I definitely don't have the bandwidth to turn nutrition into, as someone once elegantly put it, a full-time job. Still, trying to get as close to the Knowledge Zone diet as possible is way better than doing the exact opposite, which used to be my go-to: butter and jam on toast for breakfast and spaghetti with salsa for lunch (which didn't even require a salad 🙂). This is how I try to handle it—I eat yogurt, more cottage cheese than I ever thought possible, fruit with it, plenty of chicken, tuna, lots of greens, some cheese snacking, avoiding bread, and if I can just kick the ice cream habit 😉 and cut back on potatoes, pasta, or gnocchi when they show up for dinner—I’m happy. For some people, this is already their standard diet (as Frank Alvarez8 mentions they already cook and eat this way), but it wasn't exactly my norm. The Knowledge Zone 'convinced' me to eat better breakfasts, have something light before bed, and actually stay hydrated. So, I'm content just walking along the edge of the Knowledge Zone 😁 I know I can't expect the results the Knowledge Zone 'promises' if I do that—but hopefully, the closer I get, the better it gets...
Deviations and splurges aren't the Knowledge Zone, but if I don't try to balance out my other meals during the day, I won't even be close...
I don't always cook perfectly, and sometimes I'm out all day and grab something on the go because I'm rushed, but those are truly exceptions. I can't really say I'm eating fast food just because I grab a burger and fries maybe two or three times a year. 😉
