Looking at the winners from last night—"Leviathan" is hands down the best one there. "Insomnia" was pretty solid too, even if it felt a bit thin on substance. As for the rest? Honestly, I mostly forgot them the second I walked out of the theater. And I wasn't even drinking.😕
Bryan Torres said:...honestly, the last movie wasn't even a total disaster... but seriously, why does the latest one always have to be so damn long?! That bit with Kazimir—the guy just drawing black squares... was actually a decent idea.
Personally, my favorite part was: "When are you gonna stop drawing all this porn!?"🤣
Thursday was peak—"Rabbit" was the best, while "Lady Godiva" was absolute garbage. As for tonight? Hard to pick anything besides pure effort and boredom—though I guess "Brothers Bearheart" had some decent bits. "Silencijum" is just awful—way too pretentious and tries way too hard to look fancy.🙂
Honestly, this movie would’ve been way better if they just dealt with that charming Indian stablehand by shoving his hunk of a son straight into a Breeina oven. As it stands, it’s just boring.😢
You talking about that 'powder keg' flick—the short one with the blind woman/kid? If that's the one, it's actually solid—definitely better than that generic crap they put in 'The Follow'
Maybe this list is a bit too ambitious for my taste—but honestly, they all hit:
Birth of a Nation Battleship Potemkin Sunrise M Citizen Kane Rashomon Hiroshima mon amour Breathless North by Northwest Psycho Nashville Blind Chance Blue Velvet (don't really get the 80s vibe, so I just threw this in) Twin Peaks Memento
Rajka said:Has nobody seen Touching The Void? Even if it isn't strictly a documentary—it’s pure suspense and basically a retro whodunnit. I didn't catch it in theaters and honestly, I regret missing those snowy landscapes and peaks on the big screen.
Watched it. It was great. That sterile vibe they used to film the actual people bugged me at first—feels too much like a TV doc, and that's the last thing you want in a cinema—but thirty minutes in, I was totally hooked and forgot all about it. Though, let's be real, those hallucination scenes could've been handled way more subtly (aka better).
Anyway, is it just me, or does Simon look like he stepped straight out of a Nick Park movie? 😁
Look, it’s not exactly hilarious—I mean, bears actually ate this guy—but those bits about the "gentle warrior" and all the theories about some guy's sexual dysfunction? Pure comedy gold.🤣 Herzog is totally in his element here—just cutting people off mid-sentence to shove his own perspective down their throats (that scene where he talks that slow-moving woman into burning the tape is brilliant and honestly pretty creepy). It's more of the same stuff you've seen in his older documentaries, but that point about how a Grizzly just stares at you with this completely indifferent, predatory gaze still hits hard.
And the foxes are 😍 ,way better than the 🙂Penguin .
