized a field trip or some event; besides, we didn't go nearly as often as kids do today. If there was an extra fee for a meal, the parents would vote on whether the trip was even worth it first. Then, the teacher would collect the funds collectively. If a student couldn't afford it—we had about five kids in our fifth-grade class who were truly struggling—the other parents would chip in to cover them, working closely with the teacher because no one wanted anyone left behind. I vividly remember our teacher paying out of her own meager salary for several students more than once. For our eighth-grade graduation, both she and the chaperone instructor waived their fees for travel and hotels, and we even secured two free spots through an agency. We all split the cost for the fifth student, and while parents provided pocket money, our substitute teacher would step in to buy a sandwich or a soda if someone ran short; the rest of us simply covered the bill. This was the standard pattern with my beloved teacher from grades one through four, my substitute from fourth through eighth, and my favorite homeroom teacher in high school. Is it really impossible that my teachers were the only ones with integrity—people who actually cared for children and taught us mutual respect regardless of a family's bank account? Surely not...
We never looked down on a child just because their trip, lunch, theater ticket, or pool pass was paid for by others. All those kids grew up to be successful, independent adults with families of their own, and none of them are living on the edge anymore. More importantly, they are all still my lifelong friends from elementary school. As for the high school crowd, I've lost touch. Being part of the war generation, we had refugee kids in our class from Pine Village who eventually moved back to Memphis; I haven't heard from them since. Where is all this heading?
The teacher made a mistake by not sitting you down privately to discuss this. Go talk to her directly and settle it face-to-face. If it were my substitutes, they would have coordinated that trip to MD beforehand so everyone ate the same thing; they would have snagged a few free Happy Meals, and if necessary, they would have paid out of their own pockets without making a scene...

Dealing with the teenage years is a nightmare

if you want, I can save a spot for you😉
Listen, after everything that's gone wrong lately—the disasters in New Zealand, that tsunami, the earthquakes, and the looming nuclear threat in Japan (if those reactors blow, does the fallout drift toward Antarctica?)... I honestly recommend South America. From the bottom of my heart.😉
Save me a seat...
😬

Read it. I’m already dreading it. She is so incredibly stubborn and refuses to listen to a word anyone says—especially now that she's trying to pull a fast one on us with those 4... once she hits puberty, I'm fleeing straight to South America. ☕

Honestly, Hašpl is absolutely brilliant. I sat for my exam with him 😍
Go have a conversation with him; I can't fathom him turning you down, he’s truly a decent man 🙂
Best of luck!

Let’s not go there.
My experience tells a different story.
Taylor Swift, who started high school at the same time as me but graduated a year later—all while racking up enough disciplinary warnings to get kicked out—landed a job almost immediately after graduation, yet here I am, still sitting at home.
Oh, please!!!! 😁
You’re gorgeous, but she was just desperate for work.😉

Well, our little busy bee finally checked in, but still no news.

What about the Coalition and Bee? Have they given birth yet?
Well, the Coalition went in for an amniocentesis yesterday, so perhaps she actually delivered.🤔
And hasn't Bee already pushed back her appointment?
They'll resurface once they're home and recovered from the newborn chaos.😍

Ksenia said:Well, I went to see my OB-GYN. She mentioned I was a bit early for a full checkup, but she went ahead with a vaginal ultrasound and, sure enough, I am pregnant. 🙂
I have to head back in two or three weeks to get my official prenatal records started.
I told my parents, and honestly, they took it incredibly well. They couldn't stop smiling; they even said they are old enough to finally be grandparents and that they support whatever the two of us decide. Then, naturally, they toasted the news with a glass of bourbon. 😁 😬
Granted, my mother was acting a bit solemn—probably sad—for the rest of the day. I suppose it’s just hitting her that I won't be living under their roof for much longer.
Our friends are thrilled; my girlfriends are already demanding every single detail about the pregnancy. The only downside is that I accidentally overshadowed one of my best friends' big announcement—she’s getting married on June 8th, which is right around when I'll be due.
All in all, I feel wonderful and hope this feeling lasts.
Oh, I am just so happy for you all!!! 😍 🙂 😘
It makes sense that Mom is feeling sentimental; she's realizing her little girl is all grown up. That's just how parents are. But just wait until that grandbaby arrives—it’ll make her feel twenty years younger. 😁
Ugh, I’m actually tearing up. 😍
A little boy or a little girl? Just like MM. 😍
Go on then, set up your pregnancy tracker and join the Women's March group! 😘

It sounds like you might be dealing with a false pregnancy. 🧐
Is everyone here losing their minds? I’m actually weeping.🤣 🤣 🤣

bibobu said:Good grief, you certainly picked the right doctor 😬 , what does the subconscious actually do to a woman? 🤣
By the way, my dog had similar symptoms when she went through a false pregnancy. The only difference was she didn't have bleeding gums, and I couldn't tell if she felt something "rolling" around her stomach.
But she was incredibly gassy, eating like crazy, and constantly exhausted...
It’s likely you might even experience lactation eventually; that's what happened with her. 😎
Just go see a decent gynecologist already. 😁
Oh, and we ended up getting our dog spayed afterward, and she's much better now... 👍
I'd rather pull my hair out! 😵 😂 🤣 🤣 🤣

Good grief. None of those issues will even cause her any trouble, let alone qualify for a single day of medical leave. 🤣

Karen, I am relieved to see the trolls didn't descend upon your thread—as if we needed more chaos 😉. It is good to know everything is fine 🙂

I certainly won't go through a divorce just for the sake of garlic 🤣
(Honest to God, I’m looking for an exit strategy because my husband refuses to let me eat any garlic 😁 🤣 )
As for that other proposal... hmmm... it does sound rather tempting 😁

I am glad to hear everything is going well for you.
As for garlic...🙂 I just use the granulated stuff on almost every meal. Plus, it's great for keeping colds at bay.😬
Why bother with a gynecologist or an ultrasound when the Serpent is here with her Mayo encyclopedia?🤣 🤣
Once again,😘
I absolutely love it. My husband can't stand the smell. Honestly, I haven't eaten enough garlic to satisfy me since my wedding day.😢

Welcome to the family, Karen! 😘
June 12th, right? A perfect late spring baby... You'll have endless walks ahead of you. If you actually tried to schedule them, they wouldn't show up on time. We timed ours perfectly, but then again, babies just arrive whenever they feel like it, don't they? 😉
I suppose we'll be decorating the tree for Christmas 😬 😍

Everything will work out... you'll see. 🙂 😘
You aren't even in such a dire situation. You're nearly done with your degree; surely you can get everything sorted before the baby arrives? Why assume he'll lose his job immediately? Even if he does, temporary setbacks can be managed by taking any available work. If your friend offered you a position, why not sit down and talk? Perhaps there's a way to arrange remote work once you have the baby. Who's to say he won't be perfectly fine with the pregnancy? 😉
And your parents will help; don't fret about that. They support us working professionals too. Their support carries more weight than you realize... 😉
The most vital thing is that you and your boyfriend act as a team. 🙂
I agree with the others—it would be best to tell your parents together, especially if they hold conservative values. Seeing that he is standing by you and wants this child will mean a great deal to them.
Besides, you aren't exactly children yourselves. 😉 Honestly, if you only knew how many of my friends' mothers were practically begging for grandchildren when they were your age—not to mention my own father 😁....
Calm down, just a little, and focus on organizing your schedule to finish that exam and your thesis. Everything will be fine. 😉
🙂 😘
