Laura Foster71 said:It’s not even about them being too tight... I mean, they're actually super loose on me when I pull them up, so if I actually tried to size them down, I wouldn't be able to get them over my hips or even button them up. Honestly, you just gotta watch what you're buying, period...

Amen. 🙂

Furthermore, trying to taper clothing at a tailor often just distorts the entire silhouette. There was a period in my life where, due to health issues, I was forced to have my clothes taken in—including my jeans—and the results were an absolute catastrophe. No matter how skilled the tailor was, the structural integrity was ruined. I’m just thankful to God that that chapter is behind me and my health has stabilized.🙂

Coco, those are fantastic! 😍 Get them. They might be bold, but they are absolutely brilliant. And styling them won't be an issue at all—you could pair them with yellow tops, white tees, graphic prints, a boyfriend blazer, or even some solid-colored sweaters. If I could somehow try them on right now and know for certain they’d fit me perfectly, I would snap them up in a heartbeat...

Topshop. 🙂 I’d say they run somewhere between $350 and $150, depending on the specific cut you're looking at. Plus, if you're a student, you can snag a 10% discount on the X-model. They are genuinely high-quality and sturdy; they don't lose their shape or stretch out on you. 😍 Now, Diesel jeans are equally impressive in terms of quality, but you won't find them for less than $267. Honestly, they actually last even longer than the Topshop pairs and hold their form perfectly. It is absolutely worth investing the extra money in them.

Do they happen to carry any models in gray or black? I’ve been scouring the website, but everything seems to be some variation of blue... I really like the designs, and if the quality holds up—and if I won't end up being just another number like at most other stores—it would definitely be worth investing my money in them. 🙂

I’ve been wearing one pair for three years now and there’s zero change, they’re comfortable and just... great. Personally, I would never drop $300 on basic denim just because the tag says Diesel or Replay 🙄. I don't buy them often enough to justify the price, though I could afford it, I just don't want to! For $300, I could get a pair of jeans, a shirt, and a bottle of perfume 😍
I think there are plenty of high-quality jeans out there at fair prices, it's just that those brands don't have a fancy label attached to them 🤣
I always end up buying the ones that are skin-tight, to the point where I can barely breathe or walk. Then after just one day of wear, they look totally saggy, lose their shape, and become just 👍

Look, I’ll say it plainly: I wish I could just walk into Zara, Mango, or Gap and find a pair of jeans that actually fits. But let’s be real—it’s a lost cause for someone with my build. I’ve mentioned this before, so I shouldn't have to repeat myself, but here we are. I’m a standard, slender girl—about 123 pounds at 5'6"—but my proportions are completely off for mass-market fashion. Nature gave me a 27-inch waist and 35-inch hips, which sounds fine on paper, but in reality, there is almost zero definition. My waist doesn't exist, my hips barely show, and my backside is pretty much flat. When you have a silhouette like mine, those big-box retailers might as well not even bother making clothes for us.
I find myself constantly bouncing between stores like Mango, Zara, Vero Moda, Madewell, Dolce & Gabbana, Levi's, Mustang, LTB, Naf Naf, Benetton, and Tommy Hilfiger—just browsing here, then there. And let me tell you, the selection of denim is absolutely stunning. Mango, in particular, has some incredible models; I saw these grey ones with stud detailing that were just breathtaking. But that’s exactly where the nightmare begins. I try on a size 6, and while they fit my backside perfectly, there is absolutely zero chance I’m getting the button closed. Then I move up to a size 8, and suddenly the waist fits, but now I'm dealing with all this awkward bunching around the hips and pulling at the crotch. It is the exact same story in 95% of the shops out there. It’s infuriating. 😕
Most of my denim comes from Diesel. Right now, I own three pairs of theirs. I’ve got these light gray ones that are hitting the two-year mark, and they’ve finally started chafing between the legs—which is actually impressive, considering most other brands I buy fall apart within a year. My grandmother patched them up for me, so I’ll probably be wearing them for quite a while longer. Then there are my medium blue and dark blue pairs. Their sizes 28 and 29 fit like a glove, specifically the Liv model in a 29 with 2% elastane. 🙏 Liv's eyes are a deep navy, almost indigo, and they catch the light perfectly.
I also have some pieces from Topshop—their lightbulbs [style items] and those flared cuts are absolutely fantastic. It would be incredible if I could consistently find trousers there for around $40.$150Honestly, I remember when things were actually decent around here, back in the day. But lately? When I’ve gone looking for something worthwhile, I haven't found a single model that even comes close to being impressive. The selection has been absolutely pathetic. It is glaringly obvious that Magma is completely spiraling right now.
Honestly, what can you even do? My ass is incredibly picky and just plain weird—it only "approves" of Diesel (specifically the 28 or 29 waist) and Topshop (the size 10, specifically the Baxter model), and that is absolutely it. I have seriously exhausted myself hunting for the perfect pair of jeans everywhere under the sun, and yet, nothing else works.

I once owned a pair of Replay jeans and two different pairs from Hilfiger. On the surface, the fit was impeccable—they looked fantastic on me. But the actual quality? It was honestly painful. Both pairs completely fell apart within five to eight months of regular wear. My cousin also got burned by Replay; both her pairs disintegrated almost instantly, like they were made of crackers instead of denim. 😢

When it comes to denim, I don’t mind splurging a little extra. The same logic applies to a high-quality coat or a solid pair of boots—these are investment pieces you wear for years, not just seasons. As for basic tees and other filler items, I’m much more frugal. I’d never waste my money on a Diesel t-shirt; I can easily pick up something similar at H&M, Mango, or Zara without a second thought. However, jeans are the absolute foundation of my wardrobe, and honestly, they’re the only pants I own. I know from experience that Diesel denim is top-tier quality, and I truly don't regret spending the money. I would much rather buy one killer pair and wear them for two or three years than be stuck spending $100 every six months or so just to keep my closet functional. $133 As for those who are going to fall apart quickly... I’m not saying it's a universal rule, but so far, only my Diesel ones have actually managed to withstand that much friction between my legs for any length of time. 😁

See, that’s exactly where my experience differs... Sure, I like them snug, but I refuse to have extra inches of love handles or a belly spilling out because the fabric failed. None of the pairs I've owned have ever stretched out on me. I distinctly remember a pair of Miss Sixty jeans—they were 100% denim, zero stretch, and I could barely even get the button fastened. They never lost their shape, but they did leave bruises around my waist, so I eventually just handed them off to my sister. Personally, I prefer that "second skin" feel. I don't mind if they're a tiny bit tight at the waist, provided I can actually close the button, but I demand that they never lose their tension or sag. 😁
Dealing with painful periods in Women's Health ·
Harold Stewart3 said:Look, don't just grab birth control pills solely to manage pain 😉

Why shouldn't I? Is it really better to just suffer through agony every single month?
On top of that, painful and heavy periods can lead to anemia or act as a red flag for PCOS (which is my situation, for instance).
The point is, you have to be extremely cautious with hormonal pills; you absolutely must get a full blood panel done before anyone prescribes them or before you start taking them.
For example, during my first month on Logest, the cramps and nausea were more intense than anything I've ever experienced in my life. However, once I complained to my gynecologist, she switched me over to Yasmin immediately, and it was a completely different story—zero side effects and about six or seven positive benefits instead. 🙏

Nancy Cruz3 said:Hmm... I’d suggest Aleve. Specifically the extra strength kind.
I relied on it for years; it was the only thing that actually worked for me because my period cramps were absolutely brutal. We’re talking vomiting, fainting spells... the whole spectrum.
Now, I’ve switched to Evra contraceptive patches, and I have to say, they are a complete game-changer when it comes to managing menstrual pain. In other words, the pain is just... gone.

I second this completely. I used to suffer through agonizing pain—it felt like someone was driving nails into my lower abdomen and up toward my kidneys. I would vomit, feel dizzy, and it would drag on for the first three or four days. Without taking two Aleve or Knavon Forte, I couldn't function. 🤷

Then I started using Yasmin. The PMS is gone, the pain is non-existent, my cellulite improved, I don't deal with ovulation tenderness anymore, and even my breasts have gotten fuller. 😍
Leonardo DiCaprio in Aviator in Movies ·
Steven Ruiz said:Around the same time, I found myself watching two massive blockbusters back-to-back, Ray and Aviator.
While Ray absolutely blew me away and totally lived up to all the hype—not to mention how thrilled I am that Jamie Foxx snagged his Oscar—Aviator just left me feeling completely indifferent.
It’s not like the movie is a total disaster, but it definitely feels way too long and overhyped for what it actually is.
Certain parts of Hughes' life fly by at lightning speed, while other segments just drag on forever like an endless stretch of highway...
I honestly found myself nodding off in a few spots, and looking around the theater, it seemed like plenty of other people were struggling to stay awake too.
Leonardo was truly spectacular, though, and he was easily the only bright spot in the entire production, especially with how brilliantly he portrayed those moments involving OCD (which I can personally relate to since I deal with mild OCD myself).
On the other hand, I thought Cate was just terrible, and even though I know she won an Oscar for it, I just couldn't get past it.
Her accent felt so forced and labored, which made it incredibly distracting for me.
I just couldn't shake that feeling, and it eventually reached a point where every single scene featuring her started to feel totally irritating...

I am signing on to what boldano said; I particularly agree regarding Cate. She was incredibly irritating—not just because of the accent, but because her entire facial expression, posture, and body language felt completely caricatured.

For comparison, here is the original Katherine:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxrYF...eature=related

I've got my hands on some copies of Cateine:
I cannot process or analyze content from external YouTube links directly. If you provide a transcript or a description of the video's content, I will be able to rewrite it for you following all your specific instructions regarding tone, persona, and entity substitution.

And besides, she really is such a magnificent actress. 🤷 I sincerely hope that *Aviator* remains the sole blemish on her career.

I am resurrecting this thread from the ashes because I decided to give "Aviator" a third chance tonight. Honestly? It was a waste of time. Even after a third viewing, there is still a bitter taste in my mouth; my opinion of this film hasn't improved one bit. It is, without question, one of the worst films in the Scorsese filmography.
DiCaprio? Please. He was an absolutely wrong choice for the role of Howard. And I’m not even talking about his physical appearance—I'm talking about the acting itself. To me, he comes across like a hamster on speed; just this tiny, hyperactive rodent desperately trying to project the aura of a dangerous predator, like a lion or a tiger, much like his performance in The Departed. Those scenes involving the OCD were particularly unconvincing—that manic hand-washing until the skin bleeds and those sequences in the hotel room were just completely lacking in credibility. 👎

And let's be clear: when you compare "Raya" to "Aviator," Jamie Foxx absolutely earned that Oscar. I’ve never been his biggest fan as an actor, but man, he was phenomenal. He completely transformed into Ray Charles and nailed that performance. 🙏

That’s all from me. I have just one final appeal to make to Scorsese: look, Marty, enough with the constant reliance on DiCaprio. It would be far more productive if you returned to your collaborations with Keitel, De Niro, and Pesci. As for the younger talent, stick with Damon, but for heaven's sake, bring Christian Bale into the mix! 🙂
Robert De Niro in Movies ·
Jerry Martin19 said:Looks like I painted the wrong picture... My take... About De Niro and why he's even being brought up in this thread... I need to set the record straight. Not too long ago, one of the guys here—maybe wearytinker8—started a whole discussion about... Taxi DriverI haven't even really formed a solid opinion on De Niro yet. I’ve sat through maybe 15 of his movies, and for the most part, he hits the mark—most of them being pretty good or even great. I've never had anything negative to say about him, and that hasn't changed... He’s certainly not the first actor to settle into a predictable groove toward the end of his career, and honestly, calling him one-dimensional isn't exactly an insult. A lot of actors work that way, so I don't see why it couldn't be the same for De Niro... Just my two cents... Yeah, that's just how his performance works. Maybe it’s the casting, but who knows... People are probably gonna say something like, "If you don't think De Niro is a transformative actor, just watch..." Awakenings...I can't say I've sat through the whole thing, but I caught a chunk of it... specifically the end, and honestly, it was just...Just the same old pasta...Who says that's actually a bad thing? Not being a transformative actor doesn't mean you're a bad actor; it just means you're the kind of performer destined for more or less the same type of role—and I don't mean "soldier" vs "soldier," I mean the actual essence of the character. It's the same deal with Al Pacino, but... If you ask me... De Niro’s got way more range than people give him credit for...

I have no clue what the deal is with this... Cape Fear...Unknown... Al Pacino... If you ask me... One of the weaker Scorsese films I've seen, and trust me, I've seen plenty... After... The Aviator...And his worst one... but I missed it... Gangs of New York... Which one is probably just as bad, if not worse... The AviatorIf my gut isn't lying to me... before anyone decides to come at me again, they might want to take another look at... boldano...

Most people have that one favorite actor, and then there’s the "best" actor. They aren't always the same person—loving someone doesn't automatically mean you think they're the greatest of all time, and vice versa. I’m betting most of you here count De Niro as a favorite, maybe even the best, but hey, those are just individual takes that eventually turn into a consensus... For me, it’s Tim Roth. He’s my favorite and my pick for the best, all wrapped into one. Can't get much better than that. So what am I supposed to do now? Try to convince the whole world that my opinion is the only right one? Ridiculous...

I feel like we’ve already hit this wall a dozen times before: there is no objective yardstick to measure what’s actually "good" or "bad," especially when it comes to film. So why bother using one? We're basically just throwing our own opinions out there—some people will vibe with them, others won't, and that's really all there is to it. Why try to pin down some absolute standard of quality when it's something so inherently subjective anyway...

As far as I'm concerned, Gangs of New York isn't any better than The Aviator... 🤷 the only saving grace is Daniel Day-Lewis; Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz are quite poor. I am deeply disappointed by this Scorsese-DiCaprio collaboration. The Departed is slightly better than those first two; Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg both surprised me with how well they handled their roles, and Jack was solid, but DiCaprio, well... 😕 in my view, he tries way too hard in roles that simply don't fit him. All of his dialogue feels so forced and artificial that the end result is practically comedic; he comes across like a kid desperately trying to act like a tough guy or a hardened criminal... he just hasn't clicked for me as an actor.

Chloe Nguyen said:Even if Robert De Niro had never filmed anything else in his entire life, his performances in Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and even The Godfather would probably be more than enough to cement his status as a true acting legend—especially considering what he did in Raging Bull.

If I had to point out one single shortcoming in his acting toolkit, I suppose it might be his inability to cry on cue. But then again, I guess you can't really hold that against him when Al Pacino struggles with the same thing.

As for Gangs of New York, I don't think it’s a bad movie, though it certainly isn't anything special either. In my humble opinion, if the film had been built around Daniel Day-Lewis and his character rather than the somewhat uninspiring Leonardo DiCaprio, it might have actually been an absolute masterpiece.

I second this. 🙂

Now, hold on just a second—I have to strongly disagree with that take, especially when it comes to Al Pacino. 😉 I am not sure if you have experienced those final few minutes of Dog Afternoon. If you haven't, you are missing out; the performance is incredibly moving. He cries with such raw, devastating conviction that it is impossible to look away. 👍 Those massive, expressive eyes—filled with pure terror, helplessness, and total despair—before they finally overflow with tears that stream down a contorted face, only to see that forehead drop heavily against the hood of a police car. It was just too much. Personally, I’ve never been the type to cry during a movie, but that specific scene (near the end of Empire of the Sun starring Christian Bale) hit me right in the gut. I actually felt a knot tighten in my throat, and my eyes started to well up.
Look, if you want to talk about greatness, we need to discuss *Scent of a Woman*, *Serpico*, that role as *Scarecrow*, and *Angel in America*—and honestly, I could go on forever.

Regarding De Niro, I find myself disagreeing with that assessment as well. While I'll concede that his tearful performances can occasionally veer into being a bit caricatured, his work in The Deer Hunter—specifically that intense Russian roulette scene with Christopher Walken—is absolutely masterfully executed.

And while we are on the subject of those unbelievable crying scenes—I mean, honestly, just look at Brad Pitt’s performance in Seven Years in Tibet, Troy, or Legend of Autumn. It is absolutely staggering. 🤣 I honestly start tearing up from laughing just thinking about that whole situation.
Honestly, Hayden Christensen's performance in Star Wars: Episode II was pretty lackluster. That specific moment where he delivers the line, "I killed them, I killed them all..." just didn't land at all. It was far from great. 😁 I have to say, in *Life as a House*, he delivered a truly convincing performance; he really nailed that role and made it his own. 👍
Robert De Niro in Movies ·
As for Robert De Niro himself, he is an exceptional actor with a massive catalog of legendary roles, though unfortunately, over the last decade or so, he’s been stuck in a rut by picking subpar projects... While he remains one of my absolute favorite actors, I have to admit that Al Pacino holds a slight edge for me. 🙂

De Niro's definitive masterpiece is undoubtedly his portrayal of Mike Vronsky in the brilliant The Deer Hunter. He was also nothing short of phenomenal in Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Casino, Taxi Driver, Once Upon a Time in America, Heat, and The Godfather Part II...
However, he was quite disappointing and fell short in Hide and Seek, Meet the Parents / Meet the Fockers, Showtime, and 15 Minutes...

I sincerely hope he can pull himself out of this slump and finally get back on track...

They actually already have. 😁😁😁 It's called "Righteous Kill," where Al Pacino and Robert De Niro play detectives—partners investigating a murder case. From what I hear, De Niro is playing a somewhat neurotic, loud character this time around, while Al Pacino plays the cooler, tougher guy. 😁

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1034331/

According to some sources, it’s hitting theaters in Spring 2008, though others are saying Fall 2008.
I am incredibly curious to see how this turns out. Based on the chatter I've seen on the IMDb forums, I'm a bit skeptical, but I refuse to bash the film before I've actually sat down to watch it. 🙂

Hey, darksurfer39, talk to me about this... That 58kg mark feels like my sweet spot, and let me tell you, putting on weight is an uphill battle... we just have those lightning-fast metabolisms, you know? 😉

brightcobra91 said:I was doing some reading on IMDb, and there's a theory floating around that Pacino's character started being attracted to men😁 (which explains why he said he couldn't take it anymore, that he had to get out, that it was all too much)—so because of that, by denying it and trying to destroy that part of himself, he turned into a killer of his own kind (psychology, right? 😁).

I don't think Pacino actually got involved in murders, though that could be a plausible theory👍, but his character, Steve, is definitely a latent gay. By entering that world, his subconscious finally revealed his attraction to men. After completing the undercover assignment, he returns to his girlfriend just to try and "return to normal"—largely due to societal prejudice and the public stigma surrounding homosexuality, and because he doesn't want to hurt her. However, when he leaves those aviator sunglasses and that leather cap sitting on the chair, and she puts them on herself, I get the impression he was subconsciously signaling his true orientation to her. It feels like she realized he was gay, yet they both continued their life together by silently accepting his homosexuality without ever actually speaking the truth to one another. It’s much like how Marlon Williams in Brokeback Mountain discovered her husband's sexuality; she kept quiet and endured it for several years, continuing to live with him for a while longer... at least, that is my interpretation of it.
Period and Menstrual Cycle Talk in Women's Health ·
Elizabeth Hill48 said:I was actually sitting here reflecting on this today... over the last year, my cycle has been nothing short of a mess. We are looking at a window of 25 to 36 days.😕 I am twenty-three years old, and despite starting my period at eleven, my cycle remains completely irregular to this day.😲I get my period about every four or five days at most, and honestly, I have absolutely no idea what people mean when they talk about PMS.🤣 So, I actually went ahead and asked Dr. Miller about getting an ovarian ultrasound—which, mind you, is my first time ever having one done—but... He’s telling me there’s absolutely no way I have PCOS because, if he can even notice, I look "just too healthy."🙄 He told me that during my exam... said there was absolutely no need for an ultrasound. Well, fine then. I suppose he knows better than I do, damn him. And so, here I am, living in this constant state of anxiety every single month, terrified of being pregnant because I have zero clue if or when my period is actually going to show up. Today is day 30, and still nothing.

So, here’s my situation: I’ve been diagnosed with PCOS, which honestly makes zero sense to me. I’ve never dealt with any issues regarding my period—not even back in puberty—my skin is absolutely flawless, and I don't have an issue with unwanted hair at all. It just doesn't add up. 🤷

When it comes to my menstrual cycle, I started back in seventh grade when I was about twelve and a half. I’ve been dealing with this for ten full years now. Before I started taking Yasmin, my cycle was all over the place—it would range anywhere from 24 to 35 days, and I even had a few instances where it showed up after only 19 days. It was completely unpredictable. However, ever since I switched to Yasmin, everything has stabilized perfectly; my period arrives like clockwork every 28 days, right on schedule. 😁
Before I started taking birth control, my first three days were an absolute nightmare of excruciating cramps and pain. And don't even get me started on the PMS—it was brutal. But honestly, Yasmin worked wonders. Now? Not a single trace of PMS or any of that pain left. 🙏

Someone please explain this to me. 😳

I suspect it was the roommate/lover because he was consumed by jealousy over his relationship with Pacino... 😕

In short, I am just working my way through the remaining gaps in Pacino's filmography. My take on "Cruising"? Well, it was an interesting experience overall. It is a total departure from any other role Pacino has taken, and he certainly delivered. 🙂 It is definitely not his career-defining performance or movie, but it's solid enough. Generally speaking, I liked the film, though that ending was a mess... I found the whole killer subplot incredibly confusing. Did anyone else notice that the first killer (that curly-haired Slash look-alike who stabs the guy in the back while he's tied to the bed) ends up being a murder victim himself during that night in the park?!?

Angie, you aren't alone... I was laughing hysterically at that dance scene, just like I was at the part where Pacino lifts weights and draws on his eyebrows with a pencil before heading out to the club... 😁
