lol! That’s not grease, it’s thermal paste! 😁 In theory, taking off the heatsink shouldn't really change much.

68 degrees is pretty hot, and once you start overclocking, you'll probably see them hitting over 80° with that stock cooler. Definitely grab a decent heatsink before you push it, unless you're planning on using your CPU to fry eggs! 😁

Look, I've been around since 2003 and I didn't know about that either! Honestly, I don't even see why anyone cares—you can just copy/paste stuff into a Notepad file, or better yet, save the whole page as an HTML file to keep the formatting. Or just take a screenshot. It’s not rocket science.

She clearly deleted them in a panic. She obviously had something she didn't want anyone seeing.
Plus, maybe there was a reason she didn't want those messages sitting on her hard drive, especially if she isn't the only one using that computer, or if someone else was looking over her shoulder at the time.

He really helped me kill some time effectively. 🙂 But he also made sure I wasted every single second! 😢

Having your CPU temp be half of what the chipset reports doesn't mean you're crazy; under normal conditions, those numbers shouldn't be that far apart.

The best way to check is just using your finger. If you touch it, the chipset heatsink should feel slightly warm, maybe around 35-40°.

Edit: It's also possible your heatsink isn't making good contact with the chipset. Check that out.

Hmm...

Managed to bump it up to 3.15GHz (450×7), but it crapped out after 4 hours, so I dialed it back to a safe ~3GHz (425×7). Memory is running sync at 850MHz.
Kinda wild that when core voltage was set to Auto, it was sitting at a massive 1.52V! Once I manually set it to 1.35V in the BIOS, it dropped down to 1.27V.
Pretty weird stuff!

Multiplier's sitting at the stock 7. My BIOS is only giving me 6 as another option, which I haven't messed with yet. But wouldn't that just tank my CPU clock speed?

BIOS lets me push the FSB up to 650 MHz.

Anyone got a clue?

I'm rocking an ASUS motherboard with 2x1GB Kingmax 800MHz sticks and an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86 GHz (266x7).

I bumped the FSB up to 333, which gets my CPU running at 2.33 GHz totally stable. Temps stay under 60° even when I'm pushing it. But the second I try to nudge that FSB any higher, the PC just refuses to boot. I tried cranking the voltage all the way up to 1.5V, but no luck. I thought maybe the RAM was being picky, so I dialed it back toward the stock 800MHz speed, but still nothing. Even dropping the memory speed below 800 didn't fix it.

It’s driving me nuts because I see people all over the forums and tech reviews bragging about hitting over 3GHz on these chips without even touching the voltage! 😕
What am I missing here? What am I doing wrong?

What’s the deal with the red cards? Do they count expired ones toward the ban, or just the active ones? And how exactly do they get wiped from the record when they expire?
