😁

And why go about it this way? We could have actually had a discussion—especially since it adds more value to the competition—and honestly, there aren't any serious opponents who would resort to such blatant cheating anyway. But no, you just decided to play dictator, making and enforcing your own arbitrary rules. It’s essentially "I decided to cheat, so I’m going to keep cheating." If anyone tries to complain... well, I can already see things are going to get messy 🙂

🤣

p.s. half the teams are basically just clones of their teammates anyway 🙂
Terry Carter2 said:I’ve already made my point clear: strategic agreements and tactical maneuvering are all part of the game, provided they actually stay within the rules!

only if there is a formal complaint from andisadvantaged player>

Well, it really comes down to how one interprets the fine print. You seem to read the rule as meaning anyone could be affected—whereas my view is that no teammate should be put at a disadvantage. 🤷

If it had explicitly stated

only in the event of a complaint fromdisadvantaged players

then we would be looking at a completely different scenario... but as it stands, 🤷

How am I supposed to go through the trouble of copying Pat's work—only to turn around and file a grievance against myself as the aggrieved party? For the sake of clarity, I might need to interpret this rule once more for the record. 😁
William Bennett53 said:I recall suggesting a rather radical solution that would have elegantly handled this issue: if it’s discovered that someone has simply copied another user's predictions for the same race weekend, they lose five secondary points. Let them play their little strategic games if they want to.

asdf - copying others hasn't ever yielded anything besides petty arguments during the championship. Why on earth would one of your teammates bother copying your picks? Do you honestly believe you'll outperform him in every single race? If that's the case, you're either the forum's version of Sebastian Vettel or your teammate is the forum's version of Felipe Massa. Either way, you gain absolutely nothing from cheating.

If teammates were actually copying predictions, how would we even distribute the points? Surely, if they both claim the win, they can't both take 25 points—not if I'm getting a share too. If they argue there was no "DNF" due to copying, then they should both just split the 18. That approach solves the problem just as well.

In order... 🤣
shadowhawk24 said:I basically agree with Terry Carter2 that it all boils down to who you define as the aggrieved party.
Take an example: let's say Douglas Patel32 coordinates with his teammate and they both submit identical predictions. Suppose those predictions actually turn out to be spot on, and they snag two out of the top three spots. In that scenario, since the two of them colluded, neither would feel cheated. However, someone else—say me, or any other competitor finishing right behind them—would have every right to claim they were screwed out of a podium finish or even just points. It doesn't matter which. In that specific case, that third party is the one being harmed.🤷
Ultimately, if teammates want to cheat off one another, let them; I’m certainly not going to go running to the officials to complain about it. But, for the sake of maintaining order and integrity within the competition, it would be wise to prevent this kind of confusion or tension. Even if it means we need to rephrase that specific rule to close the loophole.🙂

But that’s exactly the point—there shouldn't be any sense of unfairness if teammates choose to cooperate. It’s like saying Lewis Hamilton or Sebastian Vettel is being "cheated" because Felipe Massa has to move out of the way for Fernando Alonso. That’s a matter between Massa and Alonso, isn't it?

My initial strategy was to split my picks with Pat; she was leaning toward Red Bull Ferrari and Mercedes, while I went with McLaren, Red Bull, and Lotus. Since McLaren performed so poorly, we could play it safe next week by splitting up again—or we could both go all-in on the same picks. If we hit them, we walk away with a huge haul of points, and the rules definitely allow for it.🤷 🤣
Terry Carter2 said:Fine, go ahead and rewrite it then!
😁

Look, don't mess with me here—I am asking you seriously 🙂

if I’ve misinterpreted the rules, please let me know 🤷

If we both failed to nail the prediction in round one, but we both happen to hit the result later on—we're still back in the running, right? 🤷
Terry Carter2 said:If everyone would just coordinate their strategies and stick to the established rules of engagement, we wouldn't have half these problems. It’s simple: play within the framework, align your tactics, and everything would run smoothly.
😁

I think I’ll just copy Pat's next forecast—according to the rules, she has to lodge a complaint first for me to even face a penalty. If she doesn't complain, then there's no penalty, I guess.🙂
Terry Carter2 said:It’s simply against the PDF rules!
😁

What’s even the point of having teams if teammates can't coordinate—or more importantly—develop a shared, cohesive strategy?

And what on earth are these "PDF rules" supposed to be? It feels like we're long overdue for a change in game modes. 🙂
William Bennett53 said:Just like whenever there’s a bit of favoritism at play, I wanted to make sure this was eye-catching. 😁

What exactly does Joe have to gain from the Cup if he failed to submit his forecast on time? Look, if the whole point of the Cup is for him to suggest an alternative scoring system, then fine, let’s go with that. But if he starts deviating from the rest of the established rules, then the whole thing loses its connection to the championship and fails its primary purpose.

Max was credited with 0 (0) points, while I didn't even get 😢

Aren't you supposed to be interpreting the rulebook rather than just copying it?

I am starving 😢 😢
William Bennett53 said:Listen, everyone, here is how we are going to handle this: Joe’s Cup will continue for the foreseeable future.
The reasons behind this have already been laid out, but they can be summarized quite simply: this isn't actually a "new" competition in any meaningful sense. It doesn't demand extra effort from the players, nor does it change the roster or the gameplay mechanics used in the championship. The outcome of Joe's Cup will merely serve as an alternative way to tally points, much like how the tocan trophy functioned previously.

However, to prevent any potential abuse of this thread or any unwanted tangents, this topic will now be used exclusively for publishing alternative standings and—should Joe (or anyone else) feel the need—providing general commentary on the results once the race is over.

To ensure this stays organized, I am closing the thread now and clearing out everything that isn't a result announcement (those posts will be moved over here). Once the race concludes and the math is finished, Joe will reach out to Terry Carter2 or myself to have us reopen the thread for the official results and any subsequent commentary.

That's a lot of blue text! Stop being so dramatic and just write normally. 🙂

Joe, why wasn't I included in your cup?

Regarding the championship—is it possible for members of the same team to submit the same prediction? It seems logical to me that they could; if there aren't any formal complaints, then there shouldn't be any issues with collusion.
Instead of just adding a single point for hitting a specific position, it would make more sense to use a multiplier—say x2—to actually reflect how much weight that position carries 🙂

especially since we all know who really runs this championship 😁
What are you losers even playing at? You managed to guess two out of the first three? Big deal—both Ferrari and darkmarlin16, along with a few others, nailed that top three. Your track record is pretty weak, and the standings don't lie. So just stfu.
cosmicridge5 said:Qual is actually on Saturday at 7 AM, not 1 PM.😁

Anyway, I guess it’s great that you did such thorough research on the rules, but you still haven't actually submitted your prediction.🙏 🙏 🤣

I totally passed out—just completely conked out. I ended up crashing right on the living room floor—computer running, TV on, lights blazing. I was stone-cold sober, just absolutely exhausted.
What are the specific rules regarding direct quotes? Could someone please copy and paste a section from the bylaws here—I don't mean to be rude, but I'm a bit pressed for time right now and haven't had a chance to dig through them myself.
stormybadger8 said:Old news here... the standard explanation has always been that the deadline has to hit before Free Practice 3 kicks off.
Personally, I don't see much point to it either,🤷
but hey, it is what it is.

Does anyone actually participating in this discussion play the game? As far as I can recall, it ended up this way simply because it suited Seth!

Personally, I’d set the deadline for Sunday, an hour before the race. Or, if we're being strict, an hour before qualifying!
Is the deadline for submitting predictions really Saturday at 3 AM? Or rather, late Friday night? It feels a bit silly—I mean, wouldn't it make more sense to have the cutoff by Saturday at 1 PM, just an hour before qualifying starts?

How much longer until we get started—does anyone know when that first race actually kicks off? I’ve completely lost track of time lately!

How is this even possible?

If the rule says a three-day suspension kicks in at 100 points—why am I still here? 🤷

Is it just a case of "referee's discretion"—or maybe some weird way of balancing the scales? 😕

That Williams bodywork is basically just a cutout in the floor, which is perfectly legal.😳
So what's the issue? If a hole in the floor is fine, then this should be too.🤷

If the design is truly identical, where's the issue? Even if Williams just cuts a hole in the floor... 😬
