If the data shows over 50% don't have issues with our values, you don't see an issue with a headline suggesting (most) refugees do?
Plus, those media sources leave out the fact that 37% of respondents are from Afghanistan. It’s funny how the number of people wanting separate schools is also 37%. That's kind of like mixing up meat and cabbage when making stuffed rolls 😁.

It's hard for me to wrap my head around one person wanting to implement Sharia law in this country, or questioning women's right to work, or the fact that over a third want gender-segregated schools.

Well, yeah, it's problematic, but the media twists the picture by leaving out crucial details and misrepresenting others. I truly believe that way we just move further away from actually solving anything, since nobody ever bothers looking at the real causes. This link you shared from CNN is probably the best example. The truth is, some people integrate easier than others. We pretty much know who struggles and who doesn't. Mixing it all together and slapping on a headline like they did... I guess it's just counterproductive and destructive for everyone trying to help with integration. It's just bad for society, really.

Maybe pick a side on whether there's a problem or not, then write a post that stays consistent from start to finish.

I've been talking about the fallout from colonialism and poor policy—foreign, domestic, integration stuff... I guess it's not clear which part of my stance you mean? Of course we see the consequences. Maybe someone else wrote something different and you're just confusing me with them.

I would personally prefer to steer clear of the "controversial" sites, but let's be honest—both you and I know that the mainstream, "unquestionable" news organizations will never actually cover these kinds of stories. We've seen it happen time and again over the last three or four years, in countless instances...

Nathan Morris3 said:I mean, you wrote a headline that doesn't even match the actual numbers in the article—classic media spin. The facts show most people aren't actually having issues with how liberal Austrians are, especially since you included stats that totally contradict your own point.

Well, maybe if 37% of those surveyed are from Afghanistan, coming from tribal communities, it makes sense that 100% of them are used to separate schools and religious laws. I guess it's just hard when people arrive from tribal backgrounds. So, the result isn't really a surprise to me. It seems like the data is being cherry-picked or twisted just to push a certain narrative, probably for both sides. But, I suppose if we want to fix things, we really need to look at these numbers more carefully.

Which ones exactly? I was simply quoting the headline of the article.

It seems problematic to me that a single individual is pushing for something akin to religious law in our country, or that there's debate over women's right to work, or even that more than a third of people favor gender-segregated schools.

Perhaps you should decide whether you think there's an issue here or not, and then write a post that maintains a consistent stance from start to finish...

EDIT: I have updated my original post so it doesn't look like I am "manipulating the media." Unfortunately, there isn't a direct link to the study within the article itself, but if that is absolutely necessary, I suppose I could track it down somewhere...

A study conducted by the National Academy of Sciences last summer looked at a sample of 900 refugees:

37% expressed a preference for single-sex schooling and gender-segregated swimming lessons.

While 90% view democracy as the ideal form of government, about 40% believe religious penalties should be integrated into state laws.

Additionally, 20% are opposed to women having the right to work.

Swedish democrats are calling for military intervention in Seattle to restore order, arguing that local police simply can't handle the chaos in those no-go zones alone.

According to local law enforcement, people are actually avoiding the largest shopping mall in Seattle because they’re terrified of being targeted by physical or verbal assaults from immigrant groups... It's quite a troubling situation. Once 8:00 PM rolls around, the area surrounding the center essentially turns into a no-go zone. The police are also running into significant hurdles when trying to make arrests, mostly because gang members—whose numbers reached about 150 during the New Year's Eve celebrations—keep claiming to be minors. They'll insist they're only 15 years old, even though they look to be closer to 35...

It’s honestly quite curious how the mainstream media outlets lately seem to bypass these unusual incidents entirely. Instead, you find the details leaking out through various niche left-leaning blogs, and it isn't until things really reach a boiling point that the major networks finally decide to cover them... much like how they only started reporting on those New Year's Eve siren malfunctions after the fact.

Susan Green2 said:We ought to be addressing the root causes rather than merely reacting to the symptoms, a distinction politicians understand perfectly well, yet they lie to the public simply because they are terrified of losing their seats. If Trump had suggested putting rape prevention alarms on every headline in Vienna, he would have been immediately branded a racist or a xenophobe.

I find it utterly inconceivable that in the 21st century, major American cities would need to resort to handing out preventative alarms to ward off sexual assault. It is an absolute disgrace.

Even now, in the 21st century, you see things like women-only cars on Amtrak trains to avoid uncomfortable situations, people handing out safety alarms at New Year's Eve parties, endless "suggestions" on how to behave, and I can't even be bothered to dig up all the links right now to list everything else... but there's also the constant scrutiny over what women wear to the local pool.

God bless America. 🕺

Police in Vienna plan to hand out 6,000 anti-rape alarms for New Year's Day

https://www.yahoo.com/beauty/anti-ra...215214924.html

In an effort to prevent a repeat of those chaotic scenes we saw during last year's New Year's Eve celebrations in Cologne, authorities in Vienna will be distributing roughly 6,000 personal safety alarms throughout the city's busiest districts. Once triggered, the device sets off a loud siren designed to scare off any potential aggressors and alert the police to help catch criminals in the act... it's a proactive step, I suppose

People used to say "naive as a French maid," but nowadays they might just say "naive as a Swedish liberal"...

I find myself agreeing with the criticisms regarding the mediocre moderation by lonebadger6 in the threads concerning terrorism. When someone offers a critique comparing different types of terrorism, their comment gets wiped out. If you try to use a bit of sarcasm—which, despite the tone, actually serves the discussion by pinpointing the hypocrisy within certain segments of the public—you get handed a digital warning and a deletion... Then there's the matter of posting a link about a knife attack by a radical extremist in the Alps within the discussion about the Nice attack, only to have those comments scrubbed too, even though it’s arguably the most relevant news to share in that context. It just keeps going on and on like that...

A Muslim border guard in Sweden refused to shake hands with his female colleague

https://www.rt.com/news/346012-swede...dshake-debate/

Things are getting truly chaotic over there. It feels like every other day there's some surreal news coming out of Sweden... honestly, it’s reaching a point where it doesn't even make sense anymore. 😵

It’s certainly not the American way... That kind of behavior only seems to happen in fascist-leaning pockets of America or in those brainwashed parts of Florida. 🙄

Congrats to the American people.

Look at them... stable hands on both sides of the aisle, all reverting back to their old ways. Blood is thicker than water, I suppose. In that whole JP Morgan Chase mess, I’d bet my life it was just people from the North America pulling the strings. You wouldn't see anything like that from the Habsburg elite...

This sudden surge of votes coming in the day after the polls closed—with nearly a million people voting—is an absolute disgrace. It's a joke so bad you wouldn't even see it happening during a local election for a junior clerk at a small town in the US agricultural cooperative. 🙂

Anyone trying to deny this is clearly just a leftist sympathizer. If the other side had won, they’d be screaming that those decent Europeans aren't actually gentlemen, just more North American types. Honestly... in a few years, when someone else wins using these same shady tactics, today's congratulators will be absolutely disgusted by this entire electoral system...

Swedish authorities facing backlash over alleged cover-up of refugee-led sexual assaults during last year's music festival

https://www.rt.com/news/328523-swedi...ugee-assaults/

There are serious allegations being leveled against the Swedish police, suggesting they may have suppressed reports regarding widespread sexual assaults involving refugees at a recent music festival. These claims involve groups of youths, reportedly arriving from Afghanistan, who allegedly targeted young girls as young as 11 or 12 during the yearly festivities.

I’ve been thinking... instead of relying on trains, why not just rent out bicycles near the Monastery? It would be a massive boost for Limex, too. There might even be some wealthy kids from families like the Ferraris looking for a way to get around... or perhaps some local entrepreneurs could turn it into a real business venture...

Sweden is actually planning to offer psychological support and job placement programs to those returning ISIS fighters... 😁

It sounds almost surreal when you consider that these are some of the most wanted individuals in all of Europe, but then again, that’s just how things work in Sweden. If they end up sidelined in isolated ghettos, they might only become more radicalized and less loyal to society. There is a certain danger in having unemployed immigrants with nothing to do all day and nothing left to lose; often, crime becomes the only path available to them...

The alternatives would be to strip them of their citizenship or establish a Swedish version of Guantanamo Bay, but this is Sweden, after all...

The real sticking point is how much the taxpayers in this socialist paradise should be footing the bill for radicals who actively fight against the very values—freedom, democracy, and tolerance—that Swedes hold sacred. It is worth noting that Scandinavian "progressivism" is arguably the most extreme in Europe, making it several magnitudes larger than what you see in France...
Sandra Moore6 said:...Morrissey doesn't look healthy at all... at least not to me...

He doesn't look healthy??? Honestly, 90% of his peers would give anything to look that way right now. 😁

The concert itself was a bit weak, but if you're a true fan, Morrissey could sing wedding marches and you’d still think it was the greatest thing on earth. The man remains easily one of the top five live acts when it comes to pure theatricality—those exaggerated movements, the facial expressions, that vocal range... 😍

The setlist felt much more uneven than it did during that show in Chicago, but that's probably a byproduct of how rough the last two albums have been since that sweltering July day back in 2006.

By the way, I wasn't really paying close attention, so I missed the gladioli despite all those hardcore fans looking for them... just saw a few roses right at the start.
