I respect anyone putting in extra hours or grinding through weekends and holidays, but if those overtime shifts are the reason people have zero time for their families, themselves, or friends, then we have a problem. If this culture is why much of today's youth—not everyone, mind you—is turning into a bunch of delinquents, then overtime and weekend work should be banned. We need to send exhausted parents home to actually raise their kids. Of course, in an era where corporate profit outweighs human life and greed knows no bounds, I doubt we'll see any real change. The root cause of our social decay is simple: parents are too terrified of losing their jobs to spend time parenting, and CEOs are so blinded by the bottom line that they can't see past their own bank accounts. It’s all the same cycle. We need a strict five-day, eight-hour work week. Period. No more, no less.
I'm definitely on board too, though the culture has shifted so much lately. It's become this weird "norm" where if you aren't pulling ten-hour days or more, people label you as lazy or unmotivated. 🤷 It's honestly awful, and you can really see how it's tearing families apart. I know so many people in their 30s who don't even have kids because they either don't have the time or simply can't afford them. Just the other day, a friend of mine—she's a researcher over at a place like NASA—was telling me about her mentor's attitude toward her. There's this unspoken expectation that she needs to stay well beyond her shift, and her supervisor actually makes her feel guilty for leaving right at the end of her eight hours... even though most days she stays an extra thirty minutes or an hour anyway.
Can someone please fix this? Everything looks half the size it should be, and then there's that ad popping up out of nowhere like a jump scare from a bad horror movie...
casualharbor9 said:... have you noticed any corrosion yet? From what I can tell, it looks like the tubing running through the frame has cracked... maybe you could just swap out a part or two... or honestly—just get a new fork...
Yeah, that’s exactly why aluminum frames usually come with a 5-year warranty, while steel ones (the real deal, using Reynolds tubing and stuff like that) often carry a lifetime guarantee... There’s also a pretty big difference depending on the aluminum alloy used. For instance, the 7000 series starts out incredibly strong, but it tends to be stiffer and more prone to fatigue over time, whereas the 6000 series is a bit softer, giving it some flex and making it more durable... I actually wonder what the 5000 series was like—it isn't really used much anymore...
By the way, someone mentioned to me once that a really good, properly executed weld (regardless of the method) can actually end up being stronger than the base metal itself. I wonder if there's still an outfit like Lincoln Electric around there where you could get an ultrasonic test done?
The thing is, there's a type of corrosion you can't even see on the surface, and that's actually the most dangerous kind—it eats away deep inside the metal and compromises everything. You could probably get an X-ray done at NASA, but I’m not sure if that would actually make financial sense for anyone. 😁 There are other, cheaper ways to check, like measuring electrical potential.
Carl Castillo69 said:-My diet is pretty much 99% meat...Fish, sweets, veggies, fruit... honestly—nothing really bothers me...
I’m a little confused here—are you really eating that much meat? Honestly, you might want to try cutting back a bit and swapping some of those portions for more veggies instead... I know for a fact that I don't feel my best when I overdo it on the meat...
I’m a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to bikes—didn't even learn how to ride until I was 13. It took months of begging and actual tears before my parents finally gave in, but then one morning, there it was, sitting right in the driveway. Honestly, just thinking back to that rush of pure joy gives me chills... 😍 That first bike only lasted about two years before my idiot neighbor crashed into it—totally trashed it against a hedge 😠🤣. Then came middle school, and I didn't touch a bike again until I got this Diamondback for my birthday that I absolutely loved. Around that same time, I started getting interested in trail riding, though I mostly stuck to things that fit my own pace and style... But there was this one specific moment where everything clicked, you know? 😁 It was when I went out riding with some guys from the local club toward Mount Rainier, and they were flying at this insane, aggressive pace. They didn't give a damn that I was just a beginner with zero cardio—and a girl, too. But I pushed through it anyway, and man, I felt incredible afterward 🙂 even though I honestly thought I was going to pass out 😂 Since then, I've been diving into the technical side of things, too—learning about all the gear and components out there... yeah,
Hey Not sure if this is the right spot for this—I tried searching for a thread about vitamins but came up empty, so if the mods need to move this somewhere else, please feel free... So, here's the deal. I went to get one of those vitamin and mineral screenings done—you know, the kind where you hold a metal device in one hand while they run the reading on the other. Everything actually looked great, except for my calcium and omega levels. The technician was honestly pretty shocked; she couldn't wrap her head around how low they were. To be honest, I’m a little confused by it too, but oh well. I'm wondering, though—how reliable is that kind of testing really? She suggested I cut back on coffee, which I totally agree with and plan to do. She also told me to scale back on meat 😕. But why? Specifically regarding protein intake... that's a bit of a headache for me because I work out regularly and need to eat plenty afterward—plus, I tend to lose weight too easily, which is the last thing I want...
Maybe it's time to switch doctors 😁 Honestly, I get those same vein pulsations whenever it gets really hot out—or even just when I clench my fist, for instance... I usually just chalk it up to having strong veins, but nothing ever actually bursts. I’m certainly no medical expert, but still, that doesn't seem quite right 🤷
Honestly, you might want to have a doctor take a look at that. It might be worth starting on some kind of treatment now—because, unfortunately, those veins are only going to become a bigger headache for you down the road... 🤷

Seriously though, why do people even enjoy playing with others' emotions like this? I honestly don't see the appeal at all, it's just super pathetic.
Why do people like that even exist? Honestly—it's just because they can. Because there will always be someone out there who finds them appealing, or someone who sees something beautiful in them... I guess that's just how it goes... Maybe they just crave the attention, I don't know...
Sam Green4 said:So, like, two months ago I totally dumped my boyfriend of a year—I think I actually posted about him on here before—and honestly, I just realized I wasn't feeling it anymore, especially after grabbing coffee with this guy I knew and feeling those crazy butterflies all over again! It was such a wake-up call because I realized I’m still totally alive inside and crave that insane rush and sexual tension you only get when you're actually falling for someone, which was totally missing from my last relationship.
Me and this guy, let's call him X, started hitting it off with endless texting and constant coffee dates, and I was pretty sure he was feeling the vibe too, but then out of nowhere, he hits me with this super blunt text saying he saw our whole thing as just being buddies and didn't want any awkwardness about who wants what. I played it cool and told him it was fine, and we didn't even talk for a week, which honestly wasn't even that big of a deal to me at first.
But then after a week, he reaches out apologizing and says he didn't mean to act like that because I didn't deserve it, and he wanted to grab coffee to explain himself, so we met up the next day. He gave me this whole speech about being in a major funk, dealing with zero sleep, and having a mountain of work at his job in NYC, blah blah blah, but whatever, I didn't really care if it was true or not, I just wanted to see him again.
Then one night we finally kissed and oh my god, it was literally the most beautiful, tender kiss I've ever had in my life! After that, we were basically inseparable with the nonstop calling and texting, but the catch was he said he didn't want to rush into anything serious right away because he thinks relationships fail when they move too fast, so he wanted to take it slow. I was like, okay, maybe he's right, since I've never been this into someone before, so we ended up sleeping together after just a week and I have zero regrets about that. Around Christmas, I finally brought up "the talk" regarding feelings, and he just said he needed more time because he's terrified of getting hurt again, plus there was this weird drama where his ex reached out and he seemed super messed up about it, though he insisted he didn't want her back and seemed sincere enough.
That evening, I finally called him out and told him straight up that I can't be with someone who isn't head over heels for me or doesn't feel anything, and he tried to argue that he *does* feel things and that I'm super important to him, he just didn't want to ruin what we had. When I asked him if he even knew what he wanted from me, he admitted he didn't, so I made a snap decision and told him we shouldn't see each other anymore, and even though he tried to save face by saying he'd call me tomorrow, I shut it down because I knew he wouldn't have an answer anyway.
So yeah, total radio silence all weekend, and then he hits me up on Monday just to check in, Tuesday to do the same, and then nothing else until today when he sent a "Happy New Year" text.
There was also that whole weird situation with his ex popping up and him acting super shady about it, even though he swore he was over her.
So yeah, that's the whole messy saga.
My question is, are there actually people out there who just can't fall in love instantly and genuinely need tons of time for that to happen? Like, should I have been more patient, or is a month and a half of seeing someone enough time to figure out where things stand?
Do you guys think there's anything left here worth trying to fix?
It's honestly killing me because I tend to get attached really fast, and he's the first guy in forever that I've actually liked as a whole package, so I'm stuck with this massive guilt thinking maybe I should have waited longer, and now I'm wondering if I should just ask him exactly what I'm asking you guys?
He's playing you... and he's playing you hard. In my opinion, he's trying to have his cake and eat it too... and you're just the backup plan. All that talk about feelings and how much he was hurting... ugh, what a load of nonsense. Sorry if that sounds cold, maybe it isn't. But he's coming across as really immature and emotionally messy, and I don't think you need that—you deserve better. 😉 And Happy New Year! 😉
lonegardener said:Not necessarily. You could get into a car accident, end up paralyzed from the waist down, and boom—there’s your life-changing moment. 😬 And that definitely isn't some feel-good movie trope, is it?
Setting aside those extreme scenarios... damn it, I should've just said that sooner 😁 While the author is waiting around for... well, you know... 😉
just imagine I'm finally walking out of prison after doing ten years on the inside. how does someone even start reintegrating back into society?
It's really just about a bunch of small, everyday habits. Thinking there’s going to be one massive, life-altering moment—you know, like in those Hollywood movies—is honestly just a fairy tale...
mistyseal11 said:I've definitely been through something similar myself. But honestly? I feel like you're taking a shot at me here... why's that?
Not at all... I'm really not sure why you'd think that. What I mean is—you just seem way too comfortable with everything. I mean, life requires some kind of movement or struggle, even when things get dark enough to consider suicide. It’s just your perspective that feels off to me... 😉
mistyseal11 said:It’s freezing out there, and honestly, I'm a total wimp when it comes to the cold. I mean, sure, I could probably power through it if I had to, but
where on earth is anyone gonna be "forced" to hang out and entertain me?
mistyseal11 said:Look, I've been hospitalized more times than I care to admit... 🙂
It's actually kind of wild being surrounded by millionaires, celebrities, all kinds of specialists, and on top of all that, dealing with some seriously salty staff.
Wouldn't it be way easier just to head out for the night😁? There's plenty of that stuff out there too, without all the hassle
mistyseal11 said:I just want to get things moving, man, to finally get out there and be around people again, just to feel some kind of momentum and get a little attention,
Honestly, you’d probably end up in the ER—and we both know what that entails—but if that’s really what you feel you need right now, then go ahead... 😁
Being around people? Hmm... trust me, you don't want to be around *those* kinds of people. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I wouldn't exactly call hospital staff "social butterflies"...
mistyseal11 said:Honestly, life is just getting way too monotonous and I’ve got zero motivation to actually get moving.
I’m basically living in total isolation here.
I find myself walking out onto the balcony—since I can still move around, at least—just threatening to jump.
I just need something, anything, to spark some kind of reaction, and I’m dying to know what that might be.
Look, I don't actually want to die; I’d just be faking it. I just really need someone to look out for me, to show even a tiny bit of care and for something, I don't know, to actually fucking happen...
Will I just get wiped out, or will I actually get a little attention and maybe some various pills?
