Alright then! 👍
Though, I guess a scrap between Jamie and the big guy from Animal Collective would be more interesting.

they didn't turn me into a Hunter S. Thompson
but more like a messy mom with chaotic kids? which, I guess, is also pretty cool 😎
Oh man, they were absolute legends!
though I guess Destroyer felt kind of lackluster after them.

I guess someone once said drugs were bad, too? 😉
honestly, I don't know. just some mediocre weather in Seattle—super bleak, nothing but gray skies and rocks 😁
wiredfalcon2 said:I guess any random guy could probably step in and replace that vocalist/guitarist combo—honestly, maybe even a total amateur.
It's tough. That guy is just straight-up unhinged—I guess. 😵
I’d honestly just be happy if someone could explain what exactly makes this so good.
Honestly, those kinds of questions aren't really worth much—I guess. You'd probably have a better time just sticking to their first album; might actually be more your style.
wiredfalcon2 said:So, is it actually good, or do you just like it because it’s alternative?
Do you guys even listen to this at home?
I listen to it—and I like it. It's got an atmosphere. But live? That's way more intense. Honestly, I think I'd enjoy it even if the album itself was total garbage.
Kenneth Edwards3 said:The worst ones were Guapo and Fantomas in New York City—way too short, plus those intros for every song dragged on forever...
🙄 That was back in 2004—those "intros" were just Delirium Cordia bits, for crying out loud. The show itself was actually great though :2up:

so, seriously, where are you even getting your stuff 😁
You just can't escape comparing it to the book when you're dealing with one of the greatest novels ever written. I guess Kubrick's mistake was even attempting to adapt something like this in the first place. It’s not even that translating the novel into a screenplay is a true art form—given the subject matter and the censorship issues—it’s just... well, it seems impossible to do right because the prose is so layered. There's too much linguistic play; the book is really the only medium where Lolita actually feels right. 🙂
There's that scene near the beginning where Humbert accidentally touches Lolita's hand. In the book, that moment is described perfectly—the details, how he feels, her reaction, the tension in the air—it's incredible. In the movie, the scene lasts about a second—they touch, they share a weird look, she walks away. That's why the film doesn't quite hit the mark for me—Lolita is such an amazing novel because of those tiny, internal moments, not because of the plot itself. And that’s what gets lost in the film.

Not necessarily—it might just be an issue with linear compensation, where a high score in one area basically cancels out a low one in another, I guess.
geek mode off
well, up to 14.6...
The best—probably Zu and Mackaye (I always forget how good Lutenbacher and the guys were 😍 )
The worst—hmm. Probably Tarwater too, I guess. Just because it was incredibly boring.
but there's still plenty of time left in 2005.
Carol Jackson45 said:Man, you guys are talking about what everyone looks like—now I feel like I missed out again. 🙂
Okay, now you're overdoing it—I mean, it shouldn't be *that* hard to stumble upon something while you're sleeping, I guess.
Melissa Collins41 said:but honestly, the drummer is definitely the coolest part of that band..
forget the drummer—the bassist is the one who's T R U E! 🙂
The Rusty Anchor was actually pretty cool on stage 😎
Kevin Chavez3 said:Shy. 😁
ugh 😍
and is this Ivan guy being rude 😁 (what does "bangav" even mean—I assumed it wasn't meant negatively 😬 )
Kevin Chavez3 said:Nicholas Perez33, get a grip! 🙂
Are you even straight, or what? 😬
Melissa Collins41 said:it’s not even about him—I guess the waistline sits just right on him anyway😬
well, then I guess it's pretty much perfect😬
