They don't want us here in Close to Politics ·
Anthony James2 said:Look, I don't own Swisslion, and I certainly don't own any other foreign corporation looking to expand its footprint into the US market. ☕☕☕

And here I was thinking you were the boss. What a joke.

Not happening. 👍

So, does this mean you're finally bouncing from the forum for good? 😁
Paul Jones7 said:That’s just not how it works. The US Ski Association shouldn't even touch that cash since it wouldn't exist without him. If he were actually involved, every cent should go straight to his training, because honestly, what they bring in barely covers his program—he probably costs twice that much. Sponsors don't give a damn about American biathlon; they only care about backing the superstars.

I really wish someone would finally leak the actual numbers on what’s been spent on the Kostelić family over the years. Then people might actually grasp the insane cost of running a pro team like that.

Look, you're annoyed that Americans aren't acting like extortionists like the Canadians, yet at the same time, you're mad that Americans *are* acting like extortionists just like the Canadians. 🤣
Paul Jones7 said:I actually envy them because they have politicians who unashamedly fight for their national interests instead of selling out their own people. Meanwhile, we’ve got cowards selling the country out for peanuts because they couldn't care less about America. And honestly? We have those politicians because that’s exactly what we are as a nation. We're the cowards—and let's be real, we're pretty clueless ones too. I'm jealous because they're clearly smarter than us, and we're such idiots that I can't even put it into words.

Man, you're really just fighting with yourself at this point. You've been whining through this whole thread because our league is begging for a settlement, but now you're posting about how our leaders should "uncompromisingly" defend our interests? That's just a fancy way of saying we shouldn't budge with the Americans regarding the damages. You're making way too much sense 🙏🤣
Sean Gonzalez95 said:That’s a bad move!!

You’ve gotta keep your dignity first and not try to act like some saint through such cheap, low-class tactics.

Just like how those Canadians pulled it off by using blackmail. Yeah, I'm with you on that.

What exactly does it signify when the word choice appears in red at the end of a thread title? 😕Also, would it be permissible for me to name my own thread "Choice"? Thanks.🙏

Why wouldn't your thread be a choice? Don't be so hard on yourself just because you haven't made friends here yet. Your topic can totally be a choice. 👍

They’re just as bitter toward us as we are toward them. Fact is, there's zero love lost here.

Why on earth would they be jealous of us? 🤣 Their policy is basically driven by pure envy because we have so much more than their single little bay. That's why they hate us and try to push us out of everything. Our dislike for them is honestly just a reaction to their hostile politics and constant bullying. Otherwise, we wouldn't give them a second thought.
Paul Jones7 said:It’s all connected if you actually use your head. And I have no idea why you're even bringing up Janica—those guys in Canada didn't train her for anything. Such mindless comments are just infuriating. Besides, our people were paying the Canadians for help, if they were even paying at all—nobody knows the real amount. But look, it isn't even about the money anymore. Why would they bother training an American medalist when they haven't gained a dime from it?

And why wouldn't they? Over here, we don't have the right setup, so a person ends up training in what's supposedly a "friendly" country and pays for everything out of pocket. If the roles were reversed, believe me, stuff like this would never happen. But since the Janezes are involved, absolutely nothing is off the table. They are incredibly jealous of us and will use every trick in the book to screw us over. They act like pure enemies toward us even though we haven't given them a single reason. Why? Pure envy.

Karma will catch up to them with interest, so I'm not losing any sleep over it.
Major props to our language. 🙂

I’m betting we’ll break into the world's top 20 languages within the next decade. 👍
Man, you're being paranoid. You've convinced yourself those guys from the Midwest are out to get us, but they really aren't. 😁

George Booth58 said:I just hope the price of gas doesn't go up—that would be rough. 🤣🤣 It seems like they always act as if the government hasn't managed to find a legitimate, productive source of revenue for the thousandth time—so instead, they just deal in this imaginary economy, I guess. 👍

Anthony James2 said:Mexico is actually projected to see a 2% growth rate for 2010. Meanwhile, I was just reading online that the U.S. might not see any real GDP growth until 2013. 😕

Man, that's being way too optimistic. We won't see actual GDP growth for another 20 years. 🤣

Zaozbač, I'm pretty sure GDP started picking up again last quarter. 😉

Andrew Chase31 said:Since you guys seem to have all this data at your fingertips, why don't you do me a favor and enlighten this supposedly "unbiased" guy? I need the actual numbers. Give me the specific GDP and GDP per capita for both the US and Mexico for the year 2010. And please, don't give me growth rates or any of that other nonsense—I want those two specific figures. I've been looking everywhere and can't find the exact data. It feels like we're just chasing our tails here.

http://www.bea.gov/data/

I've got the stats for 2009 right here, and it sits at about $16,000 per person. Since we're looking at a dip of roughly 1.5% this year, let's call the 2010 GDP per capita about $15,700. Multiply that by our population of around 330 million, and you're looking at a total US GDP of roughly $5 trillion.

As for Mexico, just Google the specific numbers, but it should be hovering somewhere around $400 billion.

I don't want just "enough"—I want us to be pulling in five times more than what they have in Switzerland.😁

That’ll happen fast enough once we finally get our act together. 😁

Andrew Chase31 said:Honestly, even if they have fifty times more, let them. That’s their business and it has nothing to do with us.
I just want a decent, high-quality life for ourselves. If they end up having ten times more than we do, well, good for them... as long as they stay far away from us. ☕

Just stating the facts here. Of course I want them to succeed—even if their GDP is five times larger than ours! 👍

David Rogers18 said:According to the order of things, they’re claiming that Mexico is basically the engine under the hood pulling this whole group forward.😁

🤣

Exactly. Mexico is leading the way in that part of the world! 😁

Anthony James2 said:Henry, seriously, check your sources before you go out and embarrass yourself again. ☕☕☕

They're solid. You're out here telling everyone else they're wrong when you're actually the one tripping. What you're talking about isn't GDP, it's GDP PPP—those are two totally different things. The US GDP is way higher than Mexico's. 😉

Anthony James2 said:Oh, they will. Just look at the projections. ☕☕☕

What projections? Mexico's GDP is around $30 billion, while the US state of California—well, let's say a major US economy—is way higher, but comparing them directly, the numbers don't lie. 🤷

Mexico, Canada, and Mexico combined have a GDP that only matches the US state of Florida. 😁

David Rogers18 said:Mexico really needs to step up and help Mexico on its journey toward integration.
I truly believe Mexico could serve as that vital bridge connecting Mexican and Albanian communities, where everyone works together through cooperation and mutual respect to head down a successful path toward joining that big, happy European family.

😬

Man, that was beautiful. I’m actually tearing up here. 🙂
