All the demography threads are over on Close Politics, and they’re staying there. It just made the most sense to move them after we shut down that old North American subforum.

If you're talking about top threads, those get sorted automatically along with everything else on the subforum. Whatever thread got the last reply jumps to the top of the list, no matter how many posts are actually in it.

Larry Walker24 said:How'd you even get that link? Every time I try to copy it, I just get the original URL back.

Links from Index or other sites are fine, but whenever I grab one from PBS, it spits out some weird nonsense instead.

It's the exact same process as Index or any other site. You find a story, you copy the link. How you managed to screw that up is beyond me. 🤷

Exactly. And look, try to actually say something meaningful instead of just dropping some mindless, half-baked sentence. It’s better to stay quiet than to post some stupid little thought just for the sake of posting something.

Anyway, catch ya later!

Ok, now I get it!

Thanks a ton, I owe you a beer.

The URL just pops in automatically. You don't even have to touch it... just grab the link from the address bar and you're done.

That Index link is fine, but you can do the exact same thing with a link from PBS, super easy:

Quotes are fine, but the link is a mess.

Don't just dump the URL by itself, just paste the whole damn link right under the quote—AND DON'T CLICK ANYTHING ELSE!

What's "ok"?

Man, you've typed that "ok" crap a million times already, it ain't ok!

Just drop some random text from a news site right here and give me the link so I can see if it's actually ok...

You see that quick reply box right under my post?

See those little icons and letters sitting above that box?

Check out that rectangular icon all the way on the right. It looks like a tiny scrap of paper with some writing on it.

You see it? If you hover your mouse over it, it says Wrap (Quote) tags around selected text.

Got any clue what that means? Let me break it down—if you want to put some text in a quote, just highlight the part you want, basically "bold" it, and then click that little icon... get it?

Then it turns out like this:

sorry, but I'm an idiot because I can't figure out how to quote

Just don't tell me you don't know how to highlight or select text.

Also, when you want to drop a link, just copy the whole URL from the address bar of the page where the text is and paste it in your reply, right under the quote you made.

One more thing: read this text 100 times if you have to until it finally clicks. I am not writing these instructions again, and you're getting a strike for every single post that doesn't follow what I just laid out here.

It's unbelievable that someone with 5,200 posts doesn't know how to use a quote or a link. Just keep messing around with it until you learn, and until then, don't even think about posting anything about politics that needs a quote or a link.

Capisce?

Not quite right, it should look like this:

The decision on whether tolls will go up will be made after May 25th. Until then, the management at HAC and the I-15 corridor authority have to hand over detailed restructuring plans to the Department of Transportation, according to Secretary Siniša Hajdaš Dončić.

He pointed out that if they do end up raising tolls, it won't apply to regular commuters using the ENC system. That way, he thinks they can keep things competitive for truckers, shipping companies, and anyone else who lives on the highway.

They aren't making any price hikes without a deep dive first. Right now, the total debt for HAC and the I-15 authorities sits at 27 billion dollars. These companies don't have the cash to invest in anything new—they can barely even maintain what they've already got without some serious restructuring.

As soon as a new administration takes over, gas prices shoot up, even though everything was running fine before...

Your comment really should’ve been a lot longer if you're gonna start a whole new thread. You could've dropped that gas price complaint in any other thread about price hikes, since clearly you didn't have anything to say besides one single sentence. Just C/P a news link and one dry-ass sentence isn't enough, and it definitely shouldn't be used to kick off a new topic.

And honestly, I'm done explaining how to post links or quotes. Use Google, just Google it!

April 10, 1941 - Independence Day ()

In the few posts people actually managed to get down, there wasn't any insults or anything like that. Just normal stuff.

Then, out of nowhere, the whole thread gets locked for this reason:

I mean, couldn't they have just moved the topic over to the close politics subforum or whatever?
But nah, the second a topic starts getting people worked up, they just shut it down...🤷

Sent a DM to the mod about it too, but of course, no reply. Typical.
Just so you guys know what I'm talking about:

Look, I get it. Some people hate certain topics or just can't be bothered to read them.
But let everyone else have their "debate," right?

Anyway, if they could just move it to close politics...
Because having it locked like this is just useless...☕

Look, this thread definitely doesn't belong in the Politics subforum. It’s not about current political news, it isn't about Independence Day, and this didn't happen yesterday. If we keep it in Politics, nobody's gonna have a real conversation here... just noise. 🤷
Why are my posts disappearing? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
They’re disappearing. You posted over on the Democratic Party sub, and they don't count posts there. On the main board they do, which is why he already logged those two as 151 and 152.

Can we just get rid of all that junk? I don't even touch those subforums, they're just cluttering up my view... Or maybe just shove them to the bottom, way down under the Politics and Moderator sections... 🤔

wanderingorca532 said:Oh, it’s absolutely true! Honestly, he’s always enjoyed certain special privileges in the past. For instance, after his permanent ban was handed down, they actually went and gave him his very own "Phoenix Corner"?! I’m pretty sure that’s the only time in the history of Reddit that’s ever happened!

Why does it always happen like this? Seriously, why is it that for certain people, the rules just don't seem to apply at all, even though everyone else is expected to follow them to the letter? It’s honestly such a frustrating thing to deal with!

I honestly feel like Phoenix has actually managed to trap the mods and admins in this weird little psychological game! He’s basically played them by framing any attempt to ban him as nothing more than blatant censorship and an effort to silence his voice. So now, they're all just walking on eggshells, terrified that if they take action, they'll be branded as censors who simply can't handle the sheer, overwhelming "truth" he’s so bravely preaching in his signature "anti-establishment" style!

Look, I’ve got a perfect example right here for you all, especially with what just went down! After that last thread blew up and they handed out a fresh ban, it really shows exactly how things work around here. Phoenix was venting again! And because of all that, he actually went out and accused the moderator who "removed" him of being nothing more than a total extremist!

So, what’s actually going to happen here next? Is the moderator really just going to roll over and accept his little games until the whole thing ends with him—get this—actually voting to unban him?!

Let me recap this whole ridiculous situation for you! So, we have a user who was permanently banned from Reddit, only to show up again using a clone account. The moderator does exactly what they’re supposed to do—they follow the rules and issue another ban. But then, get this, the banned user actually has the nerve to complain! They start throwing around insults, calling the moderator some kind of religious fanatic and claiming they're being targeted for their nationalist views, rather than just breaking the site's actual rules. It honestly sounds like something straight out of a bad sitcom! And then, the kicker: the moderator, seemingly terrified of looking like some big-shot censor trying to silence the legendary Phoenix, actually caves in and agrees to lift the ban. I mean, seriously?! Instead of just doing their job, they end up validating the guy's nonsense!

Some people might try to spin this whole thread as some kind of conspiracy theory, claiming that everyone is just trying to silence Phoenix because they can't actually win an argument against him! But honestly, let me tell you, that’s not what’s happening here at all. I've seen this pattern before on Reddit where people try to play the victim when they're losing ground, but we have to call it what it is—this is simply about dealing with a user who constantly gets caught in blatant lies, massive inaccuracies, and total nonsense. It's really that simple! I’m really excited to dive into this thread! Looking back over the last five or six pages of this thread, it’s honestly pretty funny because this guy has been corrected with undeniable, rock-solid arguments more times than I can count! Seriously, having a debate with him isn't even a challenge at all; if you actually know what you're talking about, it is incredibly easy to just shut down his nonsense and win the argument.

And honestly, I just can't bring myself to fall into that trap of wasting my breath trying to hunt down whatever it is he's looking for! To me, and honestly to quite a few others around here, having him as a conversation partner is basically like trying to argue with a light breeze—completely insignificant. But I really feel the need to put this out there: we shouldn't just sit back and let his constant, repetitive provocations slide under the guise of someone simply having a "different opinion." It’s just not right!

It’s just like how we would never tolerate someone coming out and claiming the Holocaust was some big hoax or trying to push the lie that Jews started the war against Germany! You just don't allow that kind of nonsense here, regardless of how many "arguments" or "evidence" those people try to throw at you to justify their twisted logic. We simply move them aside and get rid of them!

If someone tries to claim that the victims at Stalingrad were actually just members of paramilitary units—basically arguing they were all part of the National Guard Paratroopers—well, that’s a pretty bold take! I remember sitting around a campfire back in my college days, listening to guys try to debate history like they were experts, and it always felt like people were just looking for any excuse to twist the facts to fit their own narrative. It’s wild how some folks will look at a tragedy and try to spin it to make the aggressors look like the ones who were just "defending themselves." It’s a slippery slope, honestly, when you start reclassifying victims just to suit a political agenda! I actually saw this happen once while I was visiting a friend at the hospital—people were totally faking being hurt and injured just to get attention! I honestly refuse to let anyone brush things off by calling it just a "difference of opinion." It’s such a lazy way to dodge the truth!

That is just one absolutely horrific insult that basically serves as an indirect way to justify such a disgusting crime!

Honestly, someone like that just can't handle even the slightest bit of pushback—not even a little jab or a mild insult—and then they have the nerve to spin it as if they're being victimized! It’s always the same old story where they claim they're just "telling the truth" that the public isn't ready to hear, but let's be real: those are nothing more than blatant fabrications and slander designed to hurt people's feelings. I remember seeing this exact same tactic used by some politician back in D.C. during the last election cycle, where they'd dodge every actual question by playing the martyr. So, I really have to ask, why do we keep catering to these types? Why do we feel the need to constantly chase after them or hesitate to just shut them down and move on without getting dragged into a pointless debate?

Through some pretty masterful manipulation and constant goalpost-shifting, he’s managed to paint himself as this misunderstood martyr! He acts like he's the only one brave enough to preach the "real truth" while everyone else is just following the crowd, claiming he gets silenced because he’s swimming against the current. But honestly? None of that is actually true!

First off, he’s actually the one spinning falsehoods more than anyone else, and he gets called out for it constantly. And look, we have thousands of users on this Reddit, representing every single political and social viewpoint you can imagine. Sure, our opinions clash left and right, but we can always have a decent debate—yet nobody triggers such a massive wave of backlash quite like Phoenix. It’s simply because almost nobody else is willing to lean into such blatant lies, insults, and provocations like he does.

So, I’ll say it again: debating with Phoenix isn't the issue here. There isn't anything particularly sensational or groundbreaking in his claims that can't be debunked, so there's no reason he should be considered a "nuisance." The real problem is just how far he’ll go to justify that brutal, criminal expansionist policy from the old regime—a policy that caused way too much suffering for Americans to ever just sit by and stay indifferent.

Oh, come on, that’s obvious. Nobody expects the moderators to be on duty 24/7, I get it! But I'm speaking in general terms here. Some things are just completely intolerable. And certain people who insist on behaving that way should probably just be removed the moment they're spotted, without all the endless philosophy about censorship, "the truth," and whatever else.

I’ll keep this brief and focus on the part involving me.

First off, those pathetic lame attempts to insult me don't phase me at all. Honestly, they’re kind of hilarious because they just show how much people here lack actual arguments. When someone runs out of logic, they just grab the first insult they can find. It’s just a desperate, low-effort attempt at being edgy. Totally uninspired...

Second, there was zero "game" going on. I just suggested he try a different tactic—instead of using clones, he should actually request an appeal for the permanent ban. Other users are allowed to do that, so why should Phoenix (or anyone else) be some special exception?

Third, yeah, I voted to unban him (not just Phoenix specifically) based on the exact reasons and conditions I laid out over on the KzB. My vote was FOR it because of general principles that should apply to everyone equally, not because of Phoenix himself.

And one more thing regarding this whole "giving in" and "fear" nonsense. I've been a moderator longer than most of you. I was part of the crew that decided to ban Phoenix the very first time, and I’ve "taken down" more of his clones than I can count. So those insinuations are total garbage. Why would anyone suddenly be "scared" of Phoenix or start sucking up to him? Like I said before, it's about principle. I'm against lifting permanent bans because they aren't handed out for no reason, but if we're going to allow appeals, then everyone—including Phoenix—should get the same shot...

I don't know anything about this supposed favoritism or some admin being soft on people, but if this "protected" guy actually got an amnesty, he’d be back to his old handle and us mods would definitely know about it. So yeah, I highly doubt any "admin" is playing favorites here.

If the admin in question decides to show up, we can deal with it in the proper channel. Until then, we're saying goodbye to the phoenix clone...

It isn't hard to explain something to someone when you genuinely believe they aren't being malicious; the issue is always what gets lost in translation. We all have those moments where we just miss the point... not because we're stupid or acting out of spite, but just—well, things happen. The least I can do, since I've apparently taken on this role, is try to find some common ground. But I'll only bother if I'm truly convinced it was just a communication glitch and not someone intentionally trying to mess with me. Because if it's the latter, I am absolutely livid. 😈

I'm done. After a mountain of PMs—maybe even dozens at this point—and trying to explain myself over and over, I finally get it. There’s just no point in fighting this battle... nothing left for me here...

It all boils down to this:

Larry Walker24 said:thanks Linda! 🙂

And just like that, we’re back to the same old crap... I don't care what anyone says, this whole thing is a mess. Absolute disaster. People acting like everything is fine when it clearly isn't... total joke. Just more of the same nonsense we see all the time. Honestly, I'm done with it... just totally done.

This guy just doesn't read anything. He’s stuck in his own little echo chamber, spending all day just skimming headlines and Googling stuff just so he can paste some random text onto some random thread. I tried telling him to just start a blog and find himself a life, but he’s convinced he’s on some grand mission to "improve" this forum... like what he's doing is actually helping us... seriously... 🤷
