slymoose4, if there were actually a method out there with a 90% success rate for curing cancer, the person who invented or used it would be hailed as the person of the millennium, aside from winning a Nobel Prize.

Sure, diet plays a huge role in how certain diseases develop, but honestly, buying into the theory that everyone gets cancer just because they eat poorly would be totally nuts.

When you look at Tom's story, there’s one super dangerous theory we really shouldn't overlook.

Stopping radiation treatments to switch over to holistic healing.

Okay, but seriously—do we even have the right, or who gives us permission, to just walk away from "official" medical treatment??

I was chatting on the phone today with an active member here on the forum, and she’s dealing with the exact same dilemma: stick with radiation or try "my own therapy."😠 😠

Can any of us truly take the risk of ditching the standard medical protocols for certain diseases and just go purely alternative?

We all know spontaneous healings from the toughest kinds of tumors happen, but let’s be real—none of us can actually explain how that happens.

Just to be clear, I’m not against alternative medicine at all; I actually support it. But when I hear people talking about "my way" versus "official medicine," I can't help but wonder if the people pushing those methods are actually sick themselves or just dangerous manipulators.
So, people always ask why anyone would spend 4 hours a day at the gym 🙄 just to get those "perfectly" shredded muscles.
I’m definitely not looking to go pro in this "sport," but I see all these suggestions everywhere
regarding whey protein🙄
. As far as I know, Weider makes some of them, and they aren't exactly cheap anymore (though hey, if you love it, you buy it)
. The fact that they don't have digestive enzymes, or that they use those "super helpful" artificial sweeteners and glutamine... I don't know who else is bothered by that🙄
.
Honestly, I'd recommend buying a massive bulk bag 😉 😛 rather than a little 5lb tub. For example, half a pound can run you anywhere from $110-$43(which is only about 14 servings)
. So yeah, grabbing a huge bulk supply is the way to go if you want to save cash.

But let's break down what actually happens when you overdo the protein.

I won't ramble too much because you probably already know that proteins are essential for any body, but they're a pretty lousy source of energy.

Daily protein needs usually sit between 40-100g. That's easy enough to calculate, and honestly, with a decent diet, most of us blow past that limit easily😉
.
So, how does the body handle that protein "surplus"? Aside from using it to build muscle mass—which is what everyone wants—or keeping things running smoothly, UNUSED protein just turns into fat and sugar.😉
Any extreme protein surplus that doesn't get metabolized isn't going to trigger muscle growth; it’s just going to make you gain weight.
If someone tries to pump up their muscles by slamming 20 pounds of protein regardless of how much time they actually spend working out, 😉 their kidneys and liver take such a massive hit that it's not even worth writing about.
It's obvious that when healthy kidneys are working overtime, they're going to produce a ton of urine. Besides flushing out waste, you end up losing electrolytes that your body desperately needs to function normally.

Bottom line: overdoing it with protein in athletes leads to a massive backlash. The body loses way too many electrolytes through dehydration, and I won't bore you with the details, but basically, your endurance just tanks over time.

You won't see the consequences immediately, but they'll definitely show up eventually.

Look, everyone has the right to eat whatever they want, but personally, I'm not about that "chemical" lifestyle just to chase muscle mass and definition.
I'm totally on board with what you wrote here 👍
I've got a feeling you might be running low on protein, which would explain why you're looking at supplements, but let's not just guess. Tell us what's going on and which specific brand you're eyeing—and don't forget to mention how much useful info you've picked up from Arsen and Chain along the way!

I think the doctor made an unknown good call here, because those issues can get pretty messy fast, just like you pointed out.
The reality is there’s some stuff going on in the duodenum, but with regular checkups and the right meds, I bet the doc might switch up the prescription. Fingers crossed things stabilize soon.
Look, I won't bore you with a massive deep dive right away, but the idea is to build a site that actually gives people helpful, real-world info if they're dealing with cancer or any other health struggles. I'm not claiming to have some earth-shattering, revolutionary concept here—let's be real—but I truly believe we can create a guide that isn't just a giant pile of dry, boring facts. I think we've got what it takes to make that happen.
I definitely wasn't born knowing how to run a website, and I know this stuff isn't exactly easy, but I really feel like it's worth a shot.
For me, the heart of the whole concept would be focusing on interactivity and live support. That’s where the real value is.
I'm more than happy to lay out the full vision for anyone who is serious and genuinely interested, but a forum like this probably isn't the best place to dump the whole blueprint.
It's not like I'm some big-shot innovator or trying to be an enlightened guru. I have zero interest in chasing internet fame. It's just that after seeing what my wife went through personally, and hearing everyone else's stories, I feel like something like this is actually needed.
I could mention a few sites that do something similar, but I don't want to steer this conversation off on a tangent.
You’re basically assuming your gut 🙄 bacteria is totally wrecked.😁 But besides saying the diarrhea was "bad," how many times a day were you actually going?
And what did it
look like 😲 (color, mucus, etc.)?

When you say the diarrhea and consistency were "weird and worrying," can you be a bit more specific?
(Again, it really matters how many times you went and what your usual routine looks like.)

Look, regarding seeing a doctor, I personally don't think you need to rush out.😉If it were something seriously bad, you probably would've ended up in the ER during the first episode. You wouldn't just be dehydrated; your electrolytes would be so trashed that your body would basically force you to run to the doctor immediately.

As for food, I'm sure you know how to make a decent chicken noodle soup😉 without burning it.
The standard hospital diet usually involves dry toast, gelatin, chicken broth, and unsweetened tea.
After sticking to that for a day, things should start getting back to normal.

Based on those tests, it looks like your liver is totally fine.

The other possibility could be some issues with your bile ducts, like a blockage.
Urgent: Erosive Gastritis - Help needed!!! in Health ·
Nexium usually doesn't cause side effects like that since it's pretty much the standard go-to for heartburn, even if people overdo it sometimes.
Honestly, those pains are probably all in your head—I mean, you mentioned yourself that your stomach has been fine until now. Besides, the main focus is on changes happening in your duodenum.

So, what was the actual reason you ended up getting a gastroscopy in the first place?
Anyone else dealing with a crooked smile? in Health ·
You should definitely hit up a urologist just to get some peace of mind and see if your suspicions are right. If they do find something, you're gonna need to get a semen analysis done too. Try to give us a better idea of what you're actually seeing down there with the testicles.😉
Been away for a minute and wow, looks like a bunch of new faces have joined the party. (sad times!)
slyseal28, I think I already gave you all the info I had on Immunomax over in the private messages.

So, I started this project to build a website—it’s live now, just waiting for a crew of people willing to jump in and help me turn it into a massive "guidebook for cancer survival."

In a perfect world, I’d handle the whole thing myself, but my wife Mary is actually starting her chemo sessions this week👎 and the protocol they have planned isn't exactly sunshine and rainbows.

I’m putting the call out one more time: if you know your stuff and want to write for the site, please reach out! We’ve got the concept down, but we desperately need a designer and a few more hands on deck to get everything fully operational.
analogcobra94, hey, shoot me a DM please.

Jane and slyseal28, I went ahead and got the Mambo site up and running, so now
we just need to nail down the design and figure out our game plan. Personally, I’d love to team up with you guys 👍 and I think anyone interested should definitely jump on this.
The vision for the site—the core idea is basically building a "patient guide"
with a huge focus on interactivity.
I've done some web work before, so I know this won't be a walk in the park, but hey, we can give it a shot. 👍

Jane, unfortunately, the state of non-profits here in America is pretty much what you'd expect. 🙄 If I'm remembering correctly, there are about 50 organizations in the US that should be tackling the exact issues we're discussing, but like you said, you already know how things really work.😠

Genetics is such a massive, complicated field that we might even need a separate thread for it. From what I know about synovial sarcoma, the cause isn't even fully understood.
Older medical texts used to mention some "alleged" links regarding the development of soft tissue tumors.

For quick and easy communication, I'd suggest using Skype. I much prefer jumping on a call rather than just typing in a chat because, besides being free, 😉 it's just way easier.

John Green14, you definitely need to check in with your doctor to get some real answers.
At this point, it’s all just guesswork. 😉

How can I get Zithromax? in Health ·
If we just played fast and loose with diagnoses or started handing out meds whenever someone felt like it, everything would basically descend into total chaos. 😲

I won't go on listing endless examples, but we’d end up seeing situations exactly like the one mentioned at the start of this thread. If I—or anyone else in my shoes—had been given Zithromax, the illness might have just "vanished" in two days (though whether that was actually the Zithromax is debatable). So why can't I just get it?

In this specific case, the "grumpy," "intense," and "stubborn" doctor did exactly what she was supposed to do. She clearly wasn't being mean or whatever; she sent the girl to a specialist for a reason.

Honestly, we patients can be pretty weird sometimes. Half the time, we don't even know what we actually want.
If our primary care doc prescribes something meant to fix us up, but then it turns out they missed some symptoms and we aren't feeling better, we shouldn't start a huge fight. Why complain if the doc didn't send us to a specialist in the first place?

So, one of the symptoms just got labeled as "impaired glucose tolerance."
It’s pretty rare to see this in younger folks. Usually, it starts popping up once you hit 40.
Since you've been fully worked up and everything, if you're feeling alright, I'd say just let it be.👍
I mean, you could probably list out all the symptoms right now, but honestly, I don't think there's much point unless you're just looking to geek out on the info.😉 Plus, they aren't even that specific. The main thing is just making sure you feel okay.🙂
Living with hemochromatosis in Health ·
Look, I’ve got zero medical training or anything like that.😉 I just pick up doctor books at home 😉 or stuff about healthy living and whatever.😛 But there's no way I'm starting med school at my age.
I wouldn't call myself a pro, but after being into this for 12 years—between reading up on things and chatting with some doctor buddies I've made along the way—I pretty much "get" it. Let's just say medicine is my hobby.😉.
Back when I was a kid, maybe 35 years ago, I actually wanted to be a doctor. But I totally missed the boat on college, ended up drifting through psychology, and even did some work at a hospital as a technician.😉

Honestly, even if I were young enough to choose right now, I still wouldn't go for it. The grind to finally become a specialist is absolutely brutal—you know how it is.

BTW, I can tell you're hitting the books right now.😉
Living with hemochromatosis in Health ·
Basically, hemochromatosis is all about how your body messes up its iron metabolism.
Sam Hall15 mentioned that certain pigments 😉—like we talked about earlier regarding iron buildup in organs like the liver, pancreas, or heart.
So, did you actually get a formal diagnosis?? And how'd they figure it out?
Sam Hall15, don't go scaring everyone! 😛
As long as you're doing phlebotomy and avoiding major complications, things can turn out totally fine.
Just stay on top of it with regular checkups with a specialist.
PET/CT scans in Denver? in Health ·
video, replied😉
PET/CT scans in Denver? in Health ·
Just dropping what I already sent you in our private chat right here too.😉
If your doctor mentioned they have a PET scan available but hinted it might not be super reliable, they’ll likely suggest heading over to Denver—it's a really straightforward process there.

So, I'm guessing which doctor we're talking about here. Why don't you just ask them to put in a formal request to get that PET/CT done in Denver (even though Budapest is the main hub for this part of the world) and have them explain exactly why they're referring you out? Basically, if the local setup at Mayo Clinic isn't cutting it—and hopefully they have some solid reasons for saying so—then I say go for Denver or somewhere else entirely.

Medicare might not greenlight it right away (you'd be waiting forever, unfortunately), but if you hit them with hard facts, it shouldn't be an issue. Just because one person or a few others didn't get approval from Medicare doesn't mean you won't.
