Instrument sterilization protocols?! in Health ·
Justin Fox said:When you get into the specifics of the exam tables and the speculums, things change a bit. They really ought to be laying down fresh paper for every single patient and using a new speculum—unless they're those metal ones, in which case they should be running them through an autoclave at the end of the day. I’ve heard stories about how careless people can be with the equipment, too; apparently, some providers just wipe a speculum down and reuse it on multiple patients without actually properly disinfecting it. Honestly, it's just lazy and unprofessional.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was getting at...👎

Look, I posted this because I thought it was worth discussing, even if some people think I’m being an idiot, but here's my question:
I’ve seen way too many gynecologists looking absolutely overwhelmed, with patients just streaming in
one after another...
It's pretty obvious that whatever nurse is stuck washing and disinfecting all that equipment must have six arms

I decided to drop this topic in the health section because I didn't
really intend to link it to gynecology, but if the mods feel otherwise
...

Anyway, after hearing all these horror stories and personal experiences (mostly about illnesses and infections
picked up right on the gynecologist's exam table), I started
wondering how and when these doctors actually sterilize and "clean" the instruments
they use on their patients?!

Why am I asking? A few years back, I was dealing with some health issues and
had to go in for some testing, so I went to see a doctor covered by Medicare.
While I was waiting for him to call my name and write everything down, I took a quick glance at the schedule and noticed
he had me booked for 7:00 PM—even though he starts at 8:00 AM and there were at least 30 women ahead of me in line.
I honestly felt a bit sick to my stomach just thinking about what all those women were coming in with and how easily we could
infect one another if hygiene standards in the office are being neglected...

So, I'm genuinely curious, and if anyone here actually works in the medical field, let me know...👍

Glucosamine sulfate just isn't doing the trick
and honestly, neither is my doctor 😉

That’s not a colposcopy; if I had to guess, it sounds more like a biopsy.
A colposcopy is basically just coating the vaginal walls and taking a look inside.
They use a microscope, or some kind of specialized tool, to check for any...
...unusual changes.
A biopsy involves actually taking small tissue samples (and by the way, they usually do that under local anesthesia).
My advice? Go back to that doctor and tell him to shove it for not explaining the procedure properly before slapping you with anesthesia.
Look, I’m just going to give you some straight-up common sense advice: stop doing this RIGHT NOW.
You aren't going to drop dead instantly, but sticking with this could seriously mess you up in ways you aren't prepared for.
Just call the local ER or an on-call doctor and get some actual professional guidance.
lol, I’m just allergic to penicillin, so I don't touch
those kinds of antibiotics

Colposcopy? And it's supposed to be that painful?!
I usually see Dr. LJubojevica (he's an HPV specialist over at the Ginoderma private clinic)
I actually had my colposcopy there just two months ago and honestly, I didn't feel a single thing.
Pain? No way—it was just that weird sensation of being coated on the inside.🙂
Even when he does my Pap smear, I barely notice it. The guy is seriously fantastic!!!

So, what actually happened once the diagnosis came in?
Quick digestion tips? in Health ·
I’m jumping in here with the rest of you folks facing this "issue"🙂
Personally, it doesn't really bother me—I can eat a massive meal and it won't even stick
because everything just moves right through me the same day, haha
I’m mostly thinking about major surgeries here
A standard checkup wouldn't kill me. I guess 🙂
jadesailor14 said:Look, I'll say it: I have nothing but genuine respect for doctors. I truly value the work they do.
Look, I’m not one to judge. I have a massive amount of respect for what anyone does for a living, even if their daily grind is just scrubbing grease off motorcycle engines. Every job counts. I don't even know where to start with this one. Honestly, I’m just sitting here staring at my screen, trying to make sense of the absolute chaos unfolding, and it feels like I'm shouting into a void. It’s one of those days where everything feels slightly off, you know? Like when you wake up and realize you missed your alarm by twenty minutes, and suddenly the entire trajectory of your morning—and maybe your whole week—is just shot. Anyway, I was thinking about that conversation we had earlier, and part of me wants to just bite back and say I told you so, but I'll spare you the lecture. Mostly because I'm probably wrong anyway, or at least half-wrong, which is usually my specialty. There's just so much noise lately, so many people shouting opinions they haven't even thought through, and it's exhausting. I try to stay measured, I really do, but sometimes the sheer lack of logic in certain circles makes me want to just throw my laptop out the window and go live in a cabin in Montana. But I digress. That’s what I do. I get sidetracked. So, yeah. Just venting, I guess. Back to reality. It actually gets the job done. No fluff, just works.
Look, let’s be real for a second—it doesn't matter what industry you're in or how much money a company makes, there's always going to be that one person who just refuses to pull their weight. It’s an unfortunate constant in every single job out there. You can have the best management in the world, but you'll still run into someone who treats their responsibilities like they're optional. It’s frustrating, honestly, but I guess that's just part of the deal.
It only takes one bad actor to drag down the hard work and integrity of a thousand honest people. It’s frustrating, honestly. You can have an entire community doing everything by the book, building something real, and then one person comes along, acts like a complete jerk, and suddenly everyone is under suspicion. It's a total drain on everyone else's energy.
Look, I’m not exactly built for direct confrontation. I don't have it in me to just walk up to someone and shut them down face-to-face. But if you want to talk about my actual job? I can be incredibly effective at making someone's life a living hell through sheer incompetence. I won't kill their career outright, but I can mess things up so thoroughly that they'll eventually look at a rope and a sturdy tree branch as their only way out.
I honestly feel like we need to start talking about accountability across the board. It shouldn't just be doctors who get dragged through the mud when they mess up. If you’re getting paid to do a job—any job—and you fail miserably due to sheer negligence, there ought to be consequences. Why is the scrutiny always focused on one profession? Whether it's a surgeon or someone running a massive corporation like ExxonMobil, incompetence shouldn't be given a free pass. We need to stop acting like certain types of failure are more "acceptable" than others. It's frustrating, really.

Look, let me say this again just so we're clear: if a doctor comes down with some infectious disease that puts their patients at risk, I think it's pretty straightforward—they shouldn't be anywhere near a clinic. It’s common sense, really. You can't have someone walking around a hospital when they're actively a threat to the people they're supposed to be treating. It's just basic safety. It’s just a matter of ethics, really. Or at least, that's how I see it. i Fair enough. So, he basically lays it all out there and tells the patient, "Look, you get to decide if you even want to undergo treatment with me." It’s a pretty blunt way to put it, honestly.

Look, I’m not one to sit in judgment of anyone. At the end of the day, how a person chooses to live their life is entirely their own business.
You can go as long as you want, really—just don't start stepping on anyone else's toes without getting their explicit okay first.

I have to agree.
Look, I’m all for equality—seriously, I am against discrimination with everything I've got—but for God's sake, you can't just fake your way through life and expect everyone to play along.
It’s like some kind of incurable, terminal disease—this constant need to pick at other people and expose them just for the hell of it. Honestly, it’s exhausting to watch.
I honestly feel like she’s going to catch whatever he's got. Not even being dramatic here—I'm pretty sure she'd just end up strangling him with her bare hands.
With my hands (even though I’m not exactly the most feminine woman you'll meet). 🙂 So, I just found out that I actually bought it from him.
What an absolute jerk. Honestly, if he tried to give me a sore throat, I’d hate his guts, but giving someone the flu? That’s just low.
Look, I’m a layman when it comes to medical stuff—definitely not an expert by any stretch—but it honestly drives me up the wall seeing how everyone immediately jumps to the defense of these "poor souls." It’s exhausting.
There’s this whole argument about "sick people who just refuse to step away from their jobs," and honestly, everyone seems to be ignoring one massive point: it is my PERSONAL RIGHT to know whether I'm putting my trust in someone who is actually healthy.
Should I stick with my current doctor, or just find someone else—someone where I don't have to spend every single appointment constantly worrying if they’re actually going to protect my health and my life?
Look, you can come for my head if you want, but that’s just how I see things. Take it or leave it.

Peterson Hospital in Health ·
I’ve been hearing quite a few negative comments lately,
so I don't want to just go around talking nonsense without context. My mom
actually nearly died giving birth to me,
because they insisted on a natural vaginal delivery.
(That would be me, by the way, 🙂) and my umbilical cord ended up wrapped
twice around my neck. Honestly, I’m surprised I turned out even remotely sane 😉
and then, to top it all off, she caught sepsis at the end and almost passed away.
She left the hospital looking like a literal skeleton, but hey, she survived everything.
Meanwhile, when she had my brother, everything went perfectly fine.
But then again, that was about 20 years ago...
B vitamins don't actually make you gain fat, they just tend to kick your appetite into overdrive
from what I’ve gathered, it’s a common recommendation for athletes who are
trying to bulk up
Forget the pills; you've got to eat a diverse, healthy diet
(get some veggies, grains, lean poultry, fish, whatever else
) if you want to actually stay healthy. Personally, I've been drinking noni juice
every single day for about a month now, combined with this kind of eating plan and some moderate exercise
and honestly, I feel fantastic.
(I finally bounced back from those nasty bugs that wiped me out mid-fall
when my immune system was basically non-existent)

Jamie Newman4, I’m with you 100% on this.
I actually made the switch over to private practice myself not too long ago.
I’ve been seeing Dr. Ljubejovic lately—and yeah, I’ve already given him a glowing review.
The guy is just solid. He doesn't waste your time with useless chatter, his rates are
totally reasonable, and he really knows his stuff.
For instance, he charged me $50
for my exam and colposcopy. Honestly, for me, that was pocket change.

No intimacy until you've worked off that extra energy.
Also, honestly, a second opinion wouldn't hurt at all here.
Look, doctors aren't infallible gods walking among us.
