It’s honestly such a bummer that we don't really have a multidisciplinary approach for cancer patients here in the States, and honestly, I doubt things are going to change anytime soon. Getting psychiatric or psychological support is totally standard in some clinics, but trying to find that kind of care through our system? Yeah, pretty much a lost cause. Since I work in healthcare myself, I know that even if people actually wanted to make it happen, putting it into practice is a massive uphill battle.

Bloodshot eyes: What's causing them?
in Health ·
Walter Wilson, don't even sweat the whole thing about high intracranial or eye pressure😉—it's probably not worth your headspace. But look, if that redness doesn't clear up in three or four days, go ahead and hit up your primary care doctor first. They can hook you up with a referral to an eye specialist if they think it's necessary, though I’m pretty sure it'll just settle down on its own.
You shouldn't need any intense medical treatments, but seriously, try not to strain those eyes too much.

Look, it’s pretty obvious that either you or your friend got an official diagnosis from a doctor—and hopefully some treatment too.
Usually, this stuff spreads through sex 😉 or pops up after a round of antibiotics, which usually means it’s just a yeast infection caused by Candida. You probably already know the symptoms, so I won't go on about it, but honestly, it’s really not a huge deal.👍
Just use some over-the-counter feminine wipes for a few days and you'll be fine.

Stiff leg... help!

We could sit here all day playing doctor, but honestly? My best advice is to just head 😉 over to your physician.
Are you dealing with varicose veins in your legs? And besides the pain, is the area noticeably thicker, or maybe a little red and warm compared to the rest of your leg?

When you’re getting bloodwork done, they usually check your AST, ALT, and Gamma GT. Bilirubin isn't actually an enzyme, but doctors almost always run it alongside those transaminases anyway.
People often call liver enzymes "transaminases," but honestly, trying to explain what it means when just one specific number is high is a total headache. Still, I think it’s a smart move to get these checked once a year—especially if you're on any meds, enjoy a few drinks, or eat a lot of greasy comfort food.
If your levels come back slightly elevated, don't freak out; it doesn't automatically mean your liver is in trouble. But, if that happens, you'll definitely want to follow up with some imaging like an ultrasound, a CT scan, or an MRI.

Metastasis: Any hope for treatment?

Here’s my take on this, Amy Roberts6. I haven't managed to find out exactly what kind of tumor we're dealing with or what the initial pathology report actually said yet, but I'll keep you posted. It’s busted. Let's talk about metastases.
Just take this as my two cents, okay? We really should wait until those hospital pH results come back before making any big calls.
Honestly, I find it a little weird when you say even morphine wasn't doing the trick for the pain. I get that Tridol isn't exactly a stepping stone to morphine, but hey, that’s probably not even the point right now.
I totally get that you want to do everything possible to help your mom out, but honestly? I wouldn’t touch any kind of mushroom supplements right now—especially not Megamin. I know some people might disagree with me on this one, but look, there’s been huge debates over those stuff before. Doctors have even gone on record calling them out publicly. Plus, the American pharmacological community has been super clear and laid out their arguments against using Megamin quite thoroughly. Just be careful!
Just your run-of-the-mill placebo effect.

I honestly feel like this thread should just be deleted. First off, I don't see any real reason why this belongs in the health forum, and second, it’s pretty sketchy asking for ways to knock yourself out fast and efficiently.👎 😠

I won't bore you with all the technical jargon about grading, let’s just keep it simple
Grading is basically used to set certain prognostic benchmarks. So, you should look at a G1 as a good sign, whereas a G3 is unfortunately considered a poor indicator. Obviously, grade affects other criteria too, but there's really no point in stressing over those right now.
Regarding that last point you made—you could argue things are looking up, but honestly, try to keep in mind that this report was primarily designed to help doctors decide whether or not to push forward with chemo.
Anyway, I'm sending nothing but the best vibes to your grandpa.

For sure, if there’s any liver stuff going on, then Mary shouldn't be touching the Hershey bars.😉
Personally, I don't think there's any real risk of pseudomembranous enterocolitis, and I bet Mary will breeze through the whole course without needing to swap out the antibiotic.

Your primary care doctor is supposed to jump on those symptoms no matter what. Just a heads-up though—sometimes they might write it off as just stress or something psychosomatic, especially if you mention that weird "lump in your throat" feeling.
Honestly, I’d just go 🙂 back to the doctor and really press them to explain things clearly. Don't be afraid to insist on a referral to a specialist if you aren't getting answers.
But hey, if you've got some extra cash to burn 😉 and you really want a specialist's take right away, you can always book a private internist at a clinic like Mayo Clinic.

Ciprofloxacin is definitely a "wild" antibiotic😉 but you basically reached the same conclusion I did—you’ve gotta pick the lesser of two evils when it comes to your stomach issues.
Honestly, dealing with diarrhea is pretty common with Cisco, but try tackling it head-on by watching what you eat. gentlecanyon92 actually gave some solid advice there (sticking to things like bananas, boiled meat, maybe some Hershey, etc.)

Assistant Professor of Maxillofacial Surgery

The_Dee just to clear things up, the head over at the suburb facility is Prof. Mišo Virag. Honestly, if you ask me, their Maxillofacial Surgery department is easily the best in the whole US. Dr. Željko Orihovac is a younger surgeon—maybe in his early 40s? I can't be certain—but he’s done an incredible amount of advanced training at top clinics in England, Germany, and Switzerland. Definitely highly recommended!🙂

Hey, drop the name of that intense antibiotic😉 and tell us why you're on it.
Honestly, unless it’s some super "wild" antibiotic that totally trashes your liver, I wouldn't sweat it too much 🙂
But if you're taking anything from the tetracycline family, stay far away from yogurt or any other dairy products. It’s a big no-no.
Anyway, for a more helpful post, just list the antibiotic name 🙂

Since I’ve dealt with my own battles with cancer, I know firsthand that getting a rock-solid diagnosis is everything. There are massive mistakes made in the process all the time, it's true, but I'll stick to what you wrote without playing guessing games. If you want to keep posting here or just shoot me a private message, go for it. One thing is for sure, though: doctors find it incredibly tough to give any kind of prognosis in these situations, and chemo or radiation are usually the next steps on the table.
As for whether this is the end of the road? You're going to get all sorts of subjective opinions, but if you actually want a meaningful answer, you've got to be more specific about what's going on. Based on what you said, I'm guessing we might be looking at some kind of lymphoma, but I can't say much else until we have a clear diagnosis.
