briskskipper27 said:Islamic fanatics in Syria have launched a full-scale campaign to wipe out priceless archaeological treasures. We’re talking Byzantine mosaics, Greek sculptures, Roman statues—all gone because they depict human figures, which clashes with their radical ideology.
Reports suggest this systematic destruction of ancient history is likely the worst case of cultural genocide we've seen since the Taliban blew up those Buddha statues in Bamyan back in 2001 for the exact same religious reasons.
In mid-January, ISIS militants—basically Taliban-style extremist gangs holding large chunks of northeastern Syria—targeted a 6th-century Byzantine mosaic near the city of Raqqa by the Euphrates River.
Word is, some businessman from Turkey actually showed up in town hoping to buy the mosaic. But these extremists didn't even know the thing existed until they stumbled upon it; instead of selling it, they just used explosives to level it. Now, it's just dust.

It isn't just ISIS doing this; Al-Nusra, the Islamic Front, and several other factions are involved too. There isn't much difference between them since they are all driven by Salafist ideology, fueled by Saudi and Qatari petrodollars, and backed by Western political support in the fight against Bashar al-Assad.

It is truly tragic what is happening to the cultural and historical heritage of that region. But honestly, you can't expect anything else from people who don't value human life at all, where killing someone is as easy as saying hello.

I absolutely loved this song when I was a kid. 🤦 The cursed 90s 😁😁

Does anyone remember the name of that movie where the guy turns into a wolf at the very end of the music video?

Yeah, I noticed most people lean toward The Crimson Idol. For me, The Last Command was their first record, and I probably played it more than all their other albums combined. 🙂

That album feels "deeper," especially compared to the first two, which are a bit rawer (not that being raw is a bad thing). Personally, Wild Child from The Last Command is their best track, but the debut definitely holds its own with Animal, I Wanna Be Somebody, and Love Machine.

Oh, it just hit me... Cries in the Night is a terrible song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnlZ7XK_uVE

Are there still W.A.S.P. fans left here, or did everyone move into retirement homes? 🙂 😬

The Final Command album is incredible. 🙂

Widowmaker

Blind in Texas 🙂

The Last Command is a great album, and the First LP is also excellent—actually, I might prefer the debut a bit more. But neither can compare to "The Crimson Idol" in my book.

From the "The Headless Children" album, which is also top-tier, here is this one:

Nickelback and Creed are fine, but honestly, you might as well throw Puddle of Mudd into the mix too...

Alice in Chains - Down in a Hole
I give this part of me for you
Sand rains down and here I sit
Holding rare flowers
In a tomb... in bloom

Down in a hole and I don't know if I can be saved
See my heart I decorate it like a grave
You don't understand who they
Thought I was supposed to be
Look at me now a man
Who wont let himself be

Down in a Hole, feelin' so small
Down in a Hole, losin' control
I'd like to fly,
But my wings have been so denied

Down in a hole and they've put all
The stones in their place
I've eaten the sun so my tongue
Has been burned of the taste
I have been guilty
Of kicking myself in the teeth
I will speak no more
Of my feelings beneath

Down in a Hole, feelin' so small
Down in a Hole, losin' control
I'd like to fly but my
Wings have been so denied

Bury me softly in this womb
Oh I want to be inside of you
I give this part of me for you
Oh I want to be inside of you
Sand rains down and here I sit
Holding rare flowers (oh I want to be inside of you)
In a tomb... in bloom
Oh I want to be inside...

Down in a Hole, feelin' so small
Down in a Hole, losin' my soul
Down in a Hole, feelin' so small
Down in a Hole, outta control
I'd like to fly but my
Wings have been so denied
amberranger said:I caught them three times in a single week—nearly double digits if you count them all up. They were definitely at their most relaxed during the Guns N' Roses show, playing an awesome set (I’ve never seen them go that hard on "Nutshell" or "Down in a Hole" at festivals before). Though, the sound quality was pretty rough. The vocal doubles sounded great, and Dave is just such a legend. They played with the most intensity two days ago in Prague, whereas at Lollapalooza they seemed to be just going through the motions because of the crowd, even though the sound there was actually the best.

Trust me, compared to the crowds in Austria or the Czech Republic, yesterday was incredible.

The main stage setup is positioned exactly the same way it was back in 2008 and 2009.

They had a better show in Austria 😉

Or maybe in Germany, so it’s no surprise they aren't hitting it as hard when touring Europe. That said, the shows in Italy were absolutely insane (Rome, Turin, Padua).

The older, worn-out Chain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxMqkJv-2Kw 🙄🙄 just isn't it.

That's great that someone finally brought her up. Her best work is definitely right alongside "In a Darkened Room."
The first two albums. 👍👍Well... even the Subhuman race can make it through.

Holiday, No One Like You, Send Me an Angel, and Big City Nights are definitely my favorite tracks of theirs. It’s a shame they’re retiring, but after 40 incredible years on the road, they’ve probably earned some downtime. Either way, they are a true legendary band.
I really hope Greenland stays part of Denmark. They already have plenty of autonomy, and since the locals have so much control over their own affairs, they should be perfectly happy with how things are.
