Why does my belly button hurt? in Health ·
It doesn't bother me one bit!
Well, something happened yesterday that might have been a bit of a setback. My mom accidentally put some weight on her operated leg to keep from falling. It’s been two months and seven days since the surgery. Initially, she felt quite a bit of pain, though it subsided after about ten minutes. There isn't any swelling or unusual deformity compared to how things looked before she leaned on it. The only thing is, she’s feeling a mild ache today that wasn't there prior to the incident. Her ankle mobility remains unchanged—everything functions just as it did before. Our main concern now is this lingering discomfort; we're worried about whether anything could have been damaged after all this time. PLEASE, if anyone can offer some insight, we would truly appreciate it! Thanks in advance to everyone!
Hey, I have one more question. Sometimes my entire foot turns this bluish color and feels freezing, but once it hits warm water, the color returns to normal and it starts to feel a bit warmer. Is that a normal thing to happen, and have you ever experienced anything like that? Like my mom says, her foot looks so cold it’s like it might just fall off.
Oh, God, does anyone have any insight on this?
So, my mom broke her ankle back on January 9th. The diagnosis was a bimalleolar fracture of the left lower leg. She had surgery for bimalleolar osteosynthesis that very same day, and the doctor told her she can't put any weight on it for three months. She went in for a checkup two weeks after the surgery to get her stitches removed, and her next appointment isn't until March 20th. The ankle still looks a bit wide compared to her other one. It doesn't swell in the morning, but by the evening, it’s definitely swollen. I'm wondering what she should be doing for the joint to maintain as much mobility as possible. Right now, she just moves it slightly without much effort and uses a massage bag. She still can't move the operated ankle quite like her healthy one. I'm curious about what the rest of her recovery should look like and if it's normal for the foot to swell up by nighttime. Oh, and my mom is only 44!
Thanks in advance to everyone for the help—any info is appreciated!

My mom broke her ankle back on January 9th. It was a bimalleolar fracture of the left lower leg, so she had to undergo surgery for bimalleolar osteosynthesis. She’s 44, and for now, she isn't allowed to put any weight on it at all. On the bright side, the wound is healing beautifully—the stitches are out and everything looks nice and dry! She’s been working on her range of motion every day, moving the joint as much as she can. Her next check-up isn't until March 20th, and her doctor insisted she stay strictly on crutches until then. Does anyone have advice on exercises? Also, would a massage gym with those little suction cups be helpful? Is this period of complete non-weight-bearing a bit excessive, or is it standard practice to avoid putting even a tiny bit of pressure on the leg?
Thanks everyone for the responses!
Question about my HP Envy printer? in Computer Peripherals ·
For the HP OfficeJet black $31 it’s the cheapest one I’ve come across, though I haven't had a chance to test out the colors yet.
How to stop biting your nails? in Health ·
I’ve got those same nervous habits myself. I’ve been biting my nails for at least eight years now, and it’s such an unconscious reflex—I don't even realize I'm doing it until the damage is already done.
I really want to quit, but it feels impossible. Honestly, I think it might be worse than smoking. With cigarettes, you have to actually have them on hand, but with nail biting, your hands are always right there with you!

Judging by that "smile" of yours, it looks like you haven't brushed since you got those braces put in.
Diagnosis: Secondary cavities on the upper left and lower left front teeth.
Just kidding, of course!

I don't see any discoloration on mine. It was a bit uneven at first where the orthodontic bracket used to be, but that’s just because my dentist didn't quite smooth out all the leftover resin.
So, there are NO STAIN MARKS, provided you stay on top of your oral hygiene routine.

I used to have fixed braces, but I finally got them off!
First, they use a tool similar to what a dentist uses for cleaning teeth to cut the bands around your molars, then they just pop them off with pliers—it’s really not a big deal.
Of course, they remove the rubber bands and take out the archwires before that happens!
Once the rings are off, they use pliers to snap the brackets away. It doesn't hurt much either; you just feel a little sensation, like a tiny snap, and then they're gone.
After that, there’s nothing left in your mouth except for a bit of leftover adhesive on your teeth. The specialist will smooth everything down, just like they did with the molar bands, and then polish your teeth until they shine. Then, they’ll send you back to your regular dentist if they find any cavities hiding under where the brackets used to be.
Anyway, I hope this helps a little!
For me, getting both the top and bottom sets removed took about an hour total. Your mouth might feel a little stiff afterward, but you'll get through it!
Best regards!
Thanks, everyone. My doctor put me on a course of antibiotics and confirmed it’s just a bladder infection.
A few of my urinalysis results are sitting outside the normal range. I'm trying to figure out what might be causing this and what kind of diagnosis we might be looking at.
