What's the deal with the Film #2 thread? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
redbear2 said:At that rate, we might as well start insulting any other group whose members we can't account for here on Reddit.

Attacking an entire nationality qualifies as hate speech—which is a violation of the rules on this platform.

I just wanted to mention that I received a report regarding this post and I'm honestly not sure how to handle it. To me, much like many others on this thread, it feels borderline—there are definitely elements of insults and trolling here—so I'll leave it to the mods to decide what to do.

Go ahead then—please, by all means—explain to me how Fisher wasn't being condescending when she brought up "average viewers."

silvergardener6 said:Sheldon Cooper has nothing to do with this movie—he's just a "special" character from a certain series, The Big Bang Theory.

Right, my bad—then there's also Cooper in Interstellar. I guess I'll just delete these posts. Next time, maybe explain that kind of thing in the report; you don't exactly expect me to be watching The Big Bang Theory.

The issue with "average viewers" isn't what you wrote about them, but rather your reaction to a comment that mildly insults the group of viewers who make actual average people feel smart by comparison. That's also trolling on a personal level—because the comment attacks the person, not the movie.

Fish's comment was the one that targeted the person first, labeling everyone who doesn't like Interstellar as "average" compared to her. But, apparently, you haven't noticed that.

And, you know, nobody is actually going to report this post for "personal attacks"—nor will they report the one being referenced, where someone claims people without kids can't grasp the emotional depth of the movie "Interstellar."

silvergardener6 said:It’s about these three posts where this user is mocking me—being provocative and using all those emojis—calling me Sheldon Cooper just to turn the debate into a personal attack.

Oh, please—this topic is incredibly polarizing. There are two completely opposing sides here, and just like how one side gets worked up, the other does too. You're also getting agitated, summarizing things selectively while conveniently ignoring anyone who doesn't fit your narrative. And Sheldon Cooper is a character from a movie you're so desperately defending. I don't know. If the admins, mods, or any other moderators think they need to step in regarding the posts you linked, let them. I just fear there are just as many posts like that on the other side, so singling out these specific ones wouldn't be fair.

As for this whole "average" thing... It’s funny how you aren't reacting to the post I originally replied to—the one where the author decided the movie isn't for average viewers, yet claims to love it, essentially labeling themselves as superior and everyone else as just "average."

northernpilot2 said:northerncrane4 should have stepped in immediately—just like you mentioned earlier—and handed out warnings for off-topic posts. There’s really no point in dwelling on it now since it was clearly just off-topic chatter.

I let the admin know I was swamped with work at the time, so...

Betty Hayes10 didn't report the post when it happened. She waited until today—simply because she wasn't happy about a warning being issued to k-kekec for a post where a user's dad is killing the user's mom.

Anyway, whatever. I'm heading off to issue those off-topic warnings now.

Betty Hayes10 said:If you issue an appeal of a red card here—fine—then you'd better address her comment too. If not, then great.

The analogy is actually different—if I go back and issue an appeal of a red card for this post now, I’ll have to deal with all your previous trolling and off-topic nonsense, too. And frankly, I have zero interest in re-reading all that. 🤷

Betty Hayes10 said:I just love this whole thread-splitting nonsense. Since they were basically identical, you had to re-upload the post from another topic and separate the addition as its own thing—so now it looks like I’ve lost my mind and am just spamming posts back-to-back.

What? 😕

Betty Hayes10 said:Your last comment proves you can't tell the difference between trolling and simply disagreeing.
By your logic, young people should never have a voice in anything since they don't know what the world was like before them.🤦

Well, if I'm not mistaken, kids go to school specifically so they *do* learn what the world was like before them. Being ignorant isn't the same thing as having an opinion.

Betty Hayes10 said:I see that Cat6 post is still sitting there untouched. Do we have to wait another two weeks before you start claiming I didn't report it?

Yeah—just like your endless trolling posts on that thread. Your obsession with an appeal of a red card for that k-kekec post clearly shows you don't even grasp what warrants a ban and what doesn't.
If the admins think that Catov post needs to be banned, they have the authority. Personally, I don't see anything offensive about it.

Betty Hayes10 said:That's what I thought. You just don't agree with me, so you call it trolling.

You've got it wrong—I actually agree with your take on those bands. What I don't agree with is your absolute certainty that they're wrong and you (and I) are right. It’s also pretty bold to lecture long-time listeners about what this station is or how its programming should work—especially since you admitted you only started tuning in recently. That's pure ignorance; trying to force that ignorance on everyone else? That's trolling.

And I'd ask the admins to check their inboxes for that report you supposedly sent on October 24th—because it certainly isn't in mine.

Betty Hayes10 said:So I’m a troll? Give me a definition—what exactly constitutes "trolling"? Is it just having an opinion that clashes with a moderator's?

No—it’s when you hijack a thread about WABC Radio to post one comment after another about how certain news groups are totally out of touch with today's youth, claiming they're completely wrong and that you know better—blah, blah, blah, over and over again.

It’s also trolling when you jump into the "appeal of a red card" thread to complain about someone else's penalty—like when a user gets flagged for bringing up someone's parents.

And you didn't even report him on October 24th. It seems highly unlikely that out of the dozens of reports I get daily, yours somehow vanished. You reported a different post those same days.

Betty Hayes10 said:I reported him twice—just like I said.

No—you reported him today, specifically as a reaction to the ban of that one user mentioned regarding his dad's "behavior" toward his mom.

Betty Hayes10, you’re a troll on this thread—and you know it, too. You've already been warned about that. It seems I was wrong again—failing to cut trolls down at the root when I should have, just to keep the peace. I'll try not to make that mistake next time.

on this exact same thread—which I’ve already reported twice—where user Cat6 calls me variola and posts some weird, twisted image he put together himself... it didn't even earn him a ban. Right, northerncrane4? Since when is insulting someone and calling them variola acceptable here!?

Did you actually report that post? Personally, I don't see anything offensive in it—truth be told, I don't even really get it.

And if I'm not mistaken, complaining about other people's bans isn't exactly how this thread is supposed to work.

The post is from February of this year, yet the user claims "in the last month"—we're heading toward October now. Someone's math isn't adding up. 🤣

So what? He said "in the last month" and now that's some universal rule? Rachel Ortiz33 has been warned multiple times about being abusive toward other users, and absolutely nothing happens. Back on September 16th, I posted in the chat thread that personal bickering should be handled via PMs. Then briskhound2 told him to chill out. Still nothing. Once again, everyone else is treated like they're beneath notice.

Maybe it was a mistake not to issue a partial ban right after that last warning, but no—everyone stays quiet, hoping things will just settle down. Fine, let him have this one, then this one, then another... how long does this go on?

As stated, in six months he can request to have his partial ban lifted, which will be considered. Adios from me.

Primitive? In what way are my posts "primitive"? Besides, I’m not even claiming your posts are what you describe mine to be. Your posts are simply garbage. I find it incredibly rude to intentionally clog one chat with trash, only to come to another one crying about the good old days.
