Was Jesus a liberal or a conservative? in Close to Politics ·
Arguments are flying everywhere lately—honestly, the right wing is really showing off the full spectrum of their "wisdom" again. 😍

wanderingmaker8 said:Sharing food with the masses, healing the poor and forgotten as some big metaphor for universal healthcare—it all smells like old-school communism to me. Telling everyone they can walk right through the pearly gates flies in the face of traditional faith that actually defines who belongs in the temple... it’s just another metaphor about how the elites shouldn't control people's lives, equality, and all that stuff.

So, let's see the conservatives try to debunk that one with some actual logic...

With Inquiv heading out, the admins and the rest of the moderators should probably be celebrating—I mean, the Forum is only as strong as its weakest link, right? Whether he was kicked out by the party, Maria Barnes, or someone else... honestly, I couldn't care less.

Looks like Big Brother just kicked Inqui out of the house. First Natch gets banned, then Michael Adams2's embarrassing moderation run hits the brakes... what is even happening right now? 😁

Interview with James Ellroy:

• So, why wasn't "Million Dollar Baby" really your thing?

- Honestly? Because I live for boxing, and the fights in that movie were just total garbage.

• Did you ever try stepping into the ring yourself?

- Oh, sure—and they beat the hell out of me every single time.

And here’s the best part:

• Ever deal with writer's block?

- Nope, never. I write when I feel like it, and if I don't feel like it? Well, that's not a block, right?

northerncrane4 said:When you're dealing with a writer as brilliant as James Ellroy, any attempt to trim or condense his work just does it a disservice. Take "Black Dahlia"—the plot has like six or seven perfect anticlimaxes and spans such a massive timeframe with way too many subplots. Knowing how formulaic Hollywood screenwriters can be, I bet they just cut all the good stuff. A friend of mine saw it and was pretty bummed—said the acting was terrible.

L.A. Confidential turned out to be an okay movie instead of the masterpiece the book is, mostly because there's just no way to fit everything in. Honestly? They should've just made them TV series.

I actually disagree about L.A. Confidential not being a masterpiece. I mean, taking a book like that, being crazy enough to even try, and pulling off a film that good...

It's like what Ellroy would say: It's a damn good movie, but the book is even better. (Which doesn't mean the movie isn't a masterpiece, right?)

What I'm trying to say is that the movie version of L.A. Confidential could only ever be worse than the book, never better.

As for Black Dahlia, I honestly doubt they can pull off that kind of success again. Especially since you've got such a heavy-hitting crew involved and De Palma is directing. Just too many big stars at once.

Anyone know why ruggedsailor25 has "Reds are evil and corrupt" in their signature?

Because they’re probably too scatterbrained to remember it without keeping it right under their nose—right? 😁 😁

Just sits there next to the name, surname, and address.

If you spot me out there, please just take me...

The Reds are evil and corrupt.

Just gotta get through this damn alphabet first.

Start with the easy ones... I don't know, maybe an 'i'? It's just a straight line—super simple, right? Might actually be able to catch that one.

She spent all week counting up the fallen Americans at Waterloo—and since she can't count past ten, she just decided to write down 300,000 instead. 😁

They’re just suffering from that classic American complex—named after some old frontier tribe. ☕

Mine or the mailman's—who cares, right? At least they'll be speaking American. Ferris, you feeling me, Elvis Presley?

ruggedsailor25 said:dustyscout53, how does it feel seeing 300,000 people chanting John Doe, John Doe, our hero!

300,000? Man, I heard it was more like a billion!

I don't think all that cheering really put any food on John's table, though...

Ugh, makes me sick. Honestly, whenever I see that pattern, I just want to pull out a lighter—spit on the floor, basically. Just *pfft*, spitting right at those fascists.

Personally, I'm following the path laid out by Stalin, heading straight for the USA (the European Union)—just waiting on my American brothers to catch up so we can all get together and celebrate. 🙂

That bathroom scene where Adam Sandler mistakes Teo Leoni for a girl—man, that perfectly nails the whole "men vs. women" brain thing. Honestly, James L. Brooks just doesn't miss.

So you want to skip your period but you aren't exactly down for birth control? Well—I guess you could always just find someone to get you pregnant instead.
Peter Diaz22 said:I was supposed to get my period on the 22nd or 23rd, but it’s already the 25th and I’m still waiting. Usually my breasts get super sore a few days before, but nothing this time. I'm also bloating like crazy—nothing there either. We both used protection, so I honestly don't get how I could even be pregnant? I've been peeing more often over the last 5 or 6 days and feeling some pressure in my lower stomach. I'll wait another two or three days then take a test. I'm praying to Quincy that I'm not pregnant... what do you guys think the odds are?!

😕

So, how's your boyfriend doing with his real estate stuff?
