banderas said:And this last one—man, it’s just from tripping on those stairs, seriously, it’s driving me 😁

😱I guess I'll be more careful where I'm standing next time...

But what about your other injuries? Did you just fall on your ass or something?

banderas said:So now I'm suddenly the bad guy in this story...😕
My own damn injuries are enough for me to deal with...😁

But wait, where did you get all those "injuries" of yours? 😁 You mentioned something about having like 7 or 8 surgeries before...

Thomas Diaz6, for crying out loud, just call the doctor you're supposed to be seeing for your follow-up already.

"even a broken clock is right twice a day" 😁

you're talking about a watch that actually stopped working, right? 😉

the real issue here is that you're just drinking your own Kool-Aid—your whole perspective is totally warped

so yeah, you're never gonna show anyone the actual truth... ever 🤣

When it's actually your own head on the line, maybe then you'll decide to be overly "religious" about it, but right now? Some people are just being proactively paranoid. And honestly? So what if they are.
It's better than smoking like a chimney and eating like a slob and just going, ''Oh, whatever, I'll be fine!''😁

Ugh, give me a break, seriously 😠

What do you even know about my health or my headspace to come flying in that rudely with that "when it's your head on the line" crap????

🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄

Sandra Hayes88, look—the guy literally asked if there’s a way to supplement an enzyme his body is missing (lactase) because he wants to eat stuff with lactose in it. You don't have to believe in it, but the problem actually has a solution, regardless of whether it fits your personal worldview or not. For Garrison's sake 😁

Yeah, well, some people are actually allergic to soy, too—so much for that...

And don't even get me started on the crowd that treats "clean eating" like it's some kind of holy crusade... just another cult to deal with, I guess.

lol, who said I don't already have a coach? 😉

But you typed out "mach"

Anyway, you still got one more question left there—you can just hit me up in the DMs if you want...☕

What are you even tripping about? Who was this even directed at?

And what the hell does "match" mean in this context?

Last but not least: whose clone are you exactly? 😉

placidseal18 said:What’s "violent," huh? You think I'm being a little too aggressive? What, because I've got some Benjamin gear? Too "feminized" for you? Is that what this is about—me talking shop about molecular structures?

Listen, you violent little thing... I'd give you the first three hours for free just to watch the look on your face when an entire new world opens up right in front of you... 😁

Look, I don't have a problem with Benjamin. Honestly, I actually dig it. 😁

But I definitely don't need a coach.

I think you meant "free to reach out," buddy... 😉

Rachel Parker4, honestly, people are right to call you out—saying squash is anaerobic is just plain stupid 😬

And calling it Benjamin👍? That’s a hilarious joke, especially since you're out there talking about hooking up (oops, sorry, I meant *jumping* around) with coaches and big-shot businessmen... 😈

banderas said:rustymoose54, look—it’s not like Type 1s just jump straight onto insulin every single time... it really depends on that whole "honeymoon phase" nonsense and whatever way your endocrinologist decides to play it. Personally, I didn't even touch insulin until four months after my diagnosis—just stuck to a strict diet during those first few months.

For real though, things were a little different like twenty years ago—especially if you spent a few months pretending you just had a nasty flu to dodge the doctor... 😉

By some stroke of luck, you actually got diagnosed early enough.

But honestly, that doesn't change the bottom line... if you're a textbook Type 1, once those beta cells are gone, they're gone for good, and insulin is basically the only thing keeping you in the game.

Anyway, welcome to the Alchemistry forum! 😁
Megan White4 said:Are you like, some kind of specialist—a diabetologist or an endocrinologist or something? What’s the move when someone’s blood sugar is sitting between 180 and 270 despite being on insulin and sticking strictly to their diet? Asking because my dad is dealing with this exact mess right now...

Look, your old man has Type 2, and it just isn't under control. There are basically two big reasons why his numbers are spiking (which is pretty much the deal with Type 2 in general):

1. Insulin resistance—basically, his cells are just ignoring the insulin and can't use it properly.

2. Pancreatic burnout, where the organ just isn't pumping out enough insulin anymore.

Since the pills stopped doing the trick, they switched him over to insulin therapy. Honestly, it might be worth talking to his doctor about combining the insulin with meds that help tackle that insulin resistance?

Another thing: he really needs to be testing constantly—like every hour or two. I know that sounds totally insane, but sometimes that's the only way to actually get a read on his metabolism and find some kind of stability. And hey, if you run out of lancets for your fingertips, don't try using your toes—just use the side of your finger instead. Given those high numbers, it’s obvious he’s dealing with a RELATIVE lack of insulin—so he needs to dose up whenever he's above his target range.

Megan White4 said:By the way, they caught my dad's diabetes completely by accident when his blood sugar hit like 450! Total shocker!!! And for the first ten years, everything was perfectly fine with just pills. So much for "sudden symptoms"... About 2 or 3 years ago, he had to switch to insulin because the tablets just weren't cutting it anymore.

By "average," I meant that middle range of values between 180 and 360.

With Type 1, you gotta start insulin immediately or the patient is dead within a few months. Your dad has Type 2, which is just at the stage where he's become dependent on insulin.

That average range of 180–360 mg/dL usually only happens when patients aren't being managed properly.

And yeah, I'm not a doctor. I can shoot you a DM about what I do for work if you want. 🙂

And sorry if I sounded arrogant there, didn't mean to come off that way.
Megan White4 said:Nah. From what I recall, the standard range is somewhere between 3.5 and 6—or maybe 6.5... honestly, my memory's a bit fuzzy right now... 🤔

Normal blood glucose levels for whole blood usually sit between 3.3 and 6.1 mmol/L.

Kevin Gonzalez79, you really gotta check what kind of device you're using for these readings—whether it's measuring whole blood or plasma (because concentrations run higher in plasma)

Usually, fasting numbers hover a bit lower than the upper limit. A 5.2 isn't cause for panic, but a 7.2? Yeah, that’s definitely stepping outside the norm...

Megan White4 said:Basically, don't sweat it too much—if you actually had full-blown diabetes without any insulin or meds, you'd probably be looking at something north of 10.

Actually, that's not quite right. With Type 2, early on, fasting levels (without meds) often stay under 10 mmol/L. Doctors won't even touch insulin for a Type 2 patient until they've exhausted every other option first.

With Type 1, you're on insulin immediately, but that's a completely different beast altogether—the symptoms hit you out of nowhere.

Megan White4 said:Plus, sugar can spike from pretty much anything—stress, getting worked up, even just thinking about dessert; apparently, Formula 1 drivers have blood sugar levels after a race similar to an average diabetic...

But like people say, it'd be a good idea to go get a glucose tolerance test just to be sure...

I have no clue what the sugar levels are for Formula 1 drivers. Besides, there's no such thing as an "average diabetic." You've got people who are well-managed—their peak glucose during the day doesn't even cross 8, maybe 9 mmol/L at most. Then you've got the poorly managed ones whose levels are all over the place, but those aren't "average" diabetics. Living like that for years leads to some seriously nasty health issues.

Kevin Gonzalez79, just go get an OGTT. If you're near a major medical center like Mayo Clinic or something, just call them and get it sorted.

From what I gather about how this place works, if someone gets slapped with a ban, it’s totally shady to just spin up a new handle and keep acting like nothing happened—especially when they're still pushing the exact same garbage that got them kicked in the first place.

So, I'm honestly scratching my head here... I don't get how James Newman4 is even allowed to post on here given that whole ban situation...

well, using deuterated water would definitely mess things up somehow😁

plus it’d slow down those proton exchange reactions—you know, the kinetic isotope effect stuff... KIE... 🤣

but honestly, pure distilled water is what really does the job

And don't even get me started on how drinking distilled water can basically wreck your DNA structure... 😲
