The whole thing feels like a direct nod to the plot of the novel carbon footprint. Only instead of calling it overflow over there, they went with embedding. 😁

Consultations are still underway. Just asking for a little patience here... You’ve got quite a few sins weighing on your soul, and deep down, you know it too.

Sean Johnson40 said:The movie is bad. I won't call it trash, but it’s close. Schwarzenegger still acts mediocre and overly dramatic (that scene with his son!). It totally ruins the whole vibe because every time I see him, I can't stop thinking about his real life—how he talks about being married to one woman forever and being loyal to the core (even though we all know what kind of guy he really is, hitting on half of Hollywood and having kids on the side). The supporting cast is pathetic, almost funny (look at those background fighters), while he’s supposed to be tougher than all of them? He looks like a twig compared to the rest of the team. And a Navy SEAL getting taken out with almost zero resistance by those guys in Guatemala? Please.

All that beating and the pools of blood are just there to shock the audience. It reminds me of what Sydney Pollack said regarding Three Days of the Condor: "Film a lot of blood, add good music, and you've got a good movie." Arnie knows that trick well. Even if he didn't write the script, he definitely had influence over it; I bet if it wasn't his style, he wouldn't have even touched it. Basically, the lesson here is: when you don't have a coherent piece of work, just lean on violence and blood to fill the void. It feels like they followed a recipe: more blood equals better.

The peak of the cheesiness is that actress (who, let's be honest, probably shoved herself or let herself be shoved into that role in her private life just to snag a supporting part as the investigator). The absolute worst part was at the end of the film when Arnold told the director to zoom in on her backside and hold it in a close-up for a few seconds while she struts around like she's on a runway. She probably thinks she'll land a sponsor or something—this is her big break. Knowing how things go, Arnold's probably already used her up and tossed her aside...

4/10

The only two good movies I can remember from this year are Jack Strong and Kid Cannabis. Of course, both made next to nothing at the box office.

If you aren't paying close attention, you'll miss it. There weren't even any Guatemalans there. It was all just staged to look that way...

The movie has its fair share of plot holes, but honestly, it’s surprisingly dark for an Arnold Schwarzenegger flick—plus the story doesn't just hit you over the head immediately. Not bad...

Rachel Fowler61 said:Brilliant??? Give me a break—I don't think I've ever seen someone with that much zero talent in my entire life... I mean, sure, she's gorgeous, but that's about it. If her fiancé wasn't Johnny Depp, there's no way she'd be landing any roles at all...

Opposite... I don't even know where to start with this one... just feels like there's nothing left to say, really. It’s pure Oscar bait, honestly. But let’s be real—she landed those roles (two of them, actually) just because she was warming up Statha's bed. So, when it comes to playing the game and getting those perks... my vote goes to Amber.

I... I'm still thinking about that film... honestly, I don't know if I can quite wrap my head around it yet. It’s one of those movies that stays with you, even if you aren't sure whether you actually liked it or just found it fascinating... which is a weird distinction to make, I guess. There was just something about the pacing—or maybe the lack thereof—that felt intentional, though it definitely tested my patience at times. Still, I can't stop chewing on it... It was a fun ride, honestly—even if it didn't quite hit that massive potential it seemed to have...

Twenty-two years without a single scandal... honestly, at this point, he’s such a pro at burying his secrets that it’s more likely he’s just actually clean than anything else. You clearly aren't a huge fan of Warren Beatty... 🤣

I mean, he literally put that right there in his own bio—he’s basically out here flexing that number like it's some kind of trophy... 🤷

So, you know how Tarantino told his biographer that he actually had a role in Romanov's Dawn of the Dead? Well, just because he claims it doesn't exactly make it a fact...

It’s a solid marriage, really... I mean, it makes you wonder how someone as dysfunctional as Warren Beatty can actually pull off a decent marriage like that...

Unless you actually know the guy personally, you really don't have a clue just how dysfunctional he truly is. You're basically just operating on an assumption that he’s broken—but honestly, looking at the facts... the evidence pretty much proves you wrong...

You really think he’s just gonna walk around flaunting his diagnosis? Please... people guard stuff like that like it's some state secret—they hide it away like a snake hides its tail...
So, I was thinking about those times when you just know something is off—you can feel it in your bones—but instead of actually calling a doctor, you just sit there staring at the ceiling, trying to diagnose yourself based on some random symptoms... It’s such a classic move, honestly. You start noticing these little glitches in how your body is running, maybe a weird ache here or a sudden dip in energy there, and you just try to power through it. It's like trying to fix a glitchy laptop by just hitting the spacebar harder... you know what I mean? You stay in that loop of wondering if it's just stress or something more serious, all while avoiding that inevitable trip to the clinic... It's a strange kind of mental game we play with ourselves...

Actors act like they’re somehow ashamed of their diagnoses, which is just weird... Honestly, from everything I've read about him, I haven't seen anything negative at all. You're just projecting by acting like the guy is some kind of sick puppy... 🤷

It’s not really about being promiscuous or cheating on your partner—it’s just about the sheer numbers... honestly...
Man, his is just... wow. Truly next level... 🤣

According to him, anyway. I mean, I definitely didn't see a line of twelve thousand women out there all confirming that...

Yeah, right... as if. 😂
Look, it’s not like he’s some kind of saint who isn't allowed to say "no"...
Look, at the end of the day, a guy has free will... he really does. These people were practically throwing themselves at him—offering him everything—and he took them up on it. He wasn't some victim caught off guard; he knew exactly what was happening and he went along with it, fully aware...

Aha. There you are. I’ve been waiting for you to show up... Look, a sick person is subject to the sickness, not their own free will. If someone is genuinely ill and can't control themselves—it's just like alcoholism. It's out of their hands. But if they did it by choice, fully aware of what was happening? Then they did it because they had the opportunity. Which is exactly what everyone else would do, honestly. Morality is, as I said before, a pretty hilarious concept...

Personality... that's really what we're here to talk about—diving into the actual characters of these Hollywood people...

From what I can tell, Warren Beatty seems like a decent enough guy—just a solid actor, not some total jerk, a straight 5 out of 10 in my book. That is, unless you count his own claim about picking up something like 12,000 women... though honestly, the personalities of people in Hollywood and their messy marriages is a whole other debate entirely.

there's no such thing as a bad profession, just bad artists.

I’ve been with 6,000 women. If I were a movie star, it would’ve been 12.☕

would you hang a painting on your wall if you knew the guy who painted it was a rapist who tortured a bunch of women?🤷

If he produced killer landscapes, then yeah, immediately—though I'm not much of a landscape guy myself. Does that mean you’d stop listening to Jerry Lee Lewis just because he was an incestuous creep who married his underage cousin?

I can't believe I'm even looking at this right now... seriously though, casualbadger92, you really went there, didn't you? It’s one thing to have an opinion, but laying it out like that—it’s almost impressive in its sheer audacity. I was sitting here, just minding my own business, and then I hit this post and felt like I needed a second to actually process everything you just said... it's quite a lot to take in, honestly.
What really gets under my skin is this one guy—someone whose behavior is just excessive, bordering on pathological, if you ask me... like he’s got a serious addiction or something. You look at the sheer number of women involved—we're talking 12,776 different partners here—and it speaks volumes. It’s honestly hard to take him seriously when he’s being held up as some kind of role model, someone who’s supposed to embody modesty or stability... especially when his whole life has been defined by giving in to every whim of the Hollywood elite...
And honestly, he’s being way too hard on him—it's excessive... maybe he isn't under investigation right now, but looking back at his track record, he definitely had his fair share of run-ins in the past... quite a bit, actually...

Look, Michael Douglas and David Duchovny ended up checking into some kind of sex addiction clinic—and then you’ve got Fox Mulder basically going public about cheating on his wife... meanwhile, Warren Beatty? He hasn't had a single scandal to his name. You get it, right? It clearly just bugs you that he was allegedly playing the field like crazy before he ever tied the knot... if that's even true...

Honestly, it would’ve been pretty weird if they hadn't hit that 12,000 mark by now... 🤷

My bad, I’m not even sure if you’re a guy or a girl here—but seriously, did you actually end up marrying the very first person you ever kissed? Because I definitely didn't. And honestly, let's be real for a second... that whole "12,000" figure is a massive stretch. If someone were talking about guys like Rocco Siffred or Ron Jeremy, maybe I'd buy it—since those two are still at it even today...

I feel like you don't quite grasp what the word promiscuity actually means...
When people talk about promiscuity, they aren't just talking about having a lot of sex—it’s more about that "indiscriminate" element, you know? It's that lack of a filter... just moving from one thing to the next without much thought or selectivity involved...

I get where you're coming from, seriously—don't even sweat it. What’s actually hilarious is how people act like Warren Beatty and Debra Winger are some gold standard for a perfect marriage after all these years... especially since he was out there playing the field well before they were even an item. It’s totally absurd. Plus, the guy doesn't even have a medical diagnosis like some other folks out there, which honestly makes things even more ridiculous...

I mean, if someone with 12,000 partners isn't a total fraud... then I honestly don't know who is... 🤷
So, saying someone’s been living off nothing but Bennett for the last twenty years... honestly, it’s kind of like saying...
Just because someone hasn't touched a drop in ten years doesn't mean they aren't an alcoholic... addiction is addiction, plain and simple.
The thing is... addiction isn't really something you "cure" once and for all—it’s more about just keeping it on a leash. You've gotta manage it, day by day. And honestly? It's the exact same deal with being promiscuous... it's just another thing you have to keep under control...

Look, I’m actually gonna ask you to drop some official stats here—like, give us the actual medical diagnosis showing that Warren Beatty is just too old to even keep his gear in his pants... then maybe we can actually have a real conversation about it. But seriously, like I said before, the guy hasn't cheated, he hasn't been caught hooking up with anyone in a car—not even himself—and there hasn't been a single scandal involving hookers or anything... nothing at all... 🤷 But then again, he’s really not exactly the best role model...

So, what are you actually trying to say here—that she assaulted him?...🤷 Because honestly, that would be the only possible way to justify those numbers if he wasn't just being totally promiscuous...

Nah, nah... you've got it backwards. You’re basically trying to say he was out there raping them. Look, everyone keeps throwing that infamous number—what, 12,000?—at him. But honestly? If those women weren't practically throwing themselves at him, he wouldn't have been hooking up with anyone in the first place. Plane and simple. I highly doubt he ever had to beg, pay for it, or even resort to blackmail or anything like that...

In psychiatry, all the rooms look exactly the same.

Well, actually... some face east, others face west. Sunrise, sunset, and all that...

...what does any of that even matter now? Some were chasing him, he was chasing some... the bottom line is he went along with it.
He probably had a whole bunch of women in that mix who were just getting false hope from him just so he could get them into bed. So, he’s not just promiscuous—he’s likely pretty manipulative too. That kind of thing isn't exactly rare with guys like him. Honestly, I'm more surprised he even ended up in this thread...

Long story short - you just don't like Betty 🤷 Personally and professionally, right?

When I mentioned earlier that the guy had twelve thousand women, you replied saying that fact makes him your idol.

And it does. He’s not some porn star, yet he had that many women. Guess I picked the wrong career path...

Of course not, but you aren't going to put him on a list of model citizens. Or are you?
Or because he filmed a few decent movies, we're supposed to just ignore the fact that he's a sex offender? 😕

I’ll still put him on my list of talented artists—even if I can't stand the guy—because the fact that he assaulted a girl doesn't change the fact that he made some good films, which really have nothing to do with who he likes to screw...

casualbadger92 said:Don't go judging others based on your own standards. No, really, nobody should... ☕

Oh, absolutely.

they're a whole different story.
we're talking about that old player Warren Beatty right now.
just because he's been riding shotgun with Annette Bening for twenty years doesn't suddenly turn him into some kind of saint.
or better yet, a candidate for this topic—like he’s some paragon of stability and composure, especially when you consider those 12,775 women... 🤷
once a player, always a player.
I wouldn't go talking about any "settling down" here. Maybe he just can't get it up anymore. Maybe Viagra stopped doing the trick. 🤷 Or maybe he picked up something nasty and decided to lay low. 🤷
Who knows... all we have is his history. And that speaks for itself. ☕

It's not their marriage that actually bothers you, it's the fact that forty years ago, Warren Beatty was basically woman-bait and slept with everything that moved. If a guy stays with one woman for 22 years, that actually says something. It's a wild theory, sure, but maybe he finally found the one who fits.

I don't get why you're trying to link those two things—acting talent and being a total slut. Like one affects the other, or like you have to be a degenerate to be a great actor. 🤷
I mean, look at Daniel Day-Lewis.

What do you mean, promiscuity? I'm saying the guy's been married for 22 years, and you're saying he was out there running wild before the wedding. You think someone didn't force those 12,000 women to sleep with him? 🤷

Maybe over in the sex addiction ward at the psych ward. ☕

Oh, please, that's already taken. Michael Douglas and David Duchovny have already claimed all the VIP suites.

honestly, there's nothing left in the tank once you've burned through it all 🤷

A bit of a tough sell... I mean, if Robert Redford is still turning heads, and Anthony Hopkins too, then why couldn't Warren Beatty have a little fun whenever he felt the urge?

but he isn't exactly alone in this. having a different woman every night—or multiple women in a single day—says quite a lot about someone's mental instability and deep-seated personal complexes. maybe he should've spent a little more time working on himself instead...

And what does that say about the women who climb into bed with a massive movie star? A smart career move?

so you're telling me a guy who basically just used his looks and fame to satisfy his basic urges with as many women as flies on a porch is actually someone you'd look up to?
🤷

Look, the guy has solid movies and great roles under his belt—he even crushed it with directing and screenwriting. In my book, that kind of intellect paired with good looks is a killer combo. Why shouldn't he be an icon? Or if we're just judging him by the fact that he slept with half of Hollywood... well, Dennis Hopper snorted his way through half of Hollywood, but that doesn't make him a junkie in everyone's eyes—we judge him by how he acted and directed. And Roman Polanski... man, even though the guy makes my skin crawl, I can't deny he put together some truly powerful films.

casualbadger92 said:Look, that’s all well and good, but it doesn't change the reality of what he was doing—he was basically a high-end gigolo back then, just taking every single opportunity that came his way...

I mean, the guy was huge... just straight up massive back in the day. 🤷 As if any of us wouldn't... Honestly, this whole "morality" thing—it always cracks me up...

I mean, who knows... maybe they’ve just got an open marriage going on... 🤷
People who live that fast-paced, casual lifestyle... they don't exactly find it easy to just flip a switch and walk away from it all... it's hardwired into them at this point...

If they wanted to throw around some Roman-style orgies mixed with those wild German swinger parties, honestly, who even cares? I haven't seen a single thing about it in the papers—not one scandal... Don Johnson and M. Griffith, on the other hand...

If you're asking me... the total opposite of Warren Beatty would be... 🤣

So, what are we even supposed to be talking about here? Some absolute nobodies who married their high school sweethearts, have maybe two credits to their names—one of which was probably just being an extra in a crowd scene in Forrest Gump—and managed to stay married? Please. Warren Beatty is just a regular guy, honestly. He was huge, sure, and he definitely played the game while he could, but at the end of the day, he’s been with his wife for over twenty years now. No massive scandals, no getting dragged through the mud by the tabloids, nothing blowing up on social media... just a guy living his life...

So, basically... he had like 12,775 different partners before finally settling things down with just one—his wife, Annette Bening. 😂

I mean, if you ask me, that’s when he finally figured out the whole game with women. Honestly, seeing that number... it kind of makes him my hero...

Liam Neeson has basically become the go-to guy for modern action movies lately—it’s kind of his thing now. Honestly, the fact that he’s a seasoned vet doesn't stop him from going toe-to-toe with anyone, whether it's terrorists trying to bring down commercial jets or some gritty mobsters looking for payback after he tore through half of Paris... or whatever city they're wrecking this time. Anyway, old Liam is still going full throttle. This time, it’s nothing too wild or out there; it’s more of a solid, old-school crime flick. He plays Matthew Scudder, an ex-cop, ex-alcoholic, and just a guy who made a messy mistake by accidentally shooting a bystander once. He spends his days hitting up AA meetings and his nights taking on occasional private investigator gigs for shady clients. One of those clients hires him to track down his wife, who’s been kidnapped and is probably already dead... if we're being real. Before anyone says he's just recycling the same formula, the whole concept actually comes from literature—this is an adaptation of the novel by Lawrence Bloch. There's a whole series of Scudder books out there (I think a few have even hit the shelves here in the States), so if the movie hits, Neeson’s gonna have plenty of work lined up. Might be worth noting that this isn't the first time this character has been on screen; Jeff Bridges played him before in a slightly disjointed but pretty decent noir called 8 Million Ways to Die. It’s dropping in October.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014) in Movies ·
Pretty mediocre flick. Honestly, Chris Pine playing Ryan just doesn't work—he lacks that specific grit you need for a role like this, even if he looks alright enough during the action sequences. The plot actually had some legs at first—that whole bit about triggering a crisis through a financial monopoly was pretty intriguing—but then it just devolved into the usual nonsense: another terrorist, another bomb, and another heroic rescue mission... total cliché. Keira Knightley felt completely wasted here, too; her character was just incredibly grating, almost like some obsessive stalker who wouldn't give Ryan any breathing room. I guess the only saving grace for me was old Kevin Costner, but only because he didn't seem to be trying all that hard to be serious... Kenneth Branagh passing on Thor: The Dark World for this seems like a questionable call, especially since his part in this is such a tired trope. As for the box office, it’s pretty obvious that even Americans weren't exactly blowing this out of the water.

Karen Cook7 said:The main issue is the whole premise—Pompeii (turns out people aren't big fans of tragic romances). It’s kind of ridiculous to try and pull off a love story set in that tiny window between a guy becoming a gladiator and everything blowing up—love at first sight followed by sudden death within a day or two, maybe a week tops. The opening sequence showing how the lead ends up a gladiator is pretty pointless. And that whole subplot where the general is obsessed with the lead actress? Totally forced. The entire plot is just one cliché after another without any actual logic...

Titanic? 🤷

It’s basically a love story with a pretty grim ending... talk about instant attraction—love at first sight happens in just four days between the high society types and the commoners. It’s that exact same dynamic you see between Cal and Rosa. Honestly, Pompeii is just a total carbon copy of the Titanic concept, only you add an actual, literal catastrophe to the mix...

Sometimes I catch myself wondering... when I'm reading through your comments—and those from other self-proclaimed "experts" around here—if everyone is just losing their sense of taste and standards altogether...

Anderson is one of those "good enough" directors who can actually pull off a decent flick when he wants to—I mean, look at *Soldier-Event Horizon*... that was solid. So why wouldn't I dig this? It’s pure, mindless popcorn entertainment, and honestly, it kept me entertained. This whole wave of snobbery is really starting to grate on my nerves—are people here just losing their sense of taste and basic criteria altogether? And yet, everyone's already rushing out to see it...

Predictable acting, a totally cliché script where you pretty much know the ending before the opening credits even finish rolling—just the same dumb plot we've seen a hundred times before. Honestly, everything was just so predictable and incredibly boring... It’s one of those loud, overproduced movies that seems to think the audience is brain-dead, assuming we'll all just fall into a trance because of some flashy costumes and mediocre CGI disasters. In reality, it was so tedious I couldn't even make it past the first 15 minutes. I ended up fast-forwarding through the rest just to preserve my own mental health... Thank God I didn't go to the theater for this one; I definitely wouldn't be regretting wasting money on a ticket.

The movie is called Pompeii. I mean, what exactly did you think was going to happen? That Kirk and Spock were gonna roll up in the Enterprise and just stop the eruption... right? 🤷 Yeah, yeah, yeah... fifteen minutes tops... I don't really buy it though, because obviously, you know the details of the movie way better than I do...

After 2006, it’s game over. She just doesn't get those kinds of roles anymore.

What A-lister? I mean, Bridget Jones is just another rom-com—and there are plenty of those out there—so *Cold Mountain* is really the only thing in her filmography that actually feels serious. Hartnett’s done some heavier stuff too, but their careers are pretty much neck and neck at this point. His role choices have always been a bit weird, honestly... while she just kind of got phased out by the next wave of stars.
