Ada Lovelace - Contract Termination in Health ·
fridge said:don't sweat it too much. around month five, you'll get a notice about switching over to a different insurance provider. that new company is required to cover the exact same services you've had up until now, and they have to keep it going until your current policy actually expires.
since those other companies (there are a few big insurance houses involved) also have to take on all the employees from Ada Lovelace.
it’ll all work itself out for everyone involved (i hope so)

so, did it actually work out?

Yeah, okay. I honestly thought she meant that feeling downstairs like you mentioned earlier.

Nathan Turner98 said:Well, even after that, things aren't exactly feeling great down there, you know?

Nah, I don't actually know... I've never had a colposcopy before. I can only really guess, so I was wondering what it felt like for you afterward, especially if you're saying nothing happened during the actual thing. It just confuses me a little bit.

Nathan Turner98 said:I was at my biopsy yesterday, too. It didn't even hurt, but the aftercare/feeling I had later on was just driving me insane.

What kind of feeling?

Amanda Stewart3 said:Colpitis is basically just inflammation of the vagina; it doesn't always have to be linked to Candida.

Look, I'm not even thinking about sex right now, but looking ahead at life after treatment...
Just thinking through the logic here; if I clear this infection up but he doesn't, isn't it just a matter of time before it hits me again? Or am I totally missing something???

Honestly, I don't even know what to tell you, because I was spiraling over the exact same thing. But I've read in a few different places that the partner doesn't necessarily need treatment, and you probably won't catch it from him again... though who knows, right? If it keeps coming back even after you've done your part, then yeah, demand he gets checked out too. That’s what I’d do. If it stays away, then great. 👍
Check this out:
Medications: Fungal infections are treated with antifungals—basically meds designed to kill fungus. For female genital yeast infections, doctors usually go with imidazole derivatives like clotrimazole (Canesten, Plimycol) or polyene antibiotics such as nystatin (Nystatin, Moronal), amphotericin (Ampho-Moronal), and natamycin (Pimafucin) used as vaginal tablets, creams, or ointments. Treatment can be quick, maybe 1 to 7 days. For those recurring infections that just won't quit, oral antifungals like fluconazole (Diflucan) or itraconazole (Orungal) in pill or capsule form are usually necessary. While you're dealing with symptoms and finishing treatment, it’s recommended to hold off on sex, even though the infection is actually only transmitted in about 10-15% of cases.

Honestly, I don't even know what to tell you. It messed with my head too. But I've read in several places that there's no need to treat the partner, and you probably won't catch it from him again... though who knows. If it pops up again after all this, then definitely look into something for him—that's what I'd do. If it stays away, then awesome.👍

So I asked if my boyfriend needs to take anything too, and she’s telling me not to worry about it for now...
Like, seriously? Am I supposed to catch this thing all over again just so he can start treatment???

Yeah, you've got vaginal inflammation caused by Candida (candida vaginitis/colpitis). Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about sex while I was dealing with that itching. I didn't even go near it until everything cleared up.

How did you guys handle that combo?

I had E. coli in my urine once... though I'm not sure if you're talking about a standard urinalysis or a swab test?

Lisa Richardson8 said:But I honestly don't know. All I know is I used to get my breast ultrasound referrals directly from my OB-GYN, but when I went in last time—like, two months ago—she told me she can't do it anymore and I have to go through my primary care doctor instead. 😲

As for manual exams... I haven't a clue.

That’s interesting. You know, my doctor used to tell me a specialist had to sign off on it, too. She wouldn't even write the referral herself, just sent me off to see the specialist, which basically meant I had to hunt down a referral from my GP anyway...😕

Lisa Richardson8 said:Latest update: apparently, for breast issues, you’re supposed to see a general practitioner now.😲 😕

Wait, so a GP isn't allowed to actually examine breasts now?!
I mean, unless you thought the GP was just there to hand out referrals to oncologists like they always have been... I really don't get the point of this change.

exam + ultrasound = $83.
I don't know, if everything seems fine, then it's fine, right?
He gave me birth control right then and there, too.
Well, that's great if he comes highly recommended.

Thanks for the heads up. By any chance, do you know if he does breast exams too?

Kate Rodriguez said:Everything was super urgent so I just went looking for a private specialist since I'm definitely not from the local area. I didn't really have any recommendations, so I just ended up seeing Dr. Matkovich. Honestly, I can't complain at all—I’d actually stick with him. Most of the doctors I’ve seen before just give these useless, half-baked comments, you know? He explained everything clearly and was really nice about it. Seems solid. My dad gets home in about ten days, so that's pretty much it... yeah, seems alright..

Oh, yeah, I’ve heard good things about him too. Didn't realize you were looking into private practice, though. And as for the public clinics? Haven't heard a single word about anyone decent there.

So, how much did the consultation with Matkovich run you? Did you go in for anything else besides the Pap smear?

Kate Rodriguez10 said:I honestly don't have the energy to scroll through all this... I know there’s probably been tons of talk about it already, but does anyone actually remember if we mentioned any good gynecologists over in St. Louis??

Ugh, I’ve already asked around, but literally nothing... so if you happen to know someone decent, please let me know. So far, every single one I've dealt with has been pretty mediocre. How about you?

Same here, just got mine this morning. I was already low-key panicking yesterday thinking it was late. 😛

Walter Myers said:Cut the nonsense, seriously. If you don't know exactly where to put them, and if you aren't packing a decent piece of hardware, you’re just wasting everyone's time. You won't be getting anywhere, let alone making anything happen.

Exactly. If you actually know what you're doing and can pinpoint the right spot, that’s pretty much what I just said. But look, if you're young and still figuring out the whole anal thing, you might find it a little stingy at first. It happens.🙄

Michael Jones23 said:You really have to get the placement right. Like, seriously. If you don't, he’s definitely going to know if things are just... too much for the entrance. I remember struggling so hard at first, just trying to figure out how to position everything properly. It took me a minute to finally realize what the right depth actually felt like. 😬

I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that. You were saying?
Walter Myers said:There’s just nothing left to write about, really. No inspiration hitting, no urge to vent, not even a desire to go out and stir up some trouble. Just... blank. Nothing to say, nothing to do. Honestly? It's pretty much nothing.

That’s just not true. Honestly, my gut completely goes sideways whenever I’m on my period. And when you throw that tampon into the mix? Man, you wouldn't believe it. I won't get into all the messy details here, but seriously... hasn't someone else already mentioned getting diarrhea during their cycle?

Chris Chase92 said:Voltarene suppositories, 50 mg, a heating pad for the cramps, and a big mug of hot tea
I know everyone gets grossed out when you mention suppositories—but seriously, they actually work!
The worst part is just getting it in and hanging on for those first few seconds (you usually get that sudden urge to go right away), but then the relief hits almost instantly 🙂
Give it a shot! I don't deal with that period anxiety anymore because I finally found the perfect fix 🙏

Yeah, those suppositories really do help, but you have to get the placement right. If you shove them in too deep, they can sting like crazy. Honestly, I struggled so much at first trying to figure out how far to go before I finally caught on to the right depth 😬

steelstag4 said:I just lie down and let myself sink into it—maybe wrap a warm heating pad around my stomach or something—then curl up into a little fetal ball. Usually, it passes in about half an hour.

I’m actually the exact opposite. Either I’m pacing around the room or doing laps like a crazy person, though that was a long time ago... mostly, what works for me is laying with my head buried in a pillow and my hips elevated. Yeah, I know, looks ridiculous, but honestly? It’s the only thing that takes the edge off.

Or maybe try to just... relax the muscles? Like, bear down on your stomach, sort of like you're pushing through it... that might help too.

Frank Green2 said:I just keep talking while I’m undressing, while I’m waiting for him to get to the table, while he’s doing the exam... thank God the guy is decent enough that as soon as he’s done checking me over, he heads straight back to his desk behind the screen, leaving me there still rambling on (if I actually have anything to say). Man, seriously, what is it with people and their silence?

So yeah, it's the same thing every time things get a little different... with mine, it’s basically assumed you just show up in some kind of little gown...

Frank Green2 said:It’s honestly hilarious to me that you’re suddenly wearing a skirt just because you're seeing a gynecologist—like, you're worried about them catching a glimpse of half your butt, but they're going to see your most intimate parts anyway.
I always show up in pants. My sister doesn't even see me since she's usually in another room, and even if she walks into the "bedroom," there's a privacy screen hiding both the bed and the changing corner.
Of course, if anyone is more modest than I am, go right ahead... whatever works for you.
I don't really know how to answer that bit about the virginity exam, though; someone else would probably handle that...

I don't find it funny at all. Actually, it's a MUST. At every OBGYN I've ever been to, wearing a skirt was totally standard—it'd almost be weird if you didn't. I mean, you aren't just sprinting straight onto the exam table the second you walk in, right? You talk to the doctor first, chat about why you're there, ask questions... I'm not exactly looking to have a conversation with a woman while I'm standing there totally exposed. I mean, think about it... when she's sitting there talking to you, her eyes are basically level with my... well, you know what I mean... 😲you know who she's actually talking to... 😬...

Lisa Richardson8 said:I’m telling you, a decent gynecologist just doesn't exist...

So what, you're saying the only good one is in NYC? That's pretty depressing...🙄
See, I can't get behind that. I'm sure there are great doctors in other cities too, maybe they just haven't stepped up to the plate yet, or people aren't looking hard enough.
