- so where even is this Tom Tailor place... what kind of brand is it anyway?
- maybe, but honestly, I've already moved on. I know exactly when it happened: the second you wrote that massive wall of text just trying to justify yourself 😉
- You can find Tom Tailor at the Magmina department store over on Ilica—it's right near Esprit and all those other spots (if you're walking from the Square toward Frankopanska, it's on the right side, just past where Gundulićeva crosses)
Look, I might actually be able to help you out—but how can I, when you’ve gone and roasted me like that up there? 😠
Just kidding... mostly. I totally get where Toja's coming from, honestly. I deal with the exact same thing—and my husband too. You know how it is once you hit a certain age... those rapper-style, "look-at-me" fits and all that other nonsense just don't sit right on us anymore. 🙄
Check out Levi's—and I don't just mean the 501s, they've got plenty of those classic, older cuts left...
We actually picked up some decent, normal-looking men's jeans at Tom Tailor recently. Not sure what the selection is like over at Benetton, though... maybe it's worth a look?
Angela Kelly said:Oh, please... just stop already.. I never—not once, ever— said the flu was an autoimmune disease... you’re the one who twisted my words together just so you could have some little "fun" with it—and honestly, you're kind of a pro at twisting things to suit your needs, aren't you? I hope this little "game" of yours gave you enough satisfaction for one day.
No, actually, you wrote this:
Alternative ways to treat the flu and boost immunity
I thought it would be good to have a thread like this in the Health section... just so we can all learn how to strengthen our immune systems, beat the flu, and deal with autoimmune disorders.
🙄 🙄 🙄
Look, you messed up—you're certainly not the first person to do it, trust me—but why won't you just admit it, lady? You thought autoimmune disorders were linked to a weakened immune system? WRONG. The only connection is that autoimmune issues result in CHRONIC ILLNESSES, which wear the body down until it becomes "immunocompromised," making it way easier to catch the flu. PLUS, people with chronic conditions are much more likely to deal with nasty flu complications.
But, for the record, NOT all chronic illnesses are autoimmune.
And yeah, I was having a laugh reading some of the funny posts around here. Not yours, though—don't flatter yourself. ☕
It’s such a shame that people who actually had decent, constructive points decided to just bail... I seriously hate when a thread that could actually be useful gets derailed by people's sheer stupidity and deep-seated insecurities...
I don't get it—what are you actually looking for here? A thread where the only people showing up are the ones who don't realize the flu isn't an autoimmune disorder?😁
Look, I don't care if you want to go the holistic route or stick to mainstream medicine, do whatever works for you, honestly. But if someone starts posting stuff publicly that I know for a fact is straight-up nonsense, yeah, I'm gonna say something. Sorry if you're taking that personally, but that sounds like a "you" problem...
Kyle Nelson2 said:I got 'em... but I won't bother saying because my posts just go totally unnoticed anyway...😛
Oh, they don't go unnoticed—I actually brought up your comment specifically because you were the first one to call out that inaccuracy in that first post—you know, the one about how preventing the flu relates to autoimmune diseases.
Anyway, that lady in your apartment building who had those two strokes? She probably went through that because she spent years ignoring high blood pressure without getting any treatment. Seriously, why wouldn't she just get it handled?
Angela Kelly said:I really don't have the energy to dive into chemistry right now. I've always hated chem... biology was my thing... I even taught physics and math for AP classes back in high school—well, for the last two years of senior year—but since we didn't separate bio, chem, and physics into different subjects until later in the curriculum here, I couldn't technically teach "science" specifically... so yeah, if I haven't fallen in love with chemistry after all these years, it's probably not happening...
Look, fine, you don't like chemistry, but then maybe don't go rambling on about reading immunology research papers... I mean, if you want to actually grasp how immunology works, you've gotta understand at least the basics of chem. Like, sure, you might be reading them, but what's the point if you don't get the underlying logic?
And don't even get me started on alternative ways to boost immunity... or should we talk about autoimmune diseases? Should we? 🤣
Angela Kelly said:first off, quit coming at me for no reason... if you just want to fight, go find someone else to bicker with... I was talking about fibromyalgia not some "fribo" thing... Look, I'm no medical expert... that's literally why I'm asking questions here... I know a tiny bit about Cytokine Storm and cytokines too... hence the questions...
In my book, stress is the absolute worst thing you can do to your immune system...
Good grief, where on earth did I insult you? 🤔
It's fibromyalgia—it's just how you say it, and hey, even I make typos sometimes...
It's cytokines, not "cikotini"...
If you’ve actually been digging through all those scientific papers you keep bragging about, I’m pretty sure any chemist’s explanation would be way too simple for you. Just Google it, you'll find it.
For the eighth time in this thread: grouping the flu in with AUTOIMMUNE diseases is just plain wrong. It's misinformation. 🙂 Or does that offend you too?
And stress... oh boy, here we go again. If you actually bother to read the research properly, you'd know what physiological stress really is. The kind of "stress" you're rambling about here is just everyday annoyance and the frantic pace of life—is that what you mean? 😉
Angela Kelly said:Secondly... my whole logic here is that if a person's immune system is already compromised—say from things like arthritis, severe asthma, bad eczema, fibromyalgia, whatever—then they’re just gonna be way more vulnerable when they run into other illnesses...
If that wasn't true, why would everyone in those "weak immune system" groups constantly be talking about getting their flu shots and stuff? ..
Honey, you clearly haven't grasped a single thing despite all that Googling you're doing... 😁
I think you meant fibromyalgia...
CHRONICALLY ILL people—which includes anyone whose condition stems from autoimmune issues—really should be getting vaccinated against the flu, because their underlying condition can take a massive hit if they catch the virus (exactly like 😉 )
We're talking autoimmune diseases like lupus, certain kidney issues, Type 1 diabetes (which has zero to do with weight or eating junk), etc.
And look, there are plenty of chronic patients whose main diagnosis isn't even related to autoimmune disorders, but the recommendation for vaccination still applies to them too...
Since you're such a total "expert" in alternative immunology and all that, maybe you could actually explain to us what cytokines even are before using the "Cytokine Storm" metaphor... 🙂 😁
Angela Kelly said:That’s just facts... I’ve spent ages digging through scientific papers... mostly sticking to stuff from state-run universities in the UK, the US, and Canada that focus on alternative medicine. And did you even know that over in the UK, Medicare—well, their version of it—actually covers homeopathic hospitals? Like, if patients want to ditch the standard treatments, they can just go to a homeopathic clinic and have it all paid for by insurance.
Good grief, listen... trying to prevent the flu and "carrying" autoimmune diseases have absolutely zero connection. Why won't you just admit you totally missed the mark here? 🙄
I mean, what's the point of reading all those scientific studies if you don't actually get the basics? Look, don't get me wrong, it's not a crime—you just clearly didn't get the formal training because you're busy doing other things with your life—but hey, that's why schools and universities exist for a reason.
Look, dea, please—just don't come at ME with all that carbohydrate metabolism stuff, seriously... 🙂
It’s all well and good, really, and I’m not trying to pick a fight or anything—do whatever you think is best for you and your kid—but just please, spare me the lecture on sugar, okay? My blood pressure can't take it... I'll end up losing my mind, and nobody wants that (not being personal or anything!) 😉
That post you quoted? It was actually talking about what Kumek and placidfox55 said, not you.
Look, Angela Kelly, anyone can have a bad day and mess things up—it happens to the best of us. Why are you getting all worked up now? For crying out loud, I wasn't trying to take a shot at you...
Besides, spreading fake news about health and meds is potentially DANGEROUS stuff. Trying to stop the misinformation and actually get the right facts out there is something we should be doing for everyone else. Or am I totally off base here? 🙂
Štef, I hear you, everything you said makes sense—really, it does—but it doesn't actually answer what Kumek was asking. Look, at the end of the day, a glucose molecule is just a glucose molecule. Once it hits the cell, the body doesn't care if it came from an organic farm or a factory... it’s all the same deal. The real kicker is that it takes longer for it to even hit your bloodstream if you're eating whole grains versus just slamming some cookies. But honestly? You get that exact same effect—that slow absorption and the delayed insulin response from the pancreas—if you just pair some bread with something super greasy, like 😁 ...
Angela Kelly said:Look, autoimmune stuff and the flu aren't even the same thing... I never actually said they were linked... I was just opening up a discussion about alternative ways to handle the flu and autoimmune issues..
The common denominator, obviously— it's just the human immune system
* Please, everyone, let's keep it civil and try not to get all aggressive and start picking fights over nothing
Angela Kelly said:Alternative ways to fight the flu and boost immunity I figured it’d be useful to have a thread like this here on the Health forum... just so we can learn how to beef up our immune systems, kick the flu's ass, and manage autoimmune conditions
Based on that second quote (which is basically your original post that started this whole mess), you threw autoimmune diseases in there by mistake—likely just because you didn't realize they don't fit under "natural ways to boost immunity" at all 😉
Here's the reality check: You don't really know what those specific diseases entail, and honestly, as a total amateur, you couldn't wrap your head around their actual causes anyway (not that anyone fully understands them yet)... either way, they have zero connection to natural methods for preventing the flu.
If we took this same logic and moved it over to the Beauty section, it would sound something like this:
Someone starts a thread titled: Waxing, how to deal with unwanted hair
And then the post goes: excess hair, ingrowns, pain, cost, blah blah blah and ends with: and that's why I think we should talk about waxing and hair straightening here
😁
**I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm just having a little fun here
Look, my buddy driftinggull13, you’re spot on as usual.
Anyway, if we were looking at why you stay so healthy through some "alternative medicine" lens, I bet the explanation would go something like this:
Basically, you’re just too damn stubborn—too pissed off at the world, really 😁—to actually let a little cold or heaven forbid the flu get a foothold in your system. Honestly? It’s all in your head. If you actually relaxed for a second, you'd probably catch something. And then you'd be forced to start eating nothing but kale and acting like some total health nut. You'd have to forget everything you know about chemistry 😁 and all that nonsense... Seriously though, sometimes I wonder if I'd be healthier if I just knew less. Maybe life would be easier if I just bought into chakras, "vibes," and all that other hippie crap...
Someone brought this up earlier but the OP didn't even address it: For crying out loud, Angela Kelly, what the hell does an autoimmune disease have to do with the flu???
edit: totally forgot about the magical-mystical ability our cells have to tell the difference between glucose molecules based on where they came from 🙂
jadesailor14 said:During that first year, some people had such a massive reaction to the shot that they started claiming the flu was basically nothing compared to it.
Honestly, all this just proves those folks have probably never actually dealt with a real flu in their lives... they just caught some random virus and assumed it was the flu because, well, life...
Man hasn't even been born yet who's worthy enough to carry a watermelon for nimbleskipper13... 🤣
I gotta be honest, I’ve been sitting here wondering what this so-called "topic" is even doing on this subforum. It’s got zero connection to health—unless we're talking about mental stability, I guess...
so how did you even figure out it was PCOS before you actually went in for an exam? (besides the fact that I’m guessing you were dealing with acne and some weight gain or whatever...)
Walter Garcia6 said:... hands down the most disgusting, pampered, and brain-dead group of people in our entire society...
I’m guessing your kids aren't getting their standard shots either—and let me guess, if they get appendicitis, you'll just try to pull the worm out yourself with your bare hands? 😁
Look, seriously: I get it, you probably had some nightmare experience with a doctor or two, and honestly, I feel for you. But that doesn't make everything you just typed above true. Just tell us what actually happened, what went wrong, whatever...
Or hey, why not just go screw with them properly? Go to med school, get the degree, and show 'em how it's done. 😉
Look, from that very first hit, your cells basically grow these opioid receptors that just start screaming for more
So you think you're just chilling with some weed one day, and before you know it, you're reaching for the cocaine or heroin just to feel normal🙄
The truth is, those receptors are already there—it’s not even about the specific high. The only reason people say you "slide from weed to coke" is because they’re all lumped together under the "illegal drugs" umbrella. It's not some mystical chemical progression; it's just because we decided to make them all outlaws in the eyes of the law
I swear, I will never wrap my head around why smoking Marlboros or grabbing a beer is totally fine, but lighting up a joint is treated like it's a direct ticket to an overdose on crack
