Jerry Flores74 said:So, I’m just wondering if games, movies, and other software actually run okay? Like, do you know of any specific programs that glitch out even though everyone uses them? That’s really all I’m asking. Thanks.
Jerry Flores74 said:alright, just one last thing. You happen to know any programs that definitely won't run on 64-bit? Or maybe some games or apps... that's it. 😁

Taylor Morales31 said:Why on earth would you even bother with an RC version when you could just grab the RTM—you know, the actual final production release? I don't get where you're coming from.
If you aren't looking for trouble, you should be using 6.1.7600 (Windows 7 RTM), not some random RC 6.1.7xxx build. 👍
And let's be clear, it’s not some "pack" or whatever. It's just a testing build, a candidate for the final release, basically a beta that came out before the official 7600. Honestly, who needs it these days?

driftingangler11 said:That’s exactly what I’m seeing here—you ask for advice, then when you actually get it, you just ignore it and go right back to doing things your own way.
And look, it’s not that I hate answering questions, but it’s just frustrating seeing people try to help only to have it thrown back in their faces. If you keep this up, next time someone actually needs a hand, nobody’s gonna bother showing up because they'll assume it's just like dealing with you. It's like, I tell you to just uninstall everything and stick to the defaults without touching a single setting, but instead, you're gonna uninstall, click every single checkbox in sight, all while munching on a hot dog... and we all know .NET fw 3.5 isn't exactly compatible with a mustard-covered hot dog...
Anyway, the topic is Windows 7, not some random debate about hot dogs or Windows Media Player and subtitles.🙂
driftingangler11 said:Look, I gave you a tip, you wouldn't listen. Now here we are again—I try to help, and you just ignore me to do things your own way. I don't get you. Then you're gonna come crawling back asking, "Oh, why isn't it working now? Why is it broken? Waaaaah..."
Just do what we told you first, then if it actually works, feel free to play around with it later. 🙂

Just grab the latest K-Lite Mega Pack—I think 6.20 is the current version. When you run the installer, don't go messing with settings; just stick to the defaults. Once it's installed, you don't even need to touch anything in DirectShow. Personally, I just check the box for volume if I want to boost the sound, but that's about it. It's not worth the headache. And look, if you have some other old codec pack hanging around, just wipe it. Having two or more installed is a recipe for disaster.
David Kern8 said:Then you obviously messed something up in the settings. Check your contrast and stuff, there are tons of options for tweaking the image quality.
David Kern8 said:Same here, honestly. Just grab the K-Lite codec pack and call it a day. It handles everything else.

driftingangler11 said:Look, I'm sitting here using Windows Media Player, seeing that red DirectShow icon down there. Subtitles are checked, and when I dig into the subtitle sources, it actually shows the .srt file it's pulling from.
If you've already got that set up—then honestly, I'm stumped... the only thing I can think of is a full reinstall.
But if you don't have that configured? Well, that explains why the subs aren't showing. Maybe try forcing them in manually through DirectShow.
driftingangler11 said:First off, just try nuking them and reinstalling everything from scratch. You might be missing DirectShow or some similar junk (look for the FF icon in your taskbar). If it pops up while you're watching a movie, just right-click that FF icon and make sure "show title" is checked.
And don't forget—the subtitle file has to have the exact same name as the movie file if you want it to load automatically.

driftingangler11 said:just grab k-lite, it'll save you 🙂
