Complaint against moderator Taylor Swift - The Notebook in Feedback & Suggestions ·
@Michelle Wilson50/">@@Michelle Wilson50, I didn't delete your posts myself—a colleague handled that.
I actually agree with his assessment; those posts really should have been removed since they weren't adding anything constructive to the conversation.
The FBI isn't a support group; it's a place for discussion. Posts like "hang in there, things will get better" don't contribute anything to a meaningful debate.

@placidfox55/">@@placidfox55 — if memory serves, I’ve had to clear out your posts that consisted of nothing but emojis or an emoji paired with "I agree." That is essentially useless spam, and we apply the removal rule to everyone equally. Furthermore, if I recall correctly, after I removed those posts, you intentionally continued to repost them, arguing that you had a right to express your agreement.

The forum rules are available for everyone to read, and it isn't my "job" to provide a tutorial on how to properly participate in a discussion.

That’s all from me.
Moderating a Reddit subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I actually enjoy Reddit and its various threads. 😍
I feel bad about the state of this Reddit subforum because it really used to be a great space; I truly hope they clean up the clutter and bring it back to its former glory.

gentlehound9 said:It was basically just me and Kate Foster12 keeping it afloat. We were essentially moderating without any actual tools, manually stepping in to tell people stuff didn't belong there or reminding them to use quotes properly since the actual mods weren't doing their jobs.
The admins—well, until we called them out—had basically just checked out from the entire subforum. They let it turn into a total wasteland instead of actually enforcing the rules.

There is a specific reporting function for a reason.
Users shouldn't try to act as moderators, regardless of how qualified they think they are for the role.
Personally, I find posts that don't belong here just as irritating as the posts that call them out.

If you want to complain about the moderation team, there's a formal channel for that. You shouldn't do it in random threads, as that ruins the quality of those discussions just as much as the posts you're complaining about.
The only thing I don't understand is why these public call-outs aren't being penalized themselves. 🤷

Why was I banned?? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
The President suspended you due to an accumulation of points.

The specific violation that led to your suspension—which I already explained to you via Messenger—was trolling in the infidelity discussion thread. You jumped right into the middle of an ongoing argument with a highly offensive remark claiming that many people in that thread were "panicking to escape their own selves" (referring to the portion of the quoted post you bolded).
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy regarding provocative posts in that specific topic, a rule clearly laid out in the opening post.

I stand by the decision to flag you for trolling and, as I mentioned in our private messages, I have no intention of apologizing for it.
Furthermore, if anyone here owed an apology, it would be for the content and sheer volume of the private messages you sent me, which I am more than willing to hand over to the admins for review. Personally, I don't feel an apology is necessary, so there’s no point in wasting breath on it.

This response is intended for the admins so they are fully aware of the situation; consider this my final word in our correspondence.
FBI - Thread locking policies in Feedback & Suggestions ·
gentlepuma20 said:Any lockout can be justified; the real question is whether the rule is that moderators decide when a conversation has lost its purpose, or if users should be allowed to ramble indefinitely while mods simply clean up the trolling and off-topic spam. It used to be the latter.

Regarding the Green Party, as I’ve already stated, our general policy is to lock threads once they’ve deflated—those moments where constructive dialogue dies and the feed becomes nothing but trolls, insults, and mindless noise (which, frankly, isn't hard to spot when it happens).
On top of that, we lock or delete obvious troll bait (for instance, "I slept with my son-in-law. Is there any chance my daughter will accept me as a second wife in their marriage?"😍, or those threads where an author just talks to several of their own burner accounts, etc.), which occasionally flood the Green Party.

There is also a handful of indestructible, uninspired troll clones and reincarnated problematic users who—likely due to higher unemployment rates in the US and/or a general lack of purpose or sheer malice—regularly and persistently open incredibly moronic threads. We lock those the moment we see them; we have no intention of handing out free passes to people who clearly haven't found a productive hobby.
Please don't edit posts... in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Aside from fixing quotes and merging posts, I tend to steer clear of the edit button for the most part.
If a post is loaded with insults, trolling, doxxing, or any other kind of nonsense, I’m deleting the whole thing and issuing a ban 😳—it doesn't matter if there was a single brilliant or logical point buried in the mess.
Put simply, if you want your contribution to actually stay on the board, the easiest solution is to just watch what you say. 🤷

The conversation has been spinning its wheels for days now. The author keeps getting into these endless spats with anyone who refuses to validate her delusions—though, more often than not, she seems to be arguing with herself.

Besides, she’s the one who invited the chaos in the first place, and I was more than happy to oblige, seeing as this thread has devolved into nothing more than a playground for trolls and people just looking for cheap attention.

Jamie Chase6 said:So, I politely asked the moderator for some info regarding where my reply to this thread vanished...

Regarding the deletion of posts—we don't send out notifications to users explaining why something was removed. The community guidelines are available to everyone; I assume any regular user has read them and understands what they wrote, which should make the reason for removal anything but a mystery. Of course, you’re always welcome to ask, and you'll get an answer. The only reason you didn't hear back is because our moderator was away from her desk.
Frankly, Jamie Chase6, if I had stumbled upon that same post myself, I wouldn't have just deleted it—I would have issued a formal warning for violating the subforum rules.

hollowtrucker77 said:furthermore, mods will edit posts containing things like private data or stuff that doesn't belong here, but they'll just delete posts that contain questionable content
the author is the one responsible for watching what they put in their post

Ever since we dealt with that whole dispute over editing content—which devolved into a massive argument about specific wording and how many emojis were used🤣 — I stopped practicing post editing altogether.
Fixing quotes and merging consecutive posts are the only edits I perform; "content editing" is simply not on my agenda.
If an author wants their post to remain in the thread, they need to ensure the content itself doesn't violate the (sub)forum rules.

Sarah Cooper41 said:Sure, as soon as those little green warnings disappear.

Those warnings aren't going anywhere; they're a direct result of your own actions.

Since you seem to find these warnings and our moderator guidelines such an inconvenience, I'll simplify things for you: I’m done sending polite reminders. From here on out, any further violations of the community rules will result in immediate sanctions without a courtesy heads-up.

There. I trust this streamlined approach meets your expectations.

Sarah Cooper41 said:I honestly just don't get it...

Regardless of how much you lean on your "unique communication style" (which we’re all apparently expected to tolerate just because that’s how you function) or how much you claim to be misunderstood, the reality remains: you knew perfectly well that your constant sarcasm doesn't sit well with the people in the infidelity subforums.
Here is the exact post you wrote in that section, which addresses this very issue:

In fact, you noticed this yourself in that post, yet it didn't stop you from maintaining that performative tone and continuing to force your specific way of interacting down everyone's throats. For instance, here is just one of those posts where they explicitly stated that such commentary is out of place:

Yesterday, you made a similar attempt over in the infidelity group, and I shut it down the moment I saw it because I had no intention of engaging in another three-day tug-of-war.
I also issued a warning to those in the infidelity group who were entertaining the idea of starting arguments within the victim's thread.

Finally, your insistence that you only used a single, innocent smiley face in the post that Jose White18 edited is completely inaccurate, and both you and I know it.
The simple fact that you can't acknowledge even something that elementary only reinforces my belief that no matter what arguments regarding your communication style I or anyone else presents, you won't be satisfied—simply because it isn't what you want to hear.

Sarah Cooper41 said:I asked you for just one concrete example.

Fine, I’ll try my luck by posting the thread you edited. In the quoted section, I clearly laid out everything that made me feel "attacked," yet strangely enough, there was absolutely no response from your side. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't begging for a reaction; it’s just hard to wrap my head around why we're using two different sets of rules for the exact same issue.

In that entire post, your correction focused on a single eye-roll emoji while completely ignoring the actual substance of what was quoted.

Of course, I can't force you to comment since you've explicitly stated you won't, but I'll put this in writing anyway so we can finally put this matter to rest.

Hmm.
I didn't edit this post; Jose White18 did.

So, it seems yet another moderator decided your post was being too aggressive as written.
And for the record, they didn't just remove one Rolls-Royce; they took out the entire fleet.

Sarah Cooper41 said:I have no idea why things are this way, but please, velvettrucker52, before you go off on your endless warnings and disciplinary actions, take a moment to read my previous posts. You might realize that this is simply how I write—without any intention of being rude or having any hidden agenda...

I really don't know what else to tell you regarding this matter, especially since we already covered it in our private messages.

Over at the Department of Public Works, we have three different chat rooms, each populated by very distinct—let's just say, conflicting—sides of a messy love triangle.
Given those differences, it would be wise to adapt your "personal writing style," as you call it, to fit the specific context of the topic you are participating in.
The way you post in the relationship forums hasn't exactly landed well with everyone as "just harmless joking," and that should have served as a pretty clear sign that your approach wasn't sitting right with your audience.
Tonight, you started doing the exact same thing in the infidelity threads, which is why I stepped in with a warning—simply to prevent unnecessary arguments and formal reprimands.

To reiterate, I have absolutely nothing against an articulated and respectful exchange of ideas, but aggressive posturing in "home base" topics or launching attacks on the community won't fly here.

Furthermore, I strongly suggest you review the forum rules once more; it will make your participation much smoother.

Honestly, that is truly all I have to say on the subject.
I'm looking for a public explanation in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Regarding those two ongoing threads about having kids (or not), you’ve actually had more of your posts scrubbed than everyone else on this entire forum combined.
On those specific topics, you were handed two warnings yesterday and today for being insulting—which, frankly, is a light sentence considering how much you actually deserved them. If I issued a warning for every single instance of trolling and verbal abuse, I would have been stuck typing on KzB all day yesterday.

Furthermore, I had to ban a user yesterday whose writing style is almost a carbon copy of yours; the two of you were essentially providing mutual backup while targeting the exact same people. It’s also quite interesting to note that several of your old "clones" share a significant number of IP addresses with that same user.

There. I hope that answers your question sufficiently.
Nescafé or Turkish coffee? in Miscellaneous ·
Espresso.
Just a tiny splash of milk, no sugar.

If that’s not an option, I'll settle for some Turkish Coffee.

As for this Ness cappuccino that tastes like absolute garbage, I wouldn't even call it coffee. 😁
It’s quite generous of you all to volunteer such an abundance of evidence for the moderators, documenting the very mindless chatter you’re being blamed for. :glances in disbelief:

If nothing else, out of pure gratitude, they really ought to reinstate you. 😬
