Issues with Gom player in Software ·
Morgan Bishop4 said:this is super urgent!!
does anyone know how I can skip a massive chunk—like, say, 45 minutes—in Gom without having to click through the subtitles frame by frame? I need them to jump ahead with the video.
Man, I've got this movie split into two parts, but the subtitles are just one single file.
Classic player won't even read them, and BS Player is being a total pain... plus, does BS Player even let you do this kind of thing?
help me out herediv>

you could always grab a subtitle file that's already formatted for a 2-disc set (split into two pieces). or you could just merge those video files into one long movie using some video joining software.
but honestly, the easiest way is probably just splitting that subtitle file into two separate parts yourself. here's a link: http://www.tucows.com/preview/226547

Alexander Cruz32 said:I’ve got this one issue, and honestly, I can't tell if it's tied to Windows 7 or if it just started acting up after the install.

So basically, right in the middle of doing stuff, my screen just blacks out for a split second, then pops right back on like nothing happened.
My graphics drivers are totally up to date, all my plugins are current—I have no clue what else could be triggering this. And it's definitely not going into sleep mode or anything; it actually happens while I'm actively moving the mouse.
Is my monitor dying or something? If anyone knows what's going on, I'd appreciate the help.

Oh yeah, did a little digging on Google and saw a bunch of people dealing with this too http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/01/w...-as-it-sounds/ , but for me, it's different since it only cuts out for a single second, so I'm really lost here.

Personally, I had the exact same headache, and just installing the latest graphics drivers fixed it for me. 👍

But since you already said yours are updated... man, I don't know what's hitting your rig.

I honestly have zero clue what you mean about the services, but I know for a fact I haven't touched anything there.

When I boot up my PC, everything just works fine. No system errors, no weird glitches... it’s just sitting there with no score.

I keep getting hit with this same error over and over, no matter what I try to do to fix it...

alright, fine, doing it now...

I'm 100% positive I ran the update. Before I even touched it, I tried refreshing the score and kept getting that same damn error. So, I figured fine, let's just do the update and try again... nope. Still nothing. It just keeps throwing that same error at me over and over.

It's like the Windows Media decoding tuning just hangs right when it tries to refresh.

So, yesterday my system screen went totally black, even though it’s usually blue. I ran a system update and now the screen is just... gone. Completely vanished. Tried to get it back, but no luck so far.
image

I tried refreshing it, same way I've always done it before.

I've tried every single combination you can think of—the green stuff in the photo—to bring it back, but nothing works. It's just stuck.

Right when it starts the refresh process, it hits this part (image 3) and then just throws an error at me.

Anyone know what's going on here? System Restore isn't going to help because the screen was already black before the update. If I roll it back, I'll just end up right back where I started with that black screen.
Is there some other way to fix this settings mess?
Everything else on the PC is running fine, everything works perfectly, it's just this one weird screen issue driving me crazy.

Joshua Garcia3 said:What remote? We're talking about a PC here, not some old-school stereo system, especially since he posted this under the Windows 7 thread. 😕

Which motherboard are we even looking at? Brand, model, what's the deal? 🙂

I mean, if he picked up a 5.1 channel speaker setup,
these days most of those things come with a remote included anyway.

Jamie Hughes6 said:Quick question... I just picked up a 5.1 surround sound system, but I can't find the setting to actually make it work properly. Everything seems fine, but only two speakers and the sub are kicking in. The other three are totally dead.

Have you tried hitting "Stereo" or "5.1CH" on the remote yet?

Man, this is actually pretty interesting 👍

But is there any way to just bump up specific icons? I don't want everything blowing up at once like this 👍

Taylor Morales31 said:Honestly, you’ve gotta be some kind of masochist to stay this stubborn about RAM 👍

I was actually planning on throwing 4GB of RAM into this thing, but then I found out my motherboard caps out at 2GB... so yeah, I'm calling it quits. 😁

Taylor Morales31 said:take this for example:

a VIP connection
Opera
SAS quick scan
and Winamp
plus Windows 7 32-bit
61 processes running right now, and I'm already hitting over a gig of usage alone👍

so yeah, either play your games or run a scan... they probably won't play nice together. honestly, just get 2GB of RAM; it’s not like it breaks the bank like it used to, right?
and if I have to start killing off processes on Windows 7 just to stay afloat—losing my gadgets, Aero, whatever—then I might as well just stick to Windows XP. no point in wrecking the whole OS just to save a tiny bit of memory

everything you're saying is spot on, I'm with you there👍
but Malwarebytes takes me about 6 or 7 minutes to finish a scan, and when it comes to antivirus stuff, I just set it and forget it. I'll let it run when I'm heading out or turning in for the night😁

I always have music playing in the background, too. I can game on 1GB of RAM and still run most demanding titles like NFS Undercover, NFS ProStreet, Call of Duty 4, and stuff like that. The only one I couldn't get to work was Call of Duty 5—but that's mostly because my processor is a weak 2.2GHz.
Everything else works fine if you know how to manage your resources😁

Taylor Morales31 said:Sure, it works. But honestly? Once you throw an antivirus on there, load up a browser, and start playing some music... man, that drive is gonna be maxed out. It’ll be sitting right at the limit before you even try to actually run anything. 👍

You're not wrong about that, but honestly? If you actually did anything useful on that machine, you’d probably be rocking way more than 1GB of RAM anyway. 😁

Is 1GB actually enough for your average Joe just trying to get by on Windows 7? Like, you know, the kind of person who isn't exactly a power user? Is that amount we're talking about really gonna cut it for them? 😁)

Noah Sanchez39 said:The CPU is fine, but honestly? Think about bumping up the RAM. 1GB is basically just scratching the surface for Windows 7; I'd suggest grabbing at least 2GB since memory is dirt cheap these days anyway. 😉

Totally agree. I'm actually tossing another gig of RAM into my own rig in a couple of days myself.

But hey, he can probably get by on 1GB without too much trouble. 👍

bluetinker17 said:one more thing 🙂 , I read somewhere that Windows 7 eats up about 700 MB of RAM, now I'm just confused if I'm gonna have 700MB gone immediately and be left with only 300MB free :/ , some English site said something like: windows 7 is running on 700+ ram, can't remember the exact number.

yeah, you'll basically be sitting there with only 300MB of RAM left to play with 😁

but honestly? don't sweat it too much. I've been running Windows 7 on just 1GB of RAM for almost a year now and haven't run into any major issues 👍

😂 😂 😂 hahaha

Just trying to look cool for the girls with an iPhone, huh? There you go. 😁

Anyway, regarding the RAM—if you've got 1GB, just remember the OS is gonna gobble up about 750MB of that immediately.

And the processor? I guess anything from 1.8GHz up might work, though honestly, with a chip that weak, you aren't exactly winning any races.
