I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we consume sports news and how easily we get swept up in the hype cycles of a single week. We all do it. You see a team pull off a string of wins against some heavy hitters, and suddenly every pundit on TV is talking about them being "unstoppable" or "redefining the season." But when I look at the data, I can't help but wonder how much of it is just a temporary peak in a bell curve.
I remember back in my college days, I used to follow a specific team with a lot of passion. They went on this incredible tear in late April—won seven in a row, looked like the absolute favorites for the championship, and the local forums were basically a non-stop celebration. We were convinced they were the real deal. Then, as soon as the honeymoon phase ended, they collapsed. It turns out they weren't "redefining the season"; they just caught a few elite pitchers on an off-day or benefited from a series of lucky bounces in the dirt.
It feels like modern sports media is designed to feed this "momentum" narrative because it generates clicks. It’s much more exciting to say a team is "on fire" than to say they are playing slightly above their seasonal average for a four-day stretch. We love the idea of a Cinderella story or a sudden surge of dominance, but I find myself becoming more skeptical of these short-term bursts.
There's also the psychological aspect to consider. When a team starts winning like this, the pressure shifts. For the winning team, it’s an intoxicating high, but it also sets a massive expectation that can become a burden. For the losing team, it's easy to fall into a "why can't we stop them?" spiral. I think we often overlook the "regression to the mean" factor. If a team is playing significantly better than their season-long metrics suggest, they are almost certainly due for a reality check.
I also look at it from the perspective of the individual performances. We see a pitcher dominate a lineup or a hitter find their groove, and we immediately start projecting these guys as perennial All-Stars. While talent is obviously real, the volatility of a single game or even a single week is massive. One lucky pitch, one error by a shortstop, or one hot night under the lights can skew the entire narrative of a player's season. It makes me wonder if we should be looking more at underlying metrics—like exit velocity or pitch movement—rather than just the scoreboard, to see if a "hot streak" actually has any substance behind it.
Don't get me wrong, I love the energy of a winning streak. It brings life to the stands and makes the community feel connected. There is something genuinely special about watching a group of guys click and play with that kind of confidence. But as a fan who has been burned by "momentum" narratives more times than I care to admit, I try to keep a bit of distance. I try to ask myself: Is this a fundamental shift in how this team operates, or are we just watching a very loud, very bright flash in the pan?
I'm curious to hear what you guys think about this. Do you actually buy into the idea of "momentum" in professional sports, or do you view these winning stretches as nothing more than statistical noise that eventually corrects itself? When does a "streak" actually become a legitimate turning point for a franchise?
Just sitting here listening to Perry Farrell and his solo record, song Yet to be Sung... what an absolute nutcase 😎.
I’m of the opinion that an occasional body detox is actually quite beneficial. There are just so many methods out there, and honestly, I haven't even figured out which one is the most effective or healthy, since everyone is selling something different.
Since I take prescription medications, a detox would be helpful for me, even though I try to watch my diet and hit the gym regularly, etc., etc... For liver support, for instance, I use Circulin (which is artichoke-based).
What are the best products out there? Should I go with something like Green Magma, or maybe Aloe Vera...?
Personally, I think natural methods are the way to go—green tea, ginger with lemon, cutting back on junk food... maybe just once a month at most...
I don't even know where to start with this mess... It’s just one thing after another lately. Honestly, I'm at my wit's end with how things are being handled around here. People seem to think they can just ignore the rules and expect everything to function perfectly. It doesn't work that way. It simply doesn't... kaže:
Does anyone here actually understand this stuff? I mean... why on earth does a single Vitamin C tablet contain... 500mg...😕 I’m not personally familiar with any side effects he might cause, though I’ve heard people claim that taking too much is just a total waste of time... but honestly, is a 500 mg dose actually necessary? Given that the RDA is only around 60 mg, I can't help but wonder if a smaller amount wouldn't be absorbed properly by the body, or...
Vitamin C usually doesn't cause any issues... but if you're taking it long-term, things can get messy. You might start dealing with diarrhea, headaches, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, or even stomach cramps...
A 500mg dose isn't even that much. I’m mostly taking it to deal with PMS... it actually helps take the edge off those menstrual cramps. Like the doctors always say—it isn't some kind of miracle cure, but it comes pretty close...
I had to cut him out of my life for a while... purely because the heartburn and gastritis became too much to handle...

how exactly do you go about consuming that grapefruit or orange? I’ve heard through the grapevine that it’s supposedly quite healthy! Do you take it on an empty stomach or something like that..?
A friend of mine tends to slice up some lemons and just let them soak in a glass of water, then she drinks the whole thing throughout the day. I suppose I’d love to try something similar, but I have had a few persistent issues with gastritis lately, so...
Grapefruit, oranges, freshly squeezed, on an empty stomach. Before coffee. I also deal with gastritis issues, but this actually works for my stomach, for now...

If you can kick the smoking habit, you'll find it much easier to dial back that intense daily routine. Right now, it seems like you're being a bit obsessive about everything else to compensate. 😉
I never said I wasn't obsessive... 😬 !
Dammit, what even is life without a little vice... 😉
I take my diet pretty seriously. Every single day, I make sure to get plenty of seeds 🙂 (flax, sunflower, soy, etc.), carob, coconut, cinnamon, and fruit—I never skip my morning glass of freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice. Bananas are a staple too, just for that serotonin boost. I also stay on top of my supplements with a B-Complex and a daily dose of Vitamin C. Generally speaking, my meals are diverse and high quality.
As for fitness, I do about 40 minutes of Yoga every morning, plus I hit an outdoor class twice a week for an hour. It’s something I truly enjoy. To mix things up, I'll do some jump rope or play a game of squash now and then. I don't let myself slack off 👍 !
My one current vice... cigarettes 😎 .
Old-school remedies? Absolutely. Various herbal teas, body scrubs, hair masks...
ironseal13 said:I deal with hearing issues too—not deafness, per se, but this weird pressure builds up in my right ear out of nowhere. It’s like that sensation you get when you’re scuba diving or hiking up a mountain and the pressure shifts, except I don't dive and I'm not exactly scaling the Rockies. I went through all the specialist appointments, and they told me (surprise, surprise!) that my hearing is perfectly fine. I can't seem to make them understand that my hearing is usually great; it's just those specific moments where my right ear plugs up and it feels like my eardrum is about to burst...
Anyway, back to the topic: what should I use to clean them, and how often? Water is a bad idea, using a Tuljak is out, and cotton swabs are off the table... so what's left?
I mentioned a specific product earlier, but I'm not sure if it's actually available here in the States. I have to run to the pharmacy urgently today, so I'll check and see if they carry it!
Outdated methods, rinsing, cauterizing... I had to go in for a rinse once—against my will, because I have a massive phobia of hospitals—and let me tell you, it was anything but pleasant. Dammit, they weren't even using distilled water! Fak, I could end up with a serious infection at this rate!
And honestly, I’m dealing with issues right now. There's this constant ringing in my head, just a nasty sensation. I am not letting that doctor push me around.
I saw an ad on Channel A for some kind of spray to fix these exact problems. You just spray it and you're done! Does anyone happen to know what it was called?

:asshole: What kind of education are they handing out in preschool these days? 😎
I’m going to drop this under this thread... it isn't about being lost, per se, but more of a "glitch" regarding left and right. Someone tells me to turn right, and I instinctively veer left, or vice versa. It happens constantly. It takes me a few seconds to actually process which side is which 😬 .
So, I just stumbled upon a post where you mentioned wanting to join the police force! If that's the case, we're looking at an isolated incident here, and honestly, it takes things to a whole different level. No amount of vitamins is going to fix some of the issues you've got going on!
( Like Kawasaki3P says: ..progress is slow.. 🙂 )
What kind of vitamin deficiency are we even talking about here? Is this just for general wellness, or are you trying to bounce back from something specific... like stress, an illness, or maybe some side effects from other meds?
Generally speaking, pairing Complex b with Plivit C is a solid move 👍 !

Then what on earth is actually safe to eat?!
Give me a break...
And it’s even more annoying because they’re so contradictory—it’s healthy, it’s not healthy... blah, blah, blah!
Both tuna and sardines are good for you, so just go for it 🙂, obviously, within reason.
Fish living in tuna has absolutely nothing to do with pollution.
God knows what else is going to kill us at this rate... 😁
I absolutely loathe spring!!
It just drains the life right out of me. I’m constantly popping Centrum, Vitamin C, Calcium... all that stuff keeps me going for a minute, but once that spring sun starts beating down on my head, there's no saving me. I'm just completely wiped out.
Blessed winter!! 🙏
slyskipper7 said:Thanks so much, everyone... seriously, if anyone else has some advice to throw my way, please, I'm all ears... I was actually starting to freak out that I’d completely lost my damn mind.
Since you guys mentioned it's smarter to just stick to one type of this crap for calming down, I'm kind of stuck on what to actually take... I mean, I've got Paxil, Xanax 10, Prozac, and Normabell that I got prescribed.
To answer the person asking—yeah, I was mixing the pills with drugs, and from everything I've heard, that's probably the main reason everything went sideways on me.
And honestly, screw it, I am never doing that again. It's either meds or drugs, depending on how the day goes, maybe just some weed to take the edge off.
Thanks y'all
Don't mention it! Just speak up if anything else is eating at you or keeping you on edge.
And you know better than most—medication is just a crutch, not the cure itself.
Hang in there! 👍
Mixing different types of benzos isn't a good idea. Seriously. You took some pretty heavy doses there, and since you aren't on a steady regimen—just slamming two pills in quick succession—your body is obviously freaking out. Next time you find yourself in this position where you feel like you need to take something, just stick to one single medication, even if you need a higher dose. Try cutting that Xanax in half first... wait to see if it actually works... and if all else fails, then maybe take the other half if you're still spiraling.
I once went through a terrifying bout of hallucinations because of a misprescribed medication (Sulpirid)... and let me tell you, it is absolutely nightmare fuel.
