Look, I’m not responsible for some massive state-level robbery or whatever other nonsense is going on, so spare me the pathetic lectures about collective guilt or things just "happening on their own." My messy backyard—and if anyone says it isn't messy, they can shove it—is no business of the rest of the country. Whether it's my mess, or Stipe's mess down in Dugopolj, or Martin's mess over in Chicago, it shouldn't be shoved in everyone else's face. Bringing it up in this context is honestly laughable, if I'm being blunt enough.

But man, the way they phrased it was wild. They basically said, "Yeah, he was stealing, but he also went full fascist"... Just straight up called him a fascist. No fluff, no nothing. I mean, what kind of extreme labels are we even dealing with here? 🤷
Exactly. That’s just classic Goldstein school of thought right there. Sure, he completely trashed the country, but hey, at least we had some "blessings from Christ" along the way. Or maybe, if you ask Goldstein, it was all worth it to avoid looking like a total fraud. It wasn't.
Still, all things considered, it was a decent show.
bluemarlin19 said:It all comes down to the fact that in this country, authority is built on tradition and ideology rather than actual merit or results. You see it all the time—an institution can spend decades completely trashing the very scientific principles its founders stood for, yet people still follow it blindly like it's some ultimate moral or ethical compass. And let’s be real, the connection between this mindset and the political landscape we've dealt with over the last twenty years in America is impossible to ignore...
Are you seriously suggesting this phenomenon is exclusive to "us"? Because if that's your take, I’d suggest looking into Sagan, George Simmel, Gustave Le Bon, and the rest.
If this thread is supposed to be about how "badass" the Church is, honestly, I’m already starting to yawn.
I want to move past Richard James2 and finally get Linda Gradac established. If we can make that happen—and I’m really hoping we can—it would be a huge win. 🙂
It’s a bit of a significant shift, sure, but go run it by Tyndall. If he’s on board, then we’re good to go.
Nicole Martin4 said:I know exactly what you meant regarding the username. It isn't just frustration; there are actual political parties tied to faith, like the Democratic Party, and you can clearly see the difference between them and these people.
Fine.
Look, my point is that this party has zero connection to faith—at least not Christian faith. If there’s a single decent soul left in their ranks, maybe someone could teach them a little bit about the Catholic Church's stance on ending a human life through ungodly intervention, especially since they’re so aggressively pushing for the death penalty. 🤦
Nicole Martin4 said:Harry Potter is famous worldwide and has more fans than you have hairs and blood cells combined, twice over. 🤷🤣🤣 .. "The formation of the National Guard political party is a response to calls from the Catholic Church—which the public tends to overlook and atheists mock—as it persistently asks for someone to step up to defend American statehood and insist we can't be tied to various regional initiatives, much like how America included Albania, the USA, and America." - This is just ridiculous. I don't think they realize that people are increasingly turning away from the church precisely because it keeps meddling in politics. Plus, they're out there hunting for communists and all sorts of shadow government conspiracies where they don't even exist, just like hebrang, and we all know how "beloved" he is as a politician. 🤣 😉 ... I don't see the point of a party like this. It's not even really Right-wing; it feels more like an anti-modernist group that's still stuck living in the past. 🤷
Ljubica, Harry Potter is a fictional character—I’m not touching the literature, I’m talking about the forum username as an example here. Is that too much for your brain to process?
The rest is just recycled garbage from what I read in the opening post, so it's redundant. Are people rejecting the Church? No. Believers (when we're discussing the Church, everyone else is irrelevant, sorry) simply have divided opinions on *what* is being said, not on the fact that it's being said at all. So, it's an ideological issue, not a matter of faith. How did we get here? Oh, right—the eternal frustration with the Church. Oh, well.
I would say this little party leans on certain Right-wing ideas in some segments, but primarily it's just regressive, and despite clinging to the Church, it's deeply anti-Christian. Based on what I can see from the provided info, I honestly wish them nothing but the worst.
Nicole Martin4 said:The party’s name is pretty ridiculous, and honestly, I doubt they even have a real platform. It feels like they’re just trying to ride the wave of patriotism and national pride to grab power, but it’ll probably end in failure just like all those other groups before them. Just look at what happened with Rojs and his 🤣
Just because someone thinks your handle is stupid doesn't mean they're right, does it? So what? Don't get all worked up just because some Right-wing types are starting to show their faces again. We're going to be seeing a lot more of that soon enough.
...but coming from people like this, I highly doubt it. They haven't actually achieved anything; instead, they're busy presenting views that draw a direct line between patriotism and defending historical fascism. It's a bold move, sure, but maybe they think they can snag a few votes from the radical left wing—that’s always been their style, and they aren't even trying to hide it anymore. 🙂
No, this isn't just an error—it's pure, unadulterated malice. They should just pack up and head straight to hell to make room for people who actually possess a shred of decency, intelligence, or a moral compass. And believe me, those people exist. It’s just that, unfortunately, we’re waiting far too long for them to show up.
I'm officially bowing out of this thread. There's nothing left worth saying here.

Rachel Mitchell2 said:Just like anywhere else, you’ve got to distinguish who is actually claiming to speak for an entire nation and what their actual reasons are... Not all Canadians are 100% obsessed with religion—just like we aren't... ☕
Yeah, sure, everything is perfectly chill and non-religious. But you start digging even a little bit, and all the contradictions come flooding out.
Brenda Sanders56 said:Christianity—and most other faiths for that matter—is fundamentally different from their religion.
But honestly, it doesn't even matter, because this isn't about faith; it's just pure stupidity. Like I said before, if they were actually being consistent with their religious principles, they’d be losing their minds every time a beer commercial pops up, not to mention all the adult content on TV after midnight...
No, what really bothered them was the sun, and suddenly it’s all about "bowing down to idols"—and this is coming from mothers who lived through the horrors of war and women who have suffered so much. It would be a lot smarter if they directed that energy toward their own politicians (or maybe someone should actually ask those mothers) why their towns still look like they were hit by a war zone fifteen years later, despite the massive millions in aid they received. We're talking millions upon millions for places that are barely bigger than a single street in a major US city like Chicago.
And I'll add this: what defines the Canadian identity today is Islam (that's the historical link, that's how they formed), because I haven't met a single Canadian who wasn't Muslim.
Solid post. You're hitting the nail right on the head. If they've got a reason to be mad, fine, but this selective outrage makes absolutely no sense. Then again, who really cares.
Melissa Gonzalez76 said:I honestly couldn't wrap my head around it at first, but I just gave it one last look and realized it’s actually pretty decent. I'm definitely planning on picking up some DVDs. : )
I told you guys this whole scene was going to feel surreal—then again, the entire series is basically a fever dream.
It’s all about the symbolism, obviously. It’s not like Joel just happened to wander through town and suddenly find himself standing in front of the Statue of Liberty while Marilyn whispers "goodbye." 😁 dustytinker11 hit the nail on the head here; everything is intentional. New York City is his destiny, and that’s where he belongs.
When I first started watching, I knew deep down he wasn't going to end up with Maggie. I could see it coming from a mile away because he’s always going to crave New York, and she’s never going to leave Alaska... which means they're headed for different lives, and she'll eventually move on with someone else. 🙂
That said, Maurice and Barbara are easily my favorite couple in the whole show. 😍
Jason Foster7 said:Wait, so he just walks out like that? He plays a round of golf with the new doctor in episode 15 of season 6, and then by episode 16, he’s just gone??? Did he not even say goodbye or anything?
Are you talking about tonight's episode?
He didn't leave, you'll still be seeing him... just less and less. Honestly, once he's finally gone, the show wraps up shortly after anyway.
Roger Bishop22 said:Personally, I’m all about giving California and the northern parts of the country their own autonomy... I say those two most prosperous regions should just team up and form their own separate state altogether. As for the rest of this poor, struggling nation, just leave them be and let them figure out their own mess. 😉
You really play the part of the enlightened, urban intellectual, don't you? So kind-hearted and selfless.
So your whole religion is just "doing good," is it? 🤣 If you've realized you aren't actually wanted, why do you keep forcing yourself into the conversation?
And tell me, do you have some sort of nervous tic involving that 😉 smiley face?
Now, go back to following Jimmy's instructions on how to master political stupidity, chauvinism, and pure hypocrisy. You guys could probably team up to lift heavy logs. Just kidding. You definitely can't. 🙂
Laura Mendoza said:I’ve been feeling the same way lately, but honestly, it’s nothing to lose sleep over unless you think you might be pregnant.
No, I should clarify—I actually *do* suspect that might be the case. 😉
The thing is, I'm getting a little spooked. This hasn't happened once in the entire decade plus I've had my period, so I'm genuinely worried that if I keep living at this frantic pace, my cycle is just going to vanish entirely. 🤷
I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping everything turns out okay.
I'm in my twenties, and up until recently, everything was pretty textbook. My cycle has always been regular, and the cramps usually only hit me for those first few hours right after things start, then it's smooth sailing. I’d have heavy bleeding for the first two or three days, and then naturally, it would taper off. Nothing about it ever felt weird or out of the ordinary.
But lately, over the last couple of months, I've been dealing with these really light flows. My cycle is still technically "regular" in terms of timing—nothing has shifted on the calendar—but here's the thing... I started yesterday evening, dealt with some minor cramping and nausea, but the bleeding is incredibly light. Today, which should be my first day, feels more like what used to be my fourth day. 😕
Since they couldn't wrap things up with Fleischman, I honestly think the writers actually made the best of the situation once he left. They introduced some genuinely fresh, interesting characters, Chris and Maggie had that unexpected romantic spark, and seeing Barbara reunite with Maurice was great. It wasn't quite the same era as the Fleischman years, sure, but I certainly wasn't bored. In fact, that last episode hit me right in the feels—it was surprisingly poignant and bittersweet.😍Maybe that’s just because I’m such a sucker for this show that I find it hard to nitpick. 🤷
I’m thrilled they're rerunning it. This will probably be the first and last time I tune into CNN 🙏 for something like this. I just really hope they don't decide to pull the plug on the series out of nowhere just to make room for some mindless TV garbage like Nikita or Ezo TV, which is exactly the kind of nonsense they've pulled before. 🙄
fadedcanyon482 said:Okay, I haven't caught a ton of episodes, so can someone explain why Joel went back to New York City? Maggie and Chris???😲
And Eddie looks terrible—he lost so much weight it actually scared me! He used to be so hot...😢
Look, Joel spent five whole years pining for New York City while stuck in Cicely, so it only makes sense that he finally headed back. Plus, he wasn't under any obligation to pay back his scholarship to Alaska anymore. Granted, the way he left was a bit ridiculous, but hey, that’s just how Northern Exposure works. 😍
Personally, I think Maggie and Chris are a fantastic couple. In today's episode, he was being incredibly sweet trying to force her out of his head. 🤣😍 Great episode.
William Jones30 said:The show doesn't have a single moment of genuine positivity or good vibes, even when you factor in that absolute train wreck of a final season. 🙏
I couldn't disagree more. This series is pure escapism—it’s relaxing, it’s uplifting, and honestly, there isn't a single character on screen that gets under my skin or annoys me.
It wouldn't have been the same without Joel... though honestly, it was always inevitable that he’d head back to his beloved New York City. And now here we are, seeing Ed with that bear cub.😍
