Just a little medical joke for you :) in Health ·
A few idiots managed to coordinate an escape. They cleared every obstacle in their path until they hit the final stretch: a locked door. One of them pipes up:
- Let's just smash right through the lock!
The first guy charges headlong and splatters against the door. The second tries it and ends up just as wrecked. The third one just stands there, watching with a look of quiet wisdom. Eventually, one of the guys asks him:
- What about you? You not gonna give it a shot?
- Honestly... if I were you, I wouldn't risk getting smashed either. I'm pretty sure there's a key on the other side.

A man in his thirties walks into a general practitioner's office complaining of diarrhea. The doctor sends him off for some diagnostic testing. Once the results come back, the doctor stares at the charts, looks them over again, and finally delivers the verdict:
Alright, I have some grim news for you all. There’s a lethal strain of stomach flu going around—and this isn't just a minor bug. It’s a killer. You’re going to die from this thing.
So, what? From diarrhea? 😲 No way. You guys have to be joking. There's no possible way you got this wrong.
No, absolutely not. You people are going to be the death of me.
A somber man sits there, lost in thought, and says:
Doctor, once I'm gone, please just write down that I died of AIDS.
Good grief, man. You have no idea how much people are going to be talking about you.
Exactly. I’d rather people remember me going out like a legend instead of some pathetic loser.

Sure. Just hit me up whenever you guys find yourselves in Chicago or Cleveland. As for Bitches Brew—or whatever else we're feeling—we can probably iron out those details well before then.😉 😁

Man, some musicians played Acid Jazz at the Barokan Večer festival, and they were absolutely phenomenal. Seriously top-tier stuff. Even though the CD sounds great, nothing beats the pure, visceral rush of hearing Jazz live. It’s a whole different level of intensity. 😁

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. I started things off by picking up You're Under Arrest. It’s decent enough. Doesn't exactly feel like a trip to another galaxy, but it's definitely above average.

The real issue is how hard it is to actually find this stuff. You walk into a local record store and ask, "Hey, do you carry any Jazz?" and they just give you this blank stare—as if anyone actually listens to it anymore.

So, I’ve been circling back to the classics lately. Diving into some Acid jazz and then moving into Fusion jazz. Just picked up a few things from Miles Davis. Anyway, 👍

Anyone else here actually listening to this legend? If you are, which albums should I be looking for?

Also, what else should I grab if I want more Fusion jazz?

Sure, this is an outlier phenomenon in developed nations, but I suspect we'll see it here too. Basic necessities remain relatively affordable, while luxury items have skyrocketed. Alcohol, cigarettes—those things are considered luxuries now.

So you have to decide where your money actually goes: on a new sofa or on booze and smokes!
P.S. And if I actually had rent to pay, I’d be staring at another bill anyway. So 😕
Ronald Castillo5 said:Could you maybe explain how you think it’s possible to live a decent life here in America with $1667?

I’ve got a third floor in my house that my parents built—it was a total mess back then. Now, I’m slowly and carefully renovating it.

By the end of the month, I usually have about $1,500 left over $667. Naturally, that money gets set aside specifically for furniture.

On top of that, I put part of my car purchase on credit, so if you take those $1833 and subtract $433, that’s what my monthly payment looks like.

I honestly don't get people who struggle to make ends meet on $5k a month. It’s not a mystery; it’s just what happens when you $667 blow everything on nonsense.
It’s a shame I didn't stumble upon this thread sooner. At this point, everything has already been said.

I have zero interest in moving away. I can live a perfectly decent life here on my $5,000-something a month. Why would I go work in Germany just to earn double the salary while facing double the cost of living? And then learn German on top of it? No thanks.

I also completely agree with the point that nothing is ever just handed to you on a silver platter. If you want lunch or dinner, you actually have to work for it—and work hard. The older generations—my parents, my grandparents, and so on—just don't grasp how capitalism actually functions. To them, the government is always the culprit.

Find the phone number for the local health department "over there," give them a call, and ask. 😉

"There" is America. I'll try calling them; I managed to track down some info. Thanks! 👍

Honestly, Google is doing some pretty incredible things lately.

We’ve still got decent groundwater access around here, and we’re actually using it. That said, I’d definitely double-check the quality before getting too comfortable.

What does that actually entail? Which clinic are we talking about? And what kind of damage are we looking at, cost-wise?

Does anyone happen to know where and how I can submit drinking water for testing to check its safety?

Look, here’s the deal: If Company B issues a Bill of Exchange because they need to push back a payment, that document goes straight to Company A. Now, Company A isn't obligated to accept it—it's entirely their call. There are legitimate ways to collect on such an instrument. Once Company A holds that Bill of Exchange, they can simply sit on it until the maturity date and then collect the funds. In a gaming context, this means Company A eventually gets the full amount they are owed.

If Company A needs liquidity before that date hits, they can sell the Bill of Exchange or take it to a bank for discounting. Naturally, a bank isn't running a charity. Company A won't see the face value of the note; instead, they'll receive an amount reduced by the discount and processing fees that Bank of America will charge them. That’s just basic lending principles. Essentially, the bank provides the cash to Company A in lieu of waiting for Company B, which functions as a form of credit. Since Company A is the one seeking immediate cash and effectively deviating from the original terms, they shoulder the interest costs. Eventually, the bank settles the claim with Company B.

Using a Bill of Exchange is a conscious risk taken by both parties. But honestly, any extended delay in payment carries that same level of risk. These instruments have expiration dates, and the specific type of note dictates the legal framework for collection.

This is a very simplified version of how it works. For the granular details, you’ll need to dig into some textbooks, ask around in real life... or just head down to your local JPMorgan Chase and ask them for the specifics.

Huh. Sounds like hearing damage to me. Just go see an ENT specialist and see what they have to say about it.
Is it just a faint buzzing, or more like a constant hum?

Look, what you’re feeling is completely standard at first. For me, it was a three-week ordeal. It wasn't exactly agonizing, but there were moments where even basic hygiene felt like a massive chore.

Take some time to recover, then ease back into things. You can expect more of the same occasionally. Just don't let it get to you after the very first attempt. That's just how it goes. 👍

Well, why don't you snap a photo and upload it here so we can all take a look and give you an assessment. No need for a face shot—just the goods. 😁
