Medical diagnoses in Latin? in Health ·
Honestly, I’m just like everyone else here, obsessively reading through all the instruction manuals for every single tablet, whether they came with my own device or were just sitting around the house...😁

Oh yeah, you know, I totally blanked on the tea thing, but I had no idea rosehip was actually good for that! Honestly, I’ve just been sticking to that Indian blend

As far as chocolate goes, I’m pretty sure it’s only the baking kind that actually does the trick—I wouldn't dream of messing around with any of the other varieties.
Coca-Cola? Now that just sounds a little bit off to me.

And my mom was actually telling me tonight that I should try it with bananas too... though I haven't quite gotten around to testing that out yet.

So, I’m sitting here dealing with some pretty annoying stomach issues from dinner tonight, 😢 which actually got me thinking...
What do you guys usually turn to when you get a sudden bout of diarrhea? Growing up, my mom always had two go-to remedies—either a little bit of dark chocolate or a grated apple that had been sitting out just long enough to turn a bit brown. I usually lean toward the apple thing... but honestly, I don't quite grasp the science behind why it works. Even now, less than half an hour after trying it, I can already feel things settling down.
Does anyone else have their own little trick or remedy?
About a year and a half ago, I found out the hard way that I’m actually allergic to Sinersul.
Mine was a pretty intense reaction, too—I broke out in a rash all over my body. I stopped taking it that very same day and went straight to see my doctor.
From what I’ve heard, plenty of people have issues with Sinersul, so if you ask me, you should probably check in with a medical professional. It’s just not worth playing games with your health.

Hmm, honestly, I don’t even know if my local CVS even carries one of those green bins...😕
(well, you know how it is in a small town like this...)

I’ve always had this weird aversion to all those vitamins and minerals you see everywhere... I can't quite put my finger on why. If anything, maybe during cold and flu season, I'll grab a fizzy multivitamin or some Vitamin C at the drugstore.

Oh, and I also keep some NeoAngin on hand for when my throat starts acting up.

So, I was doing a bit of deep cleaning around the house the other day—you know, that satisfying feeling when you finally tackle the junk drawers—and I ended up going through my medicine cabinet. It got me thinking: what should actually be in a standard home first-aid kit?
What’s sitting in your cabinets right now, and how often are you actually reaching for them? I know some people have these massive stashes of random pills and creams they grab whenever they feel a sniffle coming on, but honestly, having too much of the wrong stuff can actually cause more trouble than it's worth.

Here is what I’ve got on hand (and I have to admit, I’m mostly "responsible" for this collection because my mom still treats me like a kid sometimes... 😉): I have plain Aspirin and the effervescent kind, Tylenol, and some generic acetaminophen—I usually prefer the capsules over the tablets, they just seem to work better for me. I also have Bayer and some multi-symptom cold meds like Virolex, and I think that’s pretty much the lot. As for cough syrups or expectorants, I just pick those up as needed depending on how bad things get.
Help! Do I have mono? in Health ·
I didn't even deal with a headache, a fever, or a sore throat—nothing like that. It was just swollen lymph nodes (and my liver was acting up, too). Honestly, I wouldn't have even known anything was wrong if I hadn't gone in for blood work... which is exactly why you should just go see a doctor instead.
Co-pays and out-of-pocket costs in Health ·
I’ll be honest, I haven't quite wrapped my head around all these recent healthcare shifts, but there's one thing that's really tripping me up.
So, they've rolled out these new fees, capped at $10 per month. Does that mean they're basically replacing our old co-pays? Or is it something else entirely?
And what about those of us who rely on those specific exemption cards to waive the co-pay? I caught a snippet of conversation suggesting those cards might not even be relevant to this new system anymore—that they still hold value for something else, perhaps... though I couldn't quite catch the details.
Now everything just feels like a giant blur of confusion...

🤔
Any clarity would be appreciated!
Emergency: My friend is pregnant in Health ·
On this thread, everyone seems to be piling on the anti-abortion crowd, acting like every girl should just go ahead and give birth, raise the kid, and live happily ever after—like everything will just magically fall into place. Even though the guy involved might not even want to hear the word mentioned.
Then, you turn around and see a discussion about single moms, and suddenly there's a whole spectrum of opinions flying around, ranging from supportive to people claiming a relationship with someone who already has a kid is doomed from the start.
I mean, look, a girl has her baby, her parents step in to help, they figure things out, but obviously, she needs a life partner eventually (since her parents won't be there to hold her hand forever). And then you run into men full of all these prejudices—I’ve heard them say stuff like, "Why would I raise someone else's kid? I'd rather find someone to have my own with..." And how is she supposed to find happiness if her child becomes an obstacle to finding love?

And I'm not just talking hypothetically here. My best friend had her baby back in high school. She finished school, went through college... she has a wonderful son, truly sweet and smart. Luckily, his dad steps up too. But for a long time when they weren't together, it was incredibly hard for her to find anyone who wouldn't see the little guy as a burden.
As much as she loves that boy, it's been tough on her. Her family helps out, but they can't do everything for her. She found out she was pregnant when it was already too late to make a different choice, but in our private talks, she admits she probably would have gone that route... just so she could keep living like a normal teenager.

It’s so easy to sit back and pass judgment or play philosopher when you aren't the one standing in the middle of the storm. When I think back to how overwhelming those periods of life can be—all those heavy decisions, the tears, the pure struggle... honestly, when you're actually in the thick of it, all those polished opinions you used to hold are put to the ultimate test.
That's why I believe everyone has to make their own call, regardless of all the noise and advice from others. At the end of the day, that person is the one who has to live with that decision for the rest of their life.

Even if we're talking about standard glass, you won't find anything under $333.😉

???
What kind of logic is that?
I mean, mine weren't nearly that pricey—if I recall correctly, they were practically a gift from 😁.

Thanks so much for all the input, everyone.
Honestly, I don't really care if they're some big-name designer brand or whatever; at the end of the day, my main priority is just not having to squint every time I'm behind the wheel...
Oh, I totally forgot to mention—I usually pick them up locally here in Chicago.
I think I'll head out next week to do a little more digging and see what's out there.

I’ve been weighing the idea of picking up some new sunglasses lately. Since I already rely on prescription lenses for everything else, I was thinking about getting a pair of prescription sunnies—you know, something practical so I can actually see clearly while driving through the glare.

So, does anyone here have any firsthand experience with this? Is it actually a smart move, or am I just overthinking it? Also, if you have any tips on where to find decent deals or anything similar, please let me know!
Running a slight fever in Health ·
They weren't actually for the flu... Turns out, it wasn't even the flu after all. Honestly, I can't even tell what's going on with my body anymore.
The pills I took were Sudafed.

I’m feeling a whole lot better today. My fever was absolutely running wild through the night, just bouncing all over the place, but things have finally settled down now.
It turns out my gut instinct was right—I ended up having an allergic reaction to those pills. Honestly, when I woke up this morning, I looked like I’d been rolling around in poison ivy or something equally ridiculous...
I managed to get some allergy medication to help, but I can't touch those specific tablets ever again.
Thankfully, the worst of the storm has passed.

Well, looks like a viral bug finally caught up with me too 😢
It started with a cough on Friday. By Saturday, I was hovering around 99-99.5 degrees, and then last night it spiked above 100.5.
I actually went to see my doctor today. At first glance, she thought it was just the flu, but after checking me out properly, she clearly changed her mind 🙄
She prescribed some pills—I think I might have had an allergic reaction to this specific brand last time, though I can't say for certain. We'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Just what I needed right now 😠

Now I’m trying to figure out how to bring this fever down. I'm torn—should I just take some Advil, or try a lukewarm shower? I've heard people say the shower helps, but honestly, I've never actually tried it.
Dealing with Herpes? in Health ·
I totally got played by this thing!
I could feel it coming on my lower lip, so I thought I’d be smart and get ahead of it. Well, less than twenty-four hours later, here it is—popping up right on my upper lip instead!!!!
I absolutely loathe it!
(It clearly decided to invite a whole crowd of friends over for a visit)
