I don't know. Maybe she'd just have a glass of wine or a coffee.:
If you're talking about wine in general, then sure, it'll catch you off guard. I'm speaking broadly here—it sneaks up on you. Tastes smooth enough while you're drinking it, but it hits harder than you expect.🙂
Rachel Palmer56 said:Since you included links, I assume they're for decent wines. Like I mentioned before, I don't drink—I'm a total teetotaler—so I'm clueless about wine. But if I had to pick something, I'd want it to be high-quality and sweet. So, my question is: which one of these fits that description?
The first link goes to the Nuić winery and their Trnjak. The second link is just a review of that specific Trnjak. It's smooth, sweet, and packs a punch. Anyone who doesn't realize how strong it is is going to end up with a headache fast.🤣

A long time ago, more than a decade back, some Jehovite knocked on my door. Naturally, I let them in. They were polite enough, so I hosted them and listened to their pitch. Once they finished their little presentation, I hit them with about ten questions just to prove I was paying attention. Then I went on the offensive and started tearing their logic apart. Those idiots actually had the nerve to offend me because they wouldn't listen to my rebuttals. That’s how I pass the time, if I can find the window for it.
It didn't turn my stomach; I'm just offering advice.☕

And I experienced all of those things after years of heavy drinking.
In small, controlled doses, alcohol is a medicine. Not a poison.🧐
Mine happened when I was about four years in high school—somewhere around '89. A group of older cousins, all around 15, organized a backyard BBQ. I remember being so stoked just because I finally got the green light to hang out with them.
We get to the cookout, and they decide to mess with me by handing me a bottle of beer. I can't recall the brand, but it was some cheap domestic stuff, maybe a Budweiser or something similar. I took it down sip by sip, desperate to act like an adult while they egged me on for their own amusement. Everything seemed fine until I started crying and vomiting. Eventually, I was so wiped out they had to carry me home while I was dead to the world. I don't remember much after that, but I heard my parents absolutely tore those kids a new one, and everyone involved ended up grounded.
I rarely drink these days. I don't like being drunk; I know my limits and I have a decent tolerance. Aside from that one disaster, I’ve only truly lost control a few times in my life. When I do drink, I tend to mellow out. I become empathetic, listen to what people have to say, and stop caring about the small stuff.
I’ll kick things off. When I'm out and grabbing some liquor, I usually go for an Amaretto. I also enjoy a glass of red wine, typically during lunch. Nothing fancy—just the kind of homemade blend my family puts together. It's mostly Zinfandel mixed with a few other varieties. It's easy to drink, but if you aren't careful, it hits you hard.
Many of us here have been hanging out on this forum long enough that I think we’ve evolved past the formalities for a topic this intimate.
We’re talking about alcohol. Just get it all out—whatever comes to mind regarding the most popular poison on the planet.
What’s your go-to drink and when? Your absolute favorite, or the stuff you can't stand? Maybe a recipe for a solid homemade liqueur, or where to find cheap stills for distilling your own spirits. We could even dive into how to manipulate public perception so people stop thinking booze is such a villain, its impact on the arts, or how it affects your sex life... honestly, there's no limit to where this goes.
