Honestly, it drives me absolutely insane when these older women constantly harp on about how huge my belly looks for being only 23 weeks along. I mean, sure, it sticks out more when I see some girls posting photos of their bumps online, but good grief, I was actually starting to panic thinking maybe I was having twins or had just let myself go completely... I even ended up breaking down and crying to my husband once because I genuinely feared something was wrong with me... even though I know I haven't gained more than the recommended 13 pounds, and I’m certainly not overweight, nor am I some supermodel. I guess since I'm only 5'3" and have pretty narrow hips, the bump started showing way earlier than it might for someone taller or with more curves... but seriously, for God's sake, aren't pregnant women actually supposed to have a bump? If it were men making these comments, I could probably brush it off, but it's always these women who have been through it themselves and know exactly what an average pregnancy looks like, yet they still act so shocked???? It’s a good thing they don't ask me how I even managed to get pregnant, because if they did, I swear I would have absolutely lost it!
Hahaha, well, I guess the guy just wanted to test the limits of your nose!!!!
And speaking of things smelling like dirty socks—man, you just reminded me of something. For the last few days, there’s been this constant, nagging scent of old gym socks wafting around my closet, and even my husband kept asking me what on earth was stinking up the house. I went absolutely ballistic trying to find the source, scrubbing every single inch of the place that was already spotless, but nothing worked! It was totally useless. We finally figured out that the new laundry detergent I picked up was actually causing the issue; apparently, it reacts with certain fabrics and leaves this weird, funky smell behind. We were both literally sniffing our clothes in disbelief because how is that even possible? I tried using the new stuff on a small load first just to test it out, but honestly, I think I’m just going back to my old reliable brand from Target...
Edward Rodriguez4 said:Ugh, tell me about it, cleaning absolutely kills me... and I'm only 30...🙄 Everything that used to take me an hour now takes me at least three times as long... I have to take a break every ten minutes because I get so winded and congested it's actually insane! I just finished a mountain of dishes from yesterday and I HAVE to sit down before I even attempt ironing... scrubbing the bathroom... mopping the floors... 🤣 And the sleeping... the worst part is when I roll onto my back in the middle of the night and wake up panicking, thinking the baby has definitely turned blue because the position wasn't right... and what if I accidentally roll onto my stomach or something... I'm basically having hallucinations all night long. And when I need to go pee, I barely even try to get up because the thought of dragging myself down those stairs is just too much... 😠
Ugh, and then there was this one night... 🤣 oh god... my husband went out with his buddies for a bit, and he comes home smelling like a brewery (and honestly, he rarely drinks, but when he does...) and he's singing, pinching me, rubbing my belly🙄 ... I told him, "Fine, just go to sleep already, for crying out loud," but as soon as he hit the mattress, he started puking... 😱 So I ended up playing nurse to him for half the night... what a total pig! 😬
Oh my god, you have me dying!!! I am constantly freaking out that if I lie on my side with my belly angled a certain way, I've definitely crushed the baby, so the poor thing has no room left—so naturally, I just keep tossing and turning like a piece of meat on a grill... My husband was the same way recently; first he was celebrating like crazy when he found out about the baby, then once he realized it was a boy, it was just non-stop partying when the little guy was finally born!!!! Seriously, how much more celebrating can one person possibly do? 🤷 And that part about the alcohol smell? Like he swallowed half a crate of Coca-Cola? Good grief! 🤮 I don't know about the rest of you ladies, but for me, the smell is like walking into a bakery; the other day I could taste something sweet on a friend's breath, and she looked at me like I'd lost my mind when I told her I could taste two cookies... honestly, I could probably go looking for truffles in California with how much I can sense things lately. 😍

And we’re talking about the hottest guy on the entire train, too. 😍 I was honestly so conflicted; first off, because nobody ever asks me that, and second, because he was such a total smoke show. 😍 I only had two stops left, so I played it cool and politely declined. In my head, I was just like: "Keep the seat, honey, I much prefer the view from over here" (cue the hormones, cough, cough...). Then I spent the rest of the ride basically staring at him like a complete idiot until he eventually got off at the next stop. He probably thought I was a total creep. 🤣
Kisses, cuties!
The poor guy probably thought you were going to jump him since you were practically melting into him with those eyes.😉 Seriously though, kudos to that kid; maybe the older generation could actually learn a thing or two from us young people about how to handle things!
rustybison19 said:Stuck on the subway right now. I’m only 10 weeks along, so you can barely see anything under my coat, but I’ve always had a bit of a gut—I’m thin everywhere else, so now the baby bump and my natural curves have just merged into one big "five-month pregnant" situation, for sure. 😁 First trimester, man. I don't even want to get into how nauseous and exhausted I am, or how everything smells like garbage to me lately. And yet, not a single soul offered me a seat, not even an inch. It's like nobody even thought for a second that I might actually be pregnant. It honestly just bugs me. It gets under my skin. Ever since I started taking the subway back in high school, I’ve been the type to jump up for every grandma, old guy, or mom struggling with kids I see. I do it for everyone. But now that I actually need it? Nothing. Not a single move from anyone... what a bunch of jerks. It really set me off yesterday.
Then the thought hits me—maybe they just think I'm gaining weight, and they're too polite to offer a seat to a "pregnant lady" so I won't feel insulted. 🤷 🤣
So yeah...☕
As for advice... From the moment I wake up, it's just a cycle: first morning sickness, then the elevator, then work, and finally I call my friend, only for her first response to be: "Hey, maybe don't paint your nails right now, you shouldn't..." It was basically just a "talk to you later" kind of vibe for the next seven months... boo-hoo, life's great.
It’s like I’m talking to myself here...👍 Look, it’s not like I’m entitled to a seat, but with this heat, I’ve already felt lightheaded a few times, and sometimes I get these sudden bouts of hypoglycemia where everything just goes blurry... it's scary. I actually sat down with my OB-GYN to talk about potential complications—like what to expect and when, especially since my job requires being out in the field and I have a bit of medical history—and he basically told me that given the way people operate around here, all he needs is to know if a pregnant woman lives in a suburb but works in downtown Manhattan, because he knows exactly how much women struggle to get to work when nobody gives them a damn hand.👎
Look, you could always head down to a CVS or Walgreens and pick up some redness-relief cream, but honestly, those stuff usually just target broken capillaries. They tend to have this weird, pale greenish tint meant to mask the redness visually, but since you mentioned yourself that your issue isn't actually about capillaries, I'm not sure how much good they'll do you. You can certainly give them a shot if you want... I know there's a Roseliane line from Uruguay out there... but it's not going to be a magic fix for what you're dealing with.
I honestly think this whole thing is rooted in some deep psychological stuff, even if you don't feel any actual embarrassment or shame in the moment—like you said, it feels like a completely normal situation to you—but maybe it’s just how your body reacts psychosomatically? As far as I can tell, there isn't much you can do to consciously control it, since it seems more like one of those subconscious reactions that just happens without your permission...
amberseal13 said:Why is it that if I get anything less than ten hours of sleep, I end up crashing hard in the afternoon?
Maybe that’s just how your metabolism works and you actually require ten full hours of shut-eye? Honestly, I’m the exact same way—a total sleeper. Even when I try to force myself to wake up earlier, mostly because I feel like I'm wasting the day, especially now that the weather is finally getting nice, I just end up being so cranky that it’s probably better if nobody stays near me... I’ve tried those early mornings where I eat breakfast and have my coffee, but it doesn't matter, my head just starts dropping and I inevitably have to crawl back into bed for another hour or two... Personally, I figure my whole circadian rhythm is just completely shot because of working these rotating shifts, so I can't even tell when it's day or night anymore... As for you, unless there's some thyroid issue or another underlying medical thing going on, it sounds like your body just operates that way... I truly don't know how people manage on only seven or eight hours🙏 or even less, acting all chirpy like little birds, except they aren't exactly chirping...
So, let me get this straight—you’re asking if having acne during puberty somehow guarantees you won't deal with it later in life, or if it works the other way around? That is a complete misconception.
You should probably head over to the beauty forums; there’s an endless amount of discussion on this topic over there, so I’m sure you’ll dig up something useful. Honestly, I’m pretty certain there are entire dedicated threads just focused on enlarged pores...👍 Good luck.
I honestly think a cobbler could work some magic on those boots for you, maybe even turn them into something more like a Chelsea boot style, but the real question is how much of that heel is going to be sticking out once they're done? Or, if you're feeling lucky, maybe they could just stretch them out without having to hack the back off—I know they have those specialized stretching machines at the shops, though I guess it all really depends on what kind of material the shoes are actually made of...
Look, I don’t really have any advice to give you, but I just wanted to say that I am seriously JEALOUS!!! I mean, I wouldn’t say I’m overweight, but if I could drop even just 6 or 7 pounds, it would feel like finally taking off a heavy weighted vest I've been carrying around forever! Just enjoy yourself.🙏 And honestly, even though people keep giving you tips, please don't go stuffing yourself with junk food; try to be intentional about what you eat because it's your body, and you should love it for what it is, as long as you're staying healthy.👍
Edward Taylor78 said:I mentioned recently that I was thinking about starting a vitamin regimen. Today, a friend told me she’s been taking Centrum Multi for a while now—supposedly it covers all the bases with vitamins and minerals—and she swears it’s fantastic because she can actually feel a difference in her energy levels.
Now, I’m wondering how much weight I should really give that. These supplements are incredibly cheap (around $10) and you can just grab them off the shelf at any CVS.
Has anyone here actually tried them? Any real experiences to share?
Look, I pick up Hay from time to time because they aren't expensive, and since you only need one a day, there isn't really any complicated routine to deal with. Honestly, for the first time in my life, I haven't dealt with anything serious this entire winter—and this is coming from someone who usually can't survive a winter without catching a massive case of strep throat! It can't hurt you. I even read somewhere that Encian won a gold award for that specific multi!🙏 Just because something is pricey doesn't mean it's actually better, right?😍👍
Jesse Morgan3 said:That’s not even what I was getting at, though. I was talking more about stuff that applies to our everyday lives here. Is it actually possible to catch an STD through saliva?
Yes, absolutely—and I feel like I already explained this. Your eyes are basically permeable membranes, so if someone were to, say, spray blood or some other contaminated bodily fluid near your face, those tiny little microorganisms can definitely find their way in. That's why doctors wear those protective goggles during certain procedures; it's to prevent infection if there's any risk of a splash or spray, isn't it? It's just basic science!
Jesse Morgan3 said:This might sound like a pretty silly question, but I’ve been wondering about something. Is there any chance of catching something actually serious—and I'm not just talking about a common cold or a little flu—if a droplet of saliva happens to hit the mucous membrane of the eye?
It absolutely can, though I honestly don't know which specific illness you're worried about. The thing is, the mucous membranes in your eyes are permeable, meaning microorganisms can travel through them and enter your system quite easily. Just look at medical professionals; why on earth do you think they wear those clear plastic face shields? It's for exactly this reason.
