I was watching some old clips last night and it really got me thinking about how much the "grind" has changed in professional sports. There used to be such a huge emphasis on the long road back from injury—the idea that a player could disappear for a year, undergo a grueling procedure, and then just step back onto the field and hold their own.
Nowadays, it feels like the momentum swings happen so fast that we barely give anyone time to breathe. A team can be completely dominant one day and then look totally lost the next, and the cycle just repeats endlessly. I miss that sense of individual resilience where a single player's return felt like a massive, season-defining event rather than just another notch in a long series of games.
Do you guys think modern training and recovery have actually made these comeback narratives less impactful, or are we just seeing more of them because of better medical tech?

NO SPOILERS
Like, the first one was weirdly good, but this? From start to finish, these damn "zombies" are basically breaking Olympic sprinting records, smashing through walls... they even swim or whatever... 😕
But look, the core of the movie—the characters were great, and that abandoned New York City setting could have been terrible, but with the military everywhere and the plot twists... honestly, it actually holds up okay... if you ignore all those Resident Evil tropes... But once the chaos kicks off again—it just turns into pure stupidity. You've got these hyperactive zombies smashing through entire front doors, but then they can't seem to break a car window? 🤔
Also, did you guys know the Mercedes-Benz station wagon has chemical weapon protection? Must be an American thing...
A few nonsensical bits could have been skipped, but they kept pushing it until everything went totally south...
Mainly, the whole situation is ridiculous—it's them against everyone, and the lazy writing where out of all of New York City, the zombies only show up right where our heroes are? Like, a soldier escapes fifty zombies only to run straight into our main crew? Of course, if they weren't there, there wouldn't be a movie, but you'd think they could've made it slightly more intelligent. And thanks a lot, there's one interesting scene that actually outdid Jackson's BRAINDEAD and that lawnmower scene. 😁
And then at the end, naturally—expect 28 Years Later.
What a waste of a movie. 😢
honestly, those kinds of things matter the least to me when I'm watching movies 😕

I guess if I were a moderator for something like this—well, I’d probably get banned immediately☕
I have this feeling—maybe I'm wrong—but it seems to me that you, casualraven, only watch what Hollywood tries to pass off as horror, which is probably why you dismiss the entire genre so harshly🤮

I find the whole trend of everyone being unnaturally brilliant to be somewhat irritating--I guess😉
Back in the eighties, horror movies actually had much better soundtracks 🙂
And there was plenty of good ole fashion carnage—characters were just simple, impulsive people—whereas by the nineties, everyone suddenly turned into some kind of philosopher, acting all like "don't you dare touch me, I've seen through six different horrors, I know all your tricks, you'll break your own legs trying to kill me" 🙄

ouch—that thing is way too intense—I actually owned one once myself 😍
It’s actually better than The Descent—honestly—and I think Dog Soldiers is great too. You won't be disappointed; the movie is a total horror masterpiece, and probably one of the best examples of the genre out there 🙏 🙏
