hasselbaink said:So you work for some kind of water manufacturer or something?

Yeah, I'm basically on the payroll at American Water... 😁

Just kidding, but honestly, looking at what’s being posted here, it seems like whenever any health info comes up, people just start questioning who benefits from it instead of actually looking at the data itself and figuring out how to use it to improve their own lives. This whole forum is about "health," so maybe we should just treat it that way, I guess. 😉 🙂

hasselbaink said:I don't drink enough fluids, I'm hardly ever thirsty.
Except during the night, I always have something to drink while I sleep.

Drinking "something" and drinking actual water are two totally different things, man. Water flushes your system out from the inside just like showering or washing your face cleans you on the outside... I mean, just imagine trying to take a shower or wash up using nothing but Coca-Cola or some thick juice.. 😁

ps: Morning to jadesailor14 and Jose Miller3, who always seem to show up just to derail every thread where someone is actually saying something smart or useful... 👋
If you want to stop feeling like you're melting, you basically have to drink way more often than you think, even if you aren't actually thirsty. During those brutal American summers, you really shouldn't be dipping below two liters of fluid a day. I’d suggest grabbing some mineral water that’s got at least 500 mg of salt per liter to keep things balanced. Also, maybe steer clear of alcohol because it totally messes with how your body regulates its own temperature. Plus, your system burns through alcohol pretty fast—like, one gram equals seven calories—so that just ends up heating you up even more.

And that’s not even the whole story. Once the thermometer hits 90 degrees, you really ought to avoid sugary drinks too. To process just a single gram of sugar, your metabolism needs about four grams of water to keep up. So, yeah, just forget the sodas and the booze... honestly, water is your best bet. But don't just grab any random bottle; try to find some natural still mineral water, since all that carbon dioxide in sparkling water can kind of numb your taste buds and actually makes you feel thirstier.

James Newman4 said:Wait, you mean flaxseeds?
my sister basically lives on those instead of peanuts

Yeah, I mean as long as she keeps it up while staying healthy... 😉

LINUM USITATISSIMUM, Linaceae - FLAX

People have been using flaxseed since around 5000 B.C. way back in Mesopotamia. It's mostly grown to get that oil out of it. That oil is packed with omega-3 fatty acids—you know, alpha-linolenic acid and EPA—which basically turn into these hormone-like substances that handle all sorts of important biological stuff in your body. Plus, it's got tocopherol, which acts as an antioxidant.
Flax is also one of the best sources of lignans, which have this estrogen-like effect. Overall, the whole mix helps ease those neurovegetative symptoms you get during menopause, lowers cholesterol levels, and can even help prevent atherosclerosis.

You aren't actually contradicting anything I just said—I specifically mentioned we’re overdosing on Omega-6, but you’re out here acting like "they contain Omega-6, so we're getting enough of that essential fatty acid." Honestly, it's not that we're getting enough Omega-6, it's more like we're consuming way too much of it.

Yeah, okay, you got me there. My bad, I guess I totally missed the part where you used the word "overdosing"... 😉 👍

dustycanyon6 said:My bad, I totally misread you—yeah, I think those ads look pretty great too.

Anyway, did you guys see that Omegol stuff? I mean, even a toddler probably knows that most of us (maybe except for Dalmatians) are basically drowning in Omega-6 fatty acids. On the Omegol website, it claims to have a "balanced ratio of Omega-3 and Omega-6," but if you actually bother to check the ingredients, there’s like seven times more Omega-6 than Omega-3! Now, I don't know if I just missed something or if these people are actually pulling this kind of crap trying to market it as health food...

I think you got your 3s and 6s mixed up a little bit.. 😉

Basically, all the oils we use in cooking are plant-based (usually soybean or canola), which means they're loaded with Omega-6, so we're getting plenty of that essential fatty acid.

The main way to get Omega-3 is through certain types of fish and seafood, which aren't really staples in a typical diet. It mostly comes down to high-quality fish being expensive, the extra prep work involved, or honestly, people just preferring the taste of meat or cheese. If you want to get enough Omega-3, you'd pretty much need to eat fatty fish or shellfish at least three times a week. In Japan, every mom and pregnant woman takes Omega-3.

ps: I haven't actually seen this "Omegol" thing yet, so I'm curious, what kind of ratio are you talking about?

it takes patience and some actual time

Yeah, right, try explaining that to someone in plain English—because apparently, they need "patience and time" for that too. 😉 😁

The whole thing is that people who’ve been accumulating junk inside their bodies for 10 or 20 years don't exactly have the luxury of sitting around waiting for things to "fix themselves eventually"... everyone wants a solution "overnight," I guess. 😉

There actually is a way to flip the script on this within a 90-day window, but it isn't through your typical "grandma's old-school recipe" diet... it's more about using "cellular nutrition." 🙂 👍

silentbison42 said:That all sounds lovely and all, but nowhere does it actually say how much purified fish oil is even in there, which is kind of the whole point, isn't it?🙄

I mean, I personally just trust the scientific team behind this stuff, so I don't really see a reason to go doubting their quality or the ratios they use. I'm pretty sure they know way more than we do—better than you, better than me, and definitely better than most people out there—so I don't really waste my energy stressing over it too much.

Plus, I know for a fact that they started making this product at Herbalife back in the old days of 1984, when most people hadn't even heard of this stuff, let alone understood how it affects health. There was even a lawsuit filed by certain circles in the pharmaceutical industry in a US court because they claimed it was "spreading misinformation" by saying Omega-3 is good for you. To make matters worse, the court actually hit Herbalife with a $750,000 fine back then. (And honestly, nowadays, even a kid could tell that what they were saying was true.) 😲

Look, this isn't some sales pitch; these are just facts based on about 20 years of perfecting those ratios and leaning on the smartest minds in the field.

At the end of the day, everyone just picks whatever they think is best and makes their own call based on the info they have... 🙂

silentbison42 said:I'm really looking for some decent Omega-3. I can't seem to find any fish oil that's actually 60% pure, so right now I'm just taking three capsules of this 30% stuff... does anyone actually know where to find the good stuff???

Honestly, my go-to is definitely the Herbalife line!!!

For people who only manage to eat fish once a week—or maybe don't eat it at all because they're too busy to deal with the prep work—the Herbalife line gives you Omega-3 in these tiny little capsules that are super easy to swallow.

I think most of us still have those memories of having to choke down a giant spoonful of fish oil every single day when we were kids just for "health." And man, I still remember how absolutely gross that tasted.

But the new Herbalife formula has this "anti-reflux" thing going on, which pretty much kills that nasty fishy aftertaste you get while taking it or later during digestion. They did it by adding essential oils like thyme, peppermint, and clove. Plus, the new formula actually packs about 42% more Omega-3 than before!

Megan Brooks11 said:I’m with you on this... I tried that Herbalife stuff myself... I mean, I only stuck with it for about a month, but honestly, it works, and more importantly, it actually does something for your health... I’m talking about wellness here, not just trying to drop a few pounds.

My old man used it for like six months straight and he doesn't deal with those throat infections anymore, and I think his vision even cleared up a bit, I guess.👍

I’m kind of leaning towards what MacGregor said too,
Personally, I've had some really great experiences with it, and I honestly feel like it's such a shame there aren't more people (around here on the forum) using cell nutrition who actually want to share their stories and show what they've achieved... 🙂

It seems like we’re just stuck with all these prejudices and stereotypes because of the way those aggressive distributors try to grab everyone's attention, acting like there's this one simple trick to fix or restore your health... and unfortunately, it feels like people here talk more about the person peddling the product than the actual message being delivered, which I guess is just a sign of how shallow everything has become... 😢

Plus, a lot of folks just pigeonhole Herbalife as some "diet pill" thing because of that annoying "want to lose weight easy? just ask me" vibe that distributors carry around... but they act like that because obesity is basically a global epidemic now, and even here in the States, over 50% of people are overweight, and we all know where that road leads—straight into a bunch of other health issues.

image

Nutrition in zone is definitely the way to go, and it's a solid way for people to finally realize that eating right can actually overhaul your health, but I guess in reality, most people find it pretty tough to pull off since it takes so much time and effort. What a lot of people don't seem to grasp, though—and it's kind of sad—is that most food nowadays doesn't even come close to having the nutrient density it had 10 or 20 years ago, so you can't even be sure if you're getting the vital stuff your body actually needs. (With Herbalife, you get a lot more peace of mind regarding that quality) .. 🙂

At the end of the day, combining nutrition in zone with cell nutrition is pretty much the perfect setup, and it's something I'd recommend from the bottom of my heart... 🙂 👍

Frank Alvarez8 said:Geez, are you seriously accusing James Newman4 of trying to run some kind of shady sales pitch on the Forum??? I mean, I don't know, maybe he is, or maybe you're just seeing things, but honestly, that seems like a bit of a reach if you ask me. He’s just hanging out like everyone else, though I guess people always jump to conclusions these days, right?

Look, this isn't about some sales pitch or pushing products on people, okay? It’s actually about putting together a legit, individualized plan and program tailored specifically to his body composition and whatever analysis he gets done. You have to approach it with way more seriousness than just buying stuff and selling stuff... which I guess is what a lot of people don't get. They end up just grabbing whatever they find on their own from someone who doesn't actually know what they're talking about—someone whose only goal is moving inventory rather than actually getting results. I was honestly just curious about what he picked and where he ordered it from, just so I could see if he's even headed in the right direction. 🙂

Hey, nimbleskipper13, I probably should've said hey to Mac if that's what you're actually moping about, but honestly, you really need to quit playing Sherlock Holmes because, I don't know, it’s just not really your vibe... 🙂

First off, you really need to figure out what your actual goal is here—are we talking about putting on 15 pounds of just mass, or 15 pounds of pure muscle? 😕

A huge mistake I see people making all the time is just bulking up indiscriminately, gaining a bunch of fat along with the weight, and then thinking they can somehow "turn" that extra mass into muscle later. It’s honestly double the work and doesn't make any sense if you think about it. I've got plenty of buddies who didn't realize that until way too late. 😉 😁

If you’re looking to pack on 15 pounds of lean muscle, you're going to need to bump up your protein intake. Plus, since you're doing something as intense as MMA, you definitely need a decent amount of... well, smart carbs, just so you actually have the energy and stamina to keep going.

As someone who lives this stuff, I’d honestly suggest looking into Herbalife's "cellular nutrition." I've met tons of athletes who tried everything under the sun, but in the end, they all admitted they felt the biggest difference once they switched to Herbalife's approach. Even Natasha Vezmar, who does taekwondo, started using it recently.

Since you're into combat sports, here’s an actual testimonial for you to look over:

"My name is Senad Osterman, I'm 35, and I work as a kinesiology specialist. My whole life has been active sports and professional coaching. I coach the American National Muay Thai Team and serve as an external consultant for the kinesiology department at the University of Los Angeles. I've been in sports since I was seven. I've never had issues managing my weight or any health problems. To be honest, I first looked into Herbalife for financial reasons. But since I've used supplements alongside a regular diet my entire life, I know how important they are. At first, I was skeptical about the ingredients and quality offered by Herbalife. On the surface, it didn't look like anything new or revolutionary. The only way to truly know was to try it myself. And pretty quickly, I noticed some real results:
- better sleep quality
- faster recovery after training
- steady energy levels throughout the day
- better endurance during workouts
- perfect digestion
- a general sense of well-being

Herbalife kind of changes your lifestyle. You end up feeling happier, and that trickles down to how you interact with everyone else. It feels like a 'full circle' experience, something similar to what I've read about in old Eastern philosophy books. Nowadays, my whole family uses Herbalife.
My athletic achievements:
- Junior Champion Los Angeles - Track and Field, 100m
- Junior National Team Member for Karate - 80kg
- Vice Champion in Kickboxing - 81kg
- American Champion in Muay Thai - 81kg
- Netherlands Champion in Muay Thai - 81kg
- 3rd place at the Judo International Tournament in Italy - 86kg
- November 6, 2004 - Professional European Champion in Muay Thai at WAKO Pro 78.2 kg
In 2005, I'm starting a new challenge: triathlon. The circle is complete."

That's just one athlete out of many who felt the difference, and there are plenty of other testimonials out there if you want to read them:

http://www.nrg-fit.com/sportski_rezultati.asp

The nutritionist for the USA Olympic Team and a consultant for the National Basketball Association and other pro leagues, Heather Livingston, was actually in Los Angeles recently and gave this incredibly interesting lecture on sports nutrition (including Herbalife's "cellular nutrition"). If you want to dig deeper into that, just shoot me a private message. Here's a bit more info about her:

American women are getting sexier in Health ·
Look, I don't have a problem with anyone personally, I just can't stand people who try to tear down any opinion that doesn't perfectly align with their own.

I've been hanging around here long enough to dig through the old threads, and I've noticed all the back-and-forth with MacGregor—including yours and a few others too. Since I actually know my stuff regarding what he was talking about here, I tried to step in and lay out the facts in a pretty decent, civilized way, maybe offering a different perspective or some extra context, you know? But then I ended up getting jumped on just like he did, and I guess it’s only natural that after a while, you start reacting, which eventually leads to this kind of conversation.... 😢

If that little "joke" you threw in there was supposed to be your actual opinion, then honestly, my bad. 🙂

The reaction to your "joke" is partly due to other things going on too, and if I hurt your feelings, I'm sorry (again), but if the whole point here is just to mess with people, believe me, I'm a total pro at that (if I really get going), but I don't see the point in it, so I figure it's probably not worth the effort.. 😉
