Best opening scenes of all time? in Movies ·
Apocalypse Now definitely kicks off strong. Same goes for The Godfather. But honestly? My favorite opening has gotta be Once Upon a Time in the Wild West. 😍
Thoughts on Stephen Gaghan's Syriana? in Movies ·
Total perfection as an intro to Middle East nonsense. Just like how Traffic is the perfect gateway into drug deals. Obviously, if you actually know your stuff, the movie feels a bit surface-level—but people like that can just hide behind some butter... or maybe just hide out on Reddit, since everyone here acts like they've known everything forever anyway. I guess. 😁 😁

If you dug Traffic, you'll probably dig Syriana. Honestly, if Clooney and Soderbergh put their names on it as producers, it’s gonna be killer. Way to go, right? 👍
Madame Hooch said:So, "The Godfather" is playing on ABC tonight...

I've never actually sat through it before—and honestly, I'm not planning to tonight either.

You know what this reminds me of? Total celibacy.
I didn't hook up with anyone until I was twenty-eight. And hey, I'm not planning on changing that tonight.
Real fans of The Cure are out here asking where to find some decent rope... What kind of pins? Only the ones for your mouth. 😁 😁

just do something about it—you know, so we actually get some benefit from our folks living abroad😛

Can't talk right now—just dropped my phone straight into a geyser. 🙂

Roger Sullivan5 said:lol.. I'm talking about the official Mensa test—which doesn't really depend on who happens to be running the organization at any given time..
Mensa president? haha... wait, I actually thought Mensa had a president..🤣

Man, were you talking about the American chapter of Mensa? My bad! I’m living and working over in Iceland, so I was talking about our local Mensa here.

Gosh, now I'm feeling super awkward. 😳

So, does that mean you guys in America only have a 172 IQ?

Oof, maybe those are just old tests from back in 2002? Yeah, probably. You guys haven't gotten the updated ones yet. I'll see if I can pull some strings for you.

Anyway, you got a husband?

Roger Sullivan5 said:I don't even need to ask—I'm pretty well acquainted with Mensa and how they run their tests😛
The testing window is set for xy minutes, and everyone gets their materials at once... plus, anyone who finishes early is asked to hang tight so they don't distract the others... so, it doesn't really matter if someone wraps up faster than the rest..
The ceiling for any specific age group is "greater than" 172, which basically means anything higher isn't measured.. there you go.😉

Nah, you're just talking about one little faction within Mensa that causes drama—which I won't get into right now, since this isn't the time or place to air dirty laundry about how the Mensa president drives around in a pickup truck🙄 .

Roger Sullivan5 said:haha—it’s just that if you're doing a Mensa test, they don't actually measure past 172😬

They do measure it, just differently—if you hit all 172, they basically tack on the extra minutes based on how fast you finished. Just ask.

Same here—I was hitting 175 and 177 at Mensa, but then dropped down to the 150s over at CNN. 😕

And honestly, what even is an "egg" in this context?
FOX - "The Ultimate IQ Test in Psychology ·
So, does anyone actually have a 150 IQ? Like, all of you geniuses over here—what does that even mean? Do we need a thicker saw for the lobotomy?

Jeremy Flores10 said:just because she's a woman, she deserves a massive standing ovation.

So, what—are women just totally clueless? Like, does the mere fact that a woman managed to direct a movie from start to finish suddenly make her some huge hero or the ultimate icon of empowerment?

Ethan Ramos39 said:Good grief, so is the movie actually any good or not? And since when did the 'Transamerica' thread turn into 'Transamerica'?😕

It's like comparing Da Vinci's Code to the Church—if the Church had just stayed quiet, that movie wouldn't have gotten half the hype it did. I can't believe you guys all fell for the same old trick from dustyscout53... 🙂

Luckily, you didn't fall for it. 😁 😁

Paul Mendoza8 said:when someone’s out here begging for attention like this, the least we can do is give them a little spotlight, right? thanks to you 😍, after doing my good deed for the day—now I can finally ignore that guy busking on the corner. gotta run!

So I'm basically begging for an audience now... even if it's just some retirees! 😍

As soon as you show up, we'll get back to business. 😁

Thanks. 😳

Love you guys, no matter how old you are. 😍

Not sure if this even fits the thread—but hey, I’m living proof that anyone can actually pull off a visit to Taylor Swift's house. 😁

Terry Ramos60 said:Some people just can't stop obsessing over this whole idea that "objective critics" actually exist—it’s honestly kind of sad.

Such an enlightened soul. 😁

She really ought to write a book about all this wisdom and go on a guest spot on Oprah.

Terry Ramos60 said:dustyscout53, are you seriously that bored?

Anyway, thanks for the compliment—grouping me in with MrBeast and Coca-Cola. Though, honestly? I think you might be overestimating me.

Nah, I think I underestimated you—you're actually the spicy one here. 😁 😁
MetLife in Movies ·
northerncrane4, you were totally killing the vibe in this thread—I gave you a friendly heads-up, but now you're acting all high and mighty with your little rulebook.

Just stay quiet until I call on you again, okay? And seriously, keep in mind when you decide to start the next thread...

I'm always watching. 😎

northerncrane4 said:I even offered you ten cards—just for you. The only catch was that you actually had to watch the movie so you’d get what I'm talking about. But nope! You just want me to summarize it for you.

But whatever. It's not like you walked away empty-handed. Look, Jessica Nguyen85 laid out all our collective thoughts using a bunch of wild metaphors (there's even sperm involved!!!).

So yeah, Jessica Nguyen85 put our thoughts out there. And honestly? That's great. Now this forum is actually functional! 🙂

The actual plot doesn't matter to me—that should be obvious after reading a few pages here. A six-year-old could grasp the plot. But how the movie hits you, how *you* interpret it... that's the whole reason this forum exists, IMHO. But when you write something as cliché and boring as

indie film 🙄

Man, that's when I lose it! Because all I see is our youth—talented, but totally screwed.

Why is everyone being so negative? The trio of negativity (you, Koka, and Lala). A person who's happy with their life can't be this cynical. It's not even cool—I'm actually embarrassed for you guys. I see you've got brains, you've got style... But still... You're just disappointed. As for Lala, I'm guessing she's single. Maybe Koka is a divorcee or heaven forbid a widow, but hey, who knows what's going on with you.

Terry Ramos60 said:but what I don't get is—why do you have this weird need to call out MrBeast just because he's off-topic? LIKE, SERIOUSLY, IN A FORUM THREAD—as if anyone actually wrote a coherent film critique here?!?!

Only one reason—I actually think MrBeast can write a decent movie review. If I thought he was an idiot, I wouldn't even be talking to him. 😍

And he knows it. 😍 😍

Love ya, too. 😘
