Follicular thyroid cancer in Health ·
Robin Sanchez32—I don't really get how this whole response system works. One day she’s apparently acquainted with neighbors in the area who are dealing with thyroid tumors, and then, out of nowhere, she comes down with the exact same illness herself? It’s strange, to say the least.¤
Follicular thyroid cancer in Health ·
About two years ago over at the Mayo Clinic, they ended up removing my pinky finger along with almost all the "infected" lymph nodes in my neck. Pretty much everything was taken out.
Because of this Škaro situation, I’ve been feeling pretty restless and uneasy. It’s just not a good feeling knowing there might still be something malignant lurking in my neck, especially since they only run tests every six months. I can't help but worry that before the next checkup, this Škaro could flare up and spread its malignancy somewhere else entirely. My oncologist isn't actually recommending they go in and pull out the Škaro because it's so small, suggesting we just monitor it instead.
Right now, I'm in the middle of hunting down a second opinion at a different hospital, so we'll just have to see how things play out.
Urgent: Hurthle thyroid tumor diagnosis in Health ·
I’ve spent years tracking thyroid tumors—mostly because I’ve had to deal with my own issues lately—but honestly, I can’t find anything substantial on this Huerthleov cell type anywhere, so I don't have much intelligent insight to offer here.
I’m with Zachary Thompson9 on this one; both women and men should just consider themselves lucky that, if we absolutely had to go through the ringer with a thyroid tumor, we ended up with this.
So, let's just hope for the best and keep our fingers crossed for her!
The employer isn't paying... or at least they aren't if you actually need them when you're just an intern, which is exactly the situation my daughter is in right now. ¤
Irritated down there... wtf? in Health ·
Give me a break with the suspicion! You’re already overthinking everything... if he was holding a solid position, caught in that split-second "take it or leave it" moment on some field where they were supposed to be working, there's no way they wouldn't have noticed if things were bone dry. They couldn't have just sat around waiting, prepping, or playing games...
I mean, I doubt they were having much fun either, since the humidity would have hit them out of nowhere, but it's possible. And honestly? I don't see this lasting more than ten days... ¤
Hormones (questions for young doctors) in Health ·
My T3, FT3, T4, FT4, TSH, and all those other thyroid markers—including the scintigraphy results—all came back perfectly normal... yet just two weeks after those tests, following an ultrasound and a biopsy, I was already on the operating table. Does that not prove that these lab results aren't some absolute, foolproof guarantee of a cancer diagnosis?
but honestly, if you aren't actually experiencing any symptoms related to your thyroid, can you even justify losing sleep over it? ¤
Who did you guys go to for your braces? in Dentistry & Oral Hygiene ·
My kids ended up going to schools out in the Pacific Northwest, which I guess was a bit too far for you... It ran us about $2,000, and we couldn't even rely on government assistance to cover it since everyone was booking spots two years in advance... ¤
Pink Eye Help! in Health ·
I’ve been dealing with this constant stinging and redness in my eyes for what feels like twenty-five years now. It all started back in elementary school, and my pediatrician actually had the nerve to tell me it wasn't even a real issue, asking if it was actually bothering me or if I just wanted to look pretty (!??). I told her it literally feels like scratching, but she didn't care much.
Back when I tried to join the Army, they wouldn't let me in because we were supposed to pass a physical conducted by a sergeant—someone who hadn't even finished middle school!—and those guys didn't know the first thing about medical issues.☹️
Once I hit adulthood, I went to see every local specialist available—three different ones in total. The last guy just slid a rack of eye drops in front of me and asked which ones I hadn't tried yet.
When I pointed out a few, he basically told me to just grab them and come back for a follow-up later since everything would clear up anyway, saying I didn't even need to bother coming in for an appointment. Why would anyone want to deal with that kind of attitude?
I used to buy and use proculin drops because they provided some immediate relief, but I stopped using them a few years ago; now I just wait it out until it passes.
Is it an allergy or some weird type of conjunctivitis? Who knows.
I hope you have better luck with the specialists than I did.
By the way, my vision is still perfectly fine, thank God. ¤
Circumcision: thoughts and experiences? in Health ·
Yeah, yeah... Michelle Cook83 is spot on here..
And—if you’re looking to avoid scalp cancer, I guess you’re supposed to shave yourself down to the bone constantly... honestly, we might be better off just getting a full scalp peel, but nobody does that anymore... ¤

Look, I already said we’re traditionalists about this stuff—the surgery was four years ago. She went from a -7.00 with heavy astigmatism down to basically zero. They warned her that things might shift a bit as she gets older, but so far, nothing has changed. She just had her follow-up checkup last month and everything looks perfect. ¤

Ugh, here I go again, having to deal with Sophia Martinez65...
I’ve been around the block—pardon me, I *have* been around the block—dealing with three different "experts" who spent years pretending they could heal people with nothing but quartz crystals, beet juice, and other nonsense...
That's why I get so prickly when people talk about this kind of "treatment."
If just one single person could show me someone who actually recovered using a documented alternative method, I’d jump on board myself. Just once.

Melissa Cruz2, those cuts looked pretty clean—who did the work? Was it Zurak? ¤

aha..
I had a surprisingly smooth experience myself during my nuclear medicine scan at the local Mayo Clinic facility... from the nursing staff (shout out to the ladies—they actually gave me some tips on setting up my TV antenna so I wouldn't go stir-crazy while in quarantine) all the way down to the attending physicians. My roommate, a guy in his mid-60s, was actually moved to tears by how much humanity they showed us...
It made me wonder if being exposed to daily radiation somehow drained the malice right out of people..

But honestly, I have to say, before that, I was at a different wing of the same hospital where we were treated like mere patients rather than actual human beings with feelings... ¤

It’s just not the same..
Without glasses, she's just—without them..
It’s pure comfort, if nothing else... showering, swimming, sleeping, waking up, hitting the gym...
My daughter’s quality of life has completely transformed since she ditched the glasses and contacts (she used to be forced to wear them constantly)..
Some people will say, "just adapt to it." Well, she spent decades trying to adapt, only to realize science had better answers. Now? She couldn't be happier about the change..
Personally, I don't buy into any of those "pseudo-medical" gimmicks; I’m a traditionalist at heart, so I'll be interested to see if anyone here actually has a concrete argument to convince me otherwise..
Personally, I just don't buy the idea that any doctor would ever go out of their way to hurt a patient on purpose...
Sure, they might mess up and cause unnecessary pain because they lack experience or simply aren't skilled enough, but intentionally inflicting suffering? No way... that's just delusional.
I didn't always see eye to eye with Sophia Martinez65, but in this case, I think she's 100% spot on.
Lately, I’ve been stuck getting constant FBI scans—mostly at that clinic in Beverly Hills—and it seems like every single time, they hand me both the image and the formal report, regardless of whether there’s actually an issue or not. It’s pretty obvious this isn't some mandatory protocol, but rather just whatever the doctor feels like doing in the moment, don't you think? ¤
I don't really have any specific symptoms...
Honestly, I’m just trying to figure out what this actually means. My cousin—she’s an internist who glanced at the results for maybe five minutes before she even saw me—told me not to sweat it and that it isn't anything dangerous. Yeah, right. That’s incredibly comforting, isn't it?
The problem is, I can't exactly get a detailed breakdown right now since she flew off to the USA for a week. ¤
My chest X-ray results came back, and while they said my lungs and frontal sinuses look fine, there’s this note about an "enlarged left ventricle silhouette"
Does anyone have a theory on what that actually implies before I head into the doctor's office? ¤
Thyroid issues in Health ·
Sophia Martinez65, I’m not talking about anything fatal here, just this:
"... because we don't just watch metastases; we treat them aggressively. You clearly misunderstood something..."
I think I understood perfectly fine—I read the reports, saw the ultrasound, and checked the cytology results myself..
And look, they aren't being aggressive with me, though I can say for certain I'd much rather not have this thing in my neck at all...
If anyone has a different take on this, I’m all ears..
Otherwise—yeah, we’re talking about Kusic, the academic who is "my" oncologist.. Should I actually tell him (I see him on Feb 13th) that he's getting the treatment wrong? ¤
