Rachel Young3 said:Sorry for starting a new thread, but I just finished watching this movie and I am honestly blown away. Everything from the soundtrack to the characters (especially Charlotte 😍 ) I really don't get the disappointment. They seriously need to bring back 2D animation... it’s a hundred times better and looks so much more beautiful
I'm with you on that. Traditional animation has a certain magic to it—it's a shame everyone seems obsessed with CGI these days.

Most of the jokes are super predictable, which just gets old fast. Atkinson is great—seriously, he's the only reason to watch—but I really think they should've put more work into the humor. It swings from being cute and actually funny to just being totally expected and repetitive.
If anyone wants my full breakdown, go check it out. All in all, it's just mediocre entertainment that you'll forget by tomorrow.
The jokes are mindless and we've seen them a hundred times already. He plays golf and hits someone in the head, he steps on a board and hits a guy in the groin... You don't need much brainpower to write a script like that.
Let’s shake things up here since the new Transformers are hitting theaters soon. Has anyone actually changed their mind about Michael Bay? Is he a hack in your eyes, or is he one of the best at what he does—directing those massive, high-budget spectacles designed purely to rake in cash while you leave your brain at the door?

Anyway, since I actually helped put together Variety Issue 3—I wrote one article and a review, I guess—if anyone happens to have questions, or maybe some suggestions, or even just critiques of the critiques or whatever, feel free to drop them here. I'll try my best to give you the inside scoop 😉
What's the release schedule look like? When is the next issue slated to drop?
I stopped by yesterday and it was alright. I picked up the magazine, though I only flipped through it briefly—it looks solid. Overall, I recommend it and I'm all for events like this happening here in the States.
I think I’ll make it to the launch—assuming nothing pops up at the last minute—and the magazine looks decent enough that I'm planning on picking up a copy.

Why would it be? That’s strictly an American thing. We don't have some central regulatory body classifying films—that's really just the Americans and Britons handling it. Does anyone actually know how it works over in the States? Like, does the cashier at the theater actually demand ID from kids when they buy tickets?

Are we talking actual commercials, or just endless movie trailers?

If they want to show high-quality 3D, they should stick to the properly made stuff—like those dance movies that actually work. The 3D in Pirates is absolute garbage—it’s practically a scam. At the very least, they should drop the price and admit the 3D quality is subpar.😠
This review claims the 3D in Pirates is actually pretty decent.
