Maybe try doing a clean reinstall of your NVIDIA High-Definition Graphics driver.
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
I’ve been using this little utility for a while now and honestly, I've never run into a single issue... You might want to check out the video tutorial first—if you just follow along and set everything up exactly like they show in the clip, you shouldn't have any trouble at all. But before you do anything else, make sure you grab the Rufus portable version

HERE

Once you've got the program downloaded, just follow the steps laid out HERE

What kind of software were you using to move those Windows files over to the USB drive?

You're going to need some drivers for the Wi-Fi too... which Dell model are you running?

Hmm.. for instance, this...

So, you just head over to my link, find whichever version of Windows you're looking for, and then give that seller a call to see how they want to handle things—it’ll probably be a direct transfer to their account, and then they'll shoot you the product key via SMS or email. Just make sure you tell them exactly which Windows version you need the key for, okay?

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 32Bit/64Bit COA with Activation Key

So, that eBay link you shared—you'd basically be getting the Windows software along with the product key... But honestly? I'm just not sure how reliable it actually is. Who knows if the key has been used before or what else might be up with it? You might run into some annoying activation issues, or then again, it might work perfectly fine without any hiccups at all. It really just comes down to whether you want to take that chance or not 🙂

Maybe give DirectX a shot...

You can easily grab a Windows 7 installation—it’s actually pretty simple to find the original, legitimate setup files for free without any hassle...

For instance, check out this site:

The most important thing is having a valid product key; if it hasn't been used before, you should be able to activate Windows just fine. As for your question about using eBay to find one? I'm honestly not sure how that works or if it's a good idea...

It doesn't really matter if you've been running those same graphics drivers for a year now—honestly, just wipe them out, reboot your PC, and then grab a fresh install from the site to see if that fixes things.
The first one you mentioned is just a soft cloth—don't take this the wrong way, friend, but you're overthinking this like you're trying to pick out a Ferrari when you really just need something to wipe a counter 😁

You shouldn't run into any issues running an AMD Radeon R9 270 X alongside an i3 processor—though I will say, that power supply is a bit of a headache. Luckily, since the components you listed aren't exactly power hogs, everything should turn out just fine.

Have you gone through the whole ritual yet—completely wiping out those old graphics drivers, rebooting the machine, then heading straight to the manufacturer's site to grab the latest versions and install them?

Honestly, you’re usually better off grabbing the latest driver straight from the website right away—but hey, no big deal if you didn't 😁 as long as everything is running smoothly...
Man, I can't even find where the drivers or BIOS updates are hosted on your motherboard manufacturer's site... Anyway—did you make sure you installed the very latest BIOS version? If you did, then there's a pretty good chance the processor is just toast. 🤷 To figure out if it's actually a hardware failure, maybe try testing it in someone else's rig or grab a cheap LGA 775 motherboard to see if the system actually boots up with that CPU. Unfortunately, that's about all the advice I can give you right now.
New motherboard recommendations? in Desktops ·
Personally, whenever I swap out a motherboard, I always go ahead and wipe the hard drive—I mean, if you're switching to a different chipset, you're looking at an entirely different set of drivers and all that stuff, right?

Everything looks compatible, so you’re good to go without any worries. If I were in your shoes, though—just a thought—I'd probably grab two 4GB sticks of RAM to take advantage of dual channel mode, or maybe just one single 8GB stick.

Is this the power supply you're looking at?

What exactly do you mean by an unsuccessful BIOS update? Are you getting a specific error message or something else entirely?

At stock settings—assuming you aren't overclocking—that card pulls about 250W. Since your power supply delivers 38A on the 12V rail, giving you 456W, you should be in pretty good shape there. As long as you aren't running a power-hungry processor or pushing it with an overclock, you probably won't have any issues at all... but just to be sure, what kind of CPU are you rocking? Is it overclocked? And what else is in the rest of your build?

Your motherboard is an ASUS P5PE-VM, and unfortunately, there aren't any drivers available for Windows 7—the support really cuts off at Windows Vista. You could try downloading the Vista ones and seeing if they actually work during installation, though I wouldn't hold my breath...

On top of that, you're running a pretty old processor—an Intel Pentium 4 with just a single core. To keep Windows 7 from crawling, you’d likely have to disable Aero and several other features, which would leave you with a "dated" version of the OS—not exactly ideal, right? Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I’d just wipe the drive, do a fresh install of Windows XP, grab the necessary drivers, and call it a day...
Which Wi-Fi extender should I buy? in IT Support ·
If you’re looking for an IT shop—say, if you happen to be out in a suburb like Arlington—you could swing by HGSpot. If you're closer to the downtown area, Centro.hr is a solid bet, or you can always hit up an Intel specialist over in Jordan.
