coastalorca3 said:Personally, I find Tarantino interesting enough to dive a bit deeper into his work and jot down some thoughts along the way.
It’s about his unique journey, and his success is what really stands out.
If I didn't appreciate certain things about him, I wouldn't bother analyzing him at all.

But hey, from now on, I'll just post about how his movies are super 🙂

You don't always have to take me seriously, but his last film was honestly a blast for me. There might actually be more to dig into with his earlier stuff, too. Just speak your mind—if you can't do it here, then where can you?

I read through that script you linked, and that's basically how the movie should have looked if it hadn't been broken up. It actually seems even better, though it probably would've been way too long.
I didn't want to read the whole thing because then I'd see the ending, and I don't need that.
I wish there had been more madness, and maybe some Gogo Yubari.

coastalorca3, I think you're taking yourself way too seriously. The guy spent a massive amount of money to make this ($60 million plus), and since he’s clearly obsessed with kung fu movies—given how often he brings them up—this was bound to happen. He made a movie that's pure fun, though you can try to take it seriously if you really feel the need... personally, I had a blast. Why bother with these damn analyses of Tarantino's wet dreams?

So, I watched it again today (which is always a mission when you have to coordinate multiple groups just to hit the theater), and man, the movie is fantastic!
Just like the first time, I was totally entertained, laughing my head off, and now I'm just counting down the days until the sequel drops.

The whole thing is pure fun. Honestly, I think Tarantino probably set out to make one specific kind of movie, but then he likely remembered all those kung fu flicks he’s obsessed with (probably like 90 percent of his brain), so he thought, "Why not?"—and hey, he ends up making double the cash too...

Chiaki, I love you!!!11

They're running ads for it on the radio too, so maybe it’ll hit Cinemark right away. It finally opens this Friday.
They’ve shut down that video rental shop at least ten times already,
but man, I was really dying to head over there because they had this one specific movie I can't find anywhere else, and it's not even that new.

Yeah, it's fantastic.
But listen, they said the same thing about Beowulf; you might be better off just going to see it yourself to realize how damn good the movie actually is...

rapidstag74 said:So you're talking about the guys who wear baseball caps, enjoy breeding livestock on their own, drive pickup trucks, and actually believe aliens kidnapped Elvis?

Rednecks—they’re mostly down South. You forgot they deal with crises, breed cheese, stay close to family, and even have names like Billy Bob.
Hillbillysy live up in the mountains, but you find them in cities too; they're more like that trailer trash crowd who live, eat, and shop like animals... instead of people.

rapidstag74 said:Some kid with a gun showed up and killed the hillbilly.

Pfft, even the rednecks aren't what they used to be.

A parrot decided to pursue a career in Hollywood. It didn't survive the trek through the Rocky Mountains.

Last words: "Polly hates crackers."

Man, that kid is so Hollywood, and a hillbilly isn't the same thing as a redneck.
When I was in the States, I actually met those hillbillies and they were pretty cool.
There was this guy named Kenny living out in the sticks near my grandfather's place (not sure how, since his estate is pretty wealthy), just out in some rural shack. He had a beer belly sticking out of an "I Love America, God Loves Us" shirt, he'd constantly borrow twenty bucks from my granddad, and his wife would beat him... what kind of crazy people are these? That's just America for you...
And those Hollywood parrots always say the exact same thing.

casualotter21 said:Well, I'm sitting here downloading photos of Chiaki right now—photos that were probably taken back when girls her age wouldn't even be allowed to pose like that in the States... and meanwhile, I've got Shkoro playing on the TV in the background along with some old folk tunes. Talk about East Meets West. Such symbolism...

Can I get a link, please?
Thanks-.
You won't find a better collision of East and West than this.
Kill Bill Vol. 1 in Movies ·
rapidstag74 said:Probably, since most of them have... asymmetrical teeth.
I don't see that being an issue with Chiaki.

P.S.
I'm watching this movie on KanalRI where some hillbillies are blasting at a parrot with AKs.

Damn that channel... why do I have such crappy taste... I'm actually rooting for the hillbillies... what happened to the parrot?

By the way, speaking of being obsessed with cute Japanese women, it reminded me of that World Cup in Japan, back when the Prince and his crew were out filming local girls in different cities. There are scenes where they’re filming schoolgirls all giggling awkwardly—you know, that specific way only Japanese women do it—and then it cuts to one of our fans saying, "Man, there are plenty of hot ones, but none of them will let us hit on them." Later, you see the Prince and the guys sitting in a shopping mall, shouting at passing Japanese women:

"HEY LITTLE LADY!!!! WHERE YOU HEADED, HUH?!!! WANT ME TO BUY YOU A DRINK?!! HEY, HEYYYYYY, LITTLE LADY!!111" and the women just ignore them and dodge the camera.

I don't know, it's some kind of diary written in Japanese, so someone just translated a part of it... she's just so sweet, and I can't stand sweetness, unless it's actually sweet.
Actually, Japanese women prefer a more aggressive approach; knock them unconscious with a fast tiger style, and then they'll follow you wherever you want once they wake up-.

casualotter21 said:I met this Japanese woman once. She was just so cute and sweet. We were in the same class for five fukken weeks and I didn't do a single THING. And she was so modest, humble, sweet, shy, everything!

I could have been hitting on her instead, and now I can brag about how I'm the only one among all you losers who actually landed an Asian girl, or how some hot cute Japanese woman gutted my stomach with a wakizashi.

ENVY ME!

....

Please, do. I'll feel better after that.

I know a girl from Singapore, but she had a boyfriend before, probably still does... maybe I'll go visit her next year...
And I'm heading to Japan soon, gotta land me a cute Japanese woman...
What kind of class was it?
I have to admit, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I hadn't at least scored with her.
If only there were more of them in Washington, D.C.

She was born in November '84. Man, look at her go! I was just browsing this forum and posting mindless nonsense when she was my age.

Ugh...

I'm laughing like a maniac right now because she's actually my age!!!1
yeeeeeeeeeeej
Japanese women seem to prefer Western guys more often; maybe I should try my luck (Yubari is the last name in the movie... though I'm definitely not Gogo)

casualotter21 said:tsss, you really picked the right person to ask. After the movie, my friends and I were just like, "YOU CAN PENETRATE ME ANY DAY, BAAAAAAY - BEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!111one"

Right?! Honestly, if the villain spoke with a heavy Southern accent and mentioned NINDZAMA in CAPS LOCK constantly, this movie would be absolute perfection! But even as it is, it’s incredible! Just thinking about things like those screen titles like
"13 hours later at the same location..."
or how the visuals and music kick in whenever Uma Thurman spots one of her targets for revenge...
Man! What a masterpiece! It's pure cheese incarnate!

That Gogo Yubari is so hawt, then they put her in a school uniform, and then there's that crazy fight, and then....
The best part is that the girl actually exists, even if I'll probably never see her in person.
What's even better is that this movie has more substance, weight, and cool factor (as my buddy puts it) than most Hollywood productions-.
It might be overkill if we added everything you mentioned, but hey, this is already as perfect as cheese.

And I love cheese-.

casualotter21 said:And even more than that! How could it not be a cool movie when it blatantly rips off elements from the White Wolf role-playing game, Vampire: The Masquerade? You know, that game where players take on the roles of decadent, wealthy, powerful, and angst-ridden vampires who deal with political intrigue and fighting werewolves in the modern world using every bit of the modern weaponry at their disposal... Naturally, they all do this in total secrecy so ordinary mortals never find out they exist.

I'm not just watching that movie; I am *watching* *that* *movie*.

Maybe they have a license or something.
I mean, who wouldn't want to be one of those decadent, wealthy, powerful, angst-ridden vampires dealing with conspiracies and werewolf fights in the modern world with an entire arsenal of high-tech weapons at their fingertips? Don't you?

I'll be watching it too. (Trying my best not to slip into a heavy regional accent here, really).

Maybe swing by Chicago first and I'll let you know if it's actually worth it...
I mean, how could a movie about Romeo and Juliet being reimagined as a werewolf vs. vampire feud be any good? Everyone's wearing leather, and Kate Winslet is in it... honestly, that alone is enough reason to go see it.
